  1. Interesting - thank you both. I had an ISF from 2016 - 2020 so I recall that the major services differed in cost but they do seem fixed now.

However I have just followed the Lexus website through and I really do think everything is included for £735 at 6 years.

For context, I'm interested in buying a GSF over the coming months so was looking at servicing costs.

I took the registration of a 6 year old car on AT (HK16MMO), typed the details into the Lexus site and it shows the 6 year service as being £735. Listed in the bullet points is "replace spark plugs".

Not sure if my link for trying this will work but you could replicate:

    https://www.lexus.co.uk/online-service-booking?gclid=CjwKCAjwh4ObBhAzEiwAHzZYU8B-WWrTauGdMcxD7Y99X_rGPBdY3qj3gRq-HWLszAdK1M5LBpUvgRoCP8kQAvD_BwE#

Otherwise here is the list as quoted from Lexus website:

Carry out 60K/72 month full service as per schedule.

Includes:- Replace engine oil & oil filter.

    Replace windscreen washer fluid.

Check all fluid levels & top up as required.

Inspect Battery for leaks, security of clamps & terminals.

Inspect cooling system, hoses & connections.

Inspect radiator & condenser for debris & signs of damage.

    Inspect engine coolant.

    Inspect air filter element.

    Replace spark plugs.

    Inspect charcoal canister.

    Replace brake fluid.

    Inspect brake pads & discs.

    Check brake pipes & hoses.

Inspect fuel cap, fuel lines & connections.

    Replace rear differential oil.

Inspect steering wheel, gear & linkages.

Inspect drive shafts including CV boots.

Inspect ball joints & dust covers.

    Inspect wheel bearings.

    Inspect wheel alignment.

    Inspect front & rear suspension.

Inspect for under vehicle and under hood fluid leaks.

Check exhaust system for security & leaks.

Check all tyre pressures (including spare if equipped).

Check wheel rims for damage & tighten wheel nuts to correct torque.

    Check operation of hand brake.

    Check brake pedal travel.

Check operation of lights, horns, wipers & washers.

Check function of all warning lights.

    Inspect glass and light lenses.

    Replace pollen filter.

Check seat belts for damage & operation.

    Check operation of alarm system.

Check installation of driver's floor mat.

    Replace remote control Battery.

    Reset OMMS.

    Carry out wash & vacuum.

    Carry out visual safety report.

7 On AT + the purple wrap one ....could it be, most of them being 2016 models, are at the infamous 6yr service mark ?

Just wondering, is the 6 year service specifically more expensive?

I thought that servicing costs were fixed, alternating between £395 on odd years (1, 3 5, 7 etc) and £735 on even years. I didn't realise the year 6 service was more than, say, the year 2 or 4 service?

    Hi All

It's been a while since I posted, so hope all are keeping well 🙂

I need (and want) to get my disks and pads replaced on my ISF (now at 70k miles and still in great shape), I know there is the dealer option, but I'm keen to see what else is out there, and I am not a 'do it on your driveway at the weekend' mechanic, especially for an ISF.  Any thoughts/comments would be welcome.  I am in the SW London area.

    Regards

    Grey One

I can thoroughly recommend Abbey Motorsport in Oxted - the owner Scott is great. I'm also SW London and if they couldn't do the work while I waited, it's only a 15 min walk to the station if you need to leave the car.

They did everything outside main dealer services on my ISF until I sold it earlier this year. I supplied the pads + discs for front and rear and they fitted them.

I still lurk on here as I miss the ISF!

    Hope that helps.

  4. I haven't personally been to see it but the chap who ended up buying mine went to view this one the previous weekend back in March. He said he wasn't overly impressed with the condition, particularly for the price when compared to mine.

He said this one had a few odd looking panel gaps at the front end which put him off. The front bumper and wing gaps didn't look quite right. If you look carefully in the photos, I am not sure if it is just a reflection but the offside front bumper looks like it has been distorted out of shape then not quite returned to its original shape.

He made a further comment about something - perhaps ingress of water into the boot but I can't remember exactly as it was over 10 weeks ago.

