  1. Tbh the mats wouldn't bother me at all, my 400 has the same colour mats and after a couple of days rain jumping in and out mine are the same. Ok you thought he would have given them a quick jet wash!! in some ways I would rather see a car that hasn't gone through the bullsh.t department, car looks very clean and if I had the excuse to buy a cheap 430 I would be all over this car.
  2. Many thanks for the advice!! , I realise the rx is not going to be in same class as an Ls, they are simply on another level imo, not to worried about economy or performance as I will be doing very low mileage but the rx 300 seems to be the obvious choice as at least I know I'm going to get reliability and quality from a lexus in general (fingers crossed) only other car I would consider would be the land cruiser as I've owned two and found them both to be fantastic cars and hold there money incredibly well. Thanks again!!
  3. as a regular poster over on the Ls forum i currently have a ls400 and ls460 but am now thinking of buying a Rx 300 or 350. We got a puppy back in January that has quickly grown into something resembling a brown bear so was thinking of garaging my pride and joy Ls 400 for a couple of years. obvious choice for me would be the Rx, only looking to spend 4/5 k so I would be looking around 2004/2005 just wondered If I should be aware of any major issues of a RX of this age ? Any advice would be welcome.
  4. Thanks for the replys!! Just found a very loose battery terminal that obviously wasn't helping. Good mate of mine is flying in next week from the states and borrowing the old girl to visit his mum in Ireland, he will be doing about 1200 miles In the car, will see what happens then. Thanks again guys.
  5. alarm keeps going off intermittently, changed battery in key fob but still keeps going off at random, I do a lot off very short journeys and very few miles per week. I've noticed this doesn't happen after I've done a decent run and use the car more reguarly, was wondering if this maybe due to the battery voltage dropping on the car and therefore triggering the alarm. many thanks!!
  6. Funnily enough I was down in that neck of the woods last weekend, was in Torquay/ Brixham on Friday then spent two nights down in looe Cornwall. This photo taken in looe. attachment=12028:image.jpg]
  7. Heading down to Cornwall for a long weekend, staying in looe so was looking pack the fridge with some fresh fish to bring home, having never used the fridge before I take it you obviously need to have the air con on, but what setting do I need to keep the fridge nice and cold without freezing my old fellas off inside the car lol ?
  8. Kings Langley is Only 30 min from me, I will definitely be baring them in mind, thanks!!
  9. Living in west London it's not really a case of what music I like to drive to, its more of a case of which music do I like to sit in traffic to. I usually find a bit of Bobby Womack or elbow manage to keep me from going insane around town. when I do reach the insane speeds of 30 or sometimes 40 mph I find that mark levinson and gun and roses seem to compliment each other quite nicely. Ps also partial to a bit of oasis.
  10. Hired a Renault espace at Geneva airport a few years back, toured the whole of Switzerland and the lakes, didn't find it a problem at all. The lakes are very beautiful but Switzerland for me is another level, stunning!!
  11. Being mainly inspired by this thread I woke up this morning to a very sunny west London and decided to do something I hadn't done in about 25 yrs, Polish both my lexi,s ( said in a slight alan partridge voice) after a quick trip to homebase for the wife to get her hanging baskets and me to pick up a large bottle of turtle wax and a roll of cloth, hey presto!!! Feeling totally naked and without a single bone in my body not aching, I'm off to bed, good night!!
  12. I know when I buy a car above all it just has to feel right, I have a pretty good record with my cars, I prefer to buy privately as I believe you can always get a better deal but obviously that has its risks, I do my homework and the slightest thing in an advert or a photo can put me off. I brought my ls 400 2 years ago and my 460 6 months ago, I Spent months searching for the right car and then bang!! on both occasions they just jumped out at me and I brought on impulse, why ? Because it just felt right. if I was looking for a nice mk4 at a decent price with a good background I think that car would be on my drive tonight, as Rodney trotter would say "go for it, you know it makes sense'" good luck!!
  13. Am I right in assuming the last meet was about 7 or 8 years ago graham, Do you remember who organised it ? The pictures look good, I am sure Edgware rd and Lexus twickenham would help out and get involved, a salesman at Edgware rd told me they have a ls400 goes in there reguarly to be serviced with over 600k on the clock, wouldn't it be great to get something like that down there, maybe Edgware rd/ twickenham would e mail certain customers publicising it, what's to say we couldn't get an LFA down, I've got a mk 3 ls400 and a 460 my best mate is on the verge of ordering the rcf and has said he would love to come along to a meet, maybe a good idea at this stage for one of the mods to sticky a post across all the forums to gauge interest and then go from there, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a decent amount of interest from the isf forum.
  14. Mike!! being a newbie on here I don't want to tread on anyone's toes but I am more than willing to have a chat with the ace cafe and see how it all works. I am sure lexus Edgware rd would help and support this if there was sufficient interest.
  15. Went down to lexus Edgware rd today to get some new plates fitted on my 460, wife and I decided to pop into the famous ace cafe for breakfast, living about 3 miles away it's something we do occasionally, good breakfast and there's normally a car meet on, last couple where Nissan GT-R and lotus, On arriving today we could see a very large crowd in and around the car park, larger crowd than the last two put together, getting slightly excited and thinking it maybe something like Aston Martin or jaguar imagine my disappointment after pushing our way through the crowd to be met by around 60/70 crossfires and pt cruisers, having little or no interest in these cars we went straight into the cafe for some food. I couldn't help thinking and asking myself *****!! If they can do it so can we, I know it's not very central but it is 5 min from the m1 and a40/ m40, serves great food and you can get a beer. has anything like this been tried before, does anyone think there would be sufficient interest ?
  16. The words lexus and diesel should never be mentioned in the same sentence , I also don't think they should build anything without a v8 under the bonnet lol.
  17. I must confess I have been having a crafty look at the rx over the last couple of weeks. It will be with a very heavy heart that I let my 460 go but I am looking for a holiday home in devon and just got a puppy lab who is turning into a monster of a thing, can't really see me chucking this fast maturing grizzly bear of a thing in the back of the 460 so think this will be the natural road to go down as I really can't see myself coming away from lexus.
  18. Championship to top of the premier league you could say lol.
  19. I noticed this a couple of days ago on eBay, green 400 and a gold one, same area, same advert style, and loves a multi coloured font lol
  20. I have both ls 400 and a 460 I started a thread on this some time ago you might find interesting. Don't know how to do link but it is on page 9 and titled ls460 advice got some great info and comments back. Good luck!!
