  1. the breakdown cover is for 3 years from lexus. to jump start your car ,in the fuse box under the bonnet you will find a black cover that hinges up, under the cover you will then see a copper tag this is where you connect the positive jump lead and have the negative lead somewhere on the engine. as long as the hybrid battery is still charged up then the car will start.
  2. You can change the seat heater switch so it just stays on the same setting till you turn it off. Check the manual. The vented seats are more effective in the summer with the air-con turned down, I can attest to that with my holiday to Italy during the summer and outside it was 35deg. ignition on press and hold both heated seat buttons until a beep is heard ,your seats will now stay on which ever setting you choose, without the heat setting reducing from 3 to 2 to 1
  3. i have had the arm rest rattle and fixed it ages ago and it hasn't come back. on the front of the storage bin where the armrest locks i wrapped a piece of self adhesive felt around the locking point from the top and wrapping it underneath this now pulls the armrest down by the smallest amount but the rattle is gone.
  4. the features i dont like are :- the compass what do you need it for ??? has anyone had a use for it. the seat heaters you set them to setting 3 then it reduces to 2 then 1 why cant it just stay on setting 3 and cut in and out when needed the ventilated seats not what i thought they would be ,it took ages for a reduction in temperature.
  5. for anyone who likes the tyre goo then forget about the lexus one just buy yourself a can of holts tyre weld for about £8 and a compressor for about £12, keep that in your car instead of using the rip off lexus version this way you will only waste the cost of the tyre weld ,i have been told that if you use white spirit you can remove the tyre goo and get the tyre repaired so dont just scrap the tyre.
  6. in the specification list it states the SE-L has cruise control my 61 plate SE-L didn't have it fitted as standard, but it can be retro-fitted by yourself or a dealer ,the cost of the parts is around £130 for the stalk, cover & retaining screw plus about 45 minutes labour. if you have a look for a member called pidu he has completed a write up on the fitting and installation of cruise control.
  7. i always had a quiet noise from the brakes aswell when i had my ct,so i wouldn't be too concerned with it. the mechanical brakes are only used in heavy braking conditions and with speeds of 8mph or less all other braking is using the re generative brakes when i sold my ct my pads where 50% worn after 50500 miles on the clock so pads will last you a long time
  8. i am not saying have it as a permanent repair but how often have you had to change a wheel over the last few years, a space saver is only a get you home measure just like the kit but the kit will take up less space and cost you far less . i only mentioned a timescale to demonstrate how well the kit seals. these kits are sold with motorbikes in mind except for a bike you have a co2 cannister aswell for re inflation so they must have a proven track record and be regarded as safe.
  9. thanks for the comment, but why? The phone works fine in other cars it's paired to!You have given me an idea though, I'll pair my other phone - a old 6310 I keep in the glovebox for when I forget my 5s - and check. i only said android with android and iphone being in opposition to one another ,consumers will love one brand and hate the other. but do as you said pair up another phone and see if you have better results with that phone if its the same then ask your dealer to help you.
  10. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Van-Tyre-Tire-Puncture-Repair-Kit-With-5-Strips-New-High-Quality-Tools-/351418788513?hash=item51d2312aa1 i have used this type of repair in our hybrid jazz and it has worked really well,i repaired the tyre using this kit approximately 2 months ago and the tyre hasn't lost any air. it takes about 5 minutes to complete the repair all you need is a compressor / pump to re inflate the tyre. the other benefit is that it takes up next to no space so you still have your under storage.
  11. quote from lexus "you should arrange for your lexus to be serviced within 500 miles or 28 days of the period of when your routine service is due." if you do take advantage of the period of grace lexus provides, you only need to have the IS serviced every 13 months.
  12. i have found this car at my local dealer http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/vehicle.aspx?wflw=se_na_ve_vi&ctr=1607067&vhl=605291112&srcmdc=se_na_re_ and if you look at the image of the rear there is a detachable towbar fitted with electrics i am sure if towing is a no no with the ct, then a lexus main dealer wouldn't be selling it on the forecourt as they would have to guarantee the car not knowing if any damage had been caused..
  13. no that is incorrect open the tailgate and on the inside there are some covers remove the inner two you can then see the plug rotate it and the wiring and bulb holder will come out together, its a little awkward but it can be done in 5 minutes a side, its just the standard wedge 5w bulb.
  14. i have just come back from alton towers and with 2 adults and a 2 year old (for his birthday spent 2 days in cbeebies) and all of his bits and pieces in the car, maintaining 70mph ,if i had to overtake it would be a foot hard down and we returned 49.5 mpg so for the size of engine its really cheap motoring.
  15. jsct200h just curious about the milage you get from a gallon ??? its strange that you have started this thread but haven't contributed to it yet .
  16. combined is 55mpg round town & motorway,on a long journey on the motorway @ 70mph i would get 62mpg
  17. You picked the right colour, so many new cars seem to be gray silver or white!! Ed and whats wrong with silver eh ??? lol my ct was in mesa red and it did look good in the sun, with a light colour you never seem to get a deep shine but with the mesa red ,blacks & blues the depth of shine cn be deep. here are 2 pictures of my old ct i have taken the above picture looking down the side of the car so half of the picture is a reflection
  18. what an idiot i forgot to include the link http://www.wheelfitment.eu/car/Lexus.html better late than never
  19. i bought an is250 wheel to use on my is300h as a spare wheel 225/45/17 i used this calculator to find what wheels would fit on my car including other manufacturers as it is quite surprising what wheels have the same offset and pcd. a work mate has a jag xf and we found that the ford st wheels would fit on his car a ford wheel maybe cheaper than a jag wheel and he only wants to use it as a spare.
  20. oh..... i thought you could download them as i have viewed the hotspot installation and user guide with a pdf reader and they can be downloaded.
  21. i am thinking about buying a 1 day subscription to lexus-tech.eu service to download the workshop manual and others i feel are of interest has anyone else paid for this service ,if you have do the downloads take ages,is it worth the money ( about £16)
  22. i had the tea ceremony aswell the only way to make it more authemtic would of been to sit on the floor
  23. who did you deal with at stoke i dealt with Joe ,but i also had dealings with michael & george. fantastic dealership to buy from you made a good choice. if you look at my picture you will recognise the handover room.
  24. you will find it hard to buy parts for these cars,as you dont see many around and certainly not enough for a 3rd party to make parts and make a profit out of them.