This one at Swindon is by no means awful and sounds like any small issues are easily rectifiable but when compared to mine which was immaculate and wanted for nothing, it was a no brainer.

Perhaps someone who lives locally may have some more info.

I was told by my lexus dealer this was not possible, and only possible the day before it turns 10 as per @F.A. comment.

Did you letter come from HQ or a lexus dealer? Maybe thats the difference?

Direct from HQ. Every time my warranty has been close to renewal for that 2 years, I've received another letter.

@C.B, did you take your initial warranty out at the dealer and therefore this may be why you didn't get such a letter? Have you ever got such a letter when it's been up for renewal on previous occasions?

  6. Sorry I I've re-read my post and it was a little unclear as I mentioned Lexus service history.

The main point of my post was actually regarding the number of services and not where they have been carried out. I have seen 2008 cars that should have (at least) 11 services but they have only had 7 or 8 yet this is still described as a full service history. The black 2008 car I refer to has has 11 services and is low miles, has warranty left to run etc as well as in the OP's preferred colour hence I was just interested in why it had been dismissed as it looked like a great example. Hopefully @JAD90 will shed some light.

  7. Mine will be going up for sale soon but the colour isn't to your preference and it's a 2008 model.

@JAD90, you mention you have discounted all that are for sale on Autotrader - I'm just interested as to what made you discount the black car up for £18k? I only ask as if I was buying now, I'd be going for that one (other than mine).

That black car looks immaculate, is low miles, low owners, full lexus service history with the correct number of stamps (a few 2008 cars have 9 stamps and claim FLSH when what they mean is the history is all with Lexus but isn't full as 2 services were missed). It even has  reasonable amount of Lexus warranty to run. Is it because it's 2008? You do mention your preference is 2010+ so I appreciate that perhaps you'll wait a while to see if any 2010+ become available but may then opt for an earlier model.

    Cheers

I know one of the service guys at Guildford was running an ISF, he may have decided it's time for a change..

    Popped into Lexus Guildford

Can confirm the service chap still has his ISF which is nebula grey on a personalised plate and not silver unlike the one up for sale.

I did have a look around the silver one to compare it to my own. The silver one has a couple of marks but nothing particularly untoward.

The alloys have been previously refurbished but not to the best standard as I noticed on at least one, it was starting to flake around the centre cap so I'd factor in doing all 4 again.

Also, I probably sound like a tyre snob but I didn't expect to see nexen n'fera tyres on the rear of an ISF being sold by a Lexus dealer! Hope that may help to anyone potentially buying.

  9. I had Michelin PS4S on the back for 420 fitted last year. 275/30/19 and that was via black circle.

Just booked in to get fronts fitted on Wednesday on black circle for  376 fitted for the pair. They have an offer of 15 off for 2 or 40 off for 4. So mine will be 361 for the pair fitted. 245/35/19.

So may be worth having a look on black circle and seeing what they come out as including the 40 off if you're getting 4?

  10. Regarding these additional ISFs...

One of the 2016/2017 ISFs will surely be Defratos's car from the middle East. Think that was 2017?

Giblet did point me in the direction of my car which was in Guernsey in 2016.

However there are others that have been imported/exported.

I can't remember who bought it in approx mid 2016 but think it was Emjay who had a cadoxton slate ISF from Republic of Ireland. That was originally a UK car that was exported then re-imported. Likewise there's a blue ISF in Jersey that was originally registered in the UK and exported in 2010 or so.

Oh and didn't Etienne import his to France in from the UK 2016?

Not quite so easy to track these imported/exported cars as you'd think!

One thing I'm interested in... @GibletPH, when you say you helped both, was the other car from Jersey or Isle of Man? I'm only aware of there being 1 in the Isle of Man and I'm pretty sure it's still there.

  12. I'm the IS F owner! It's a grey one 😊.

Had a little look at your GS F and it looks superb. It reaffirmed my opinion that black is by far the best looking interior colour for it and the only colour interior I would consider. Shame so many seem to have red. Definitely on my list in a couple of years. Would be ideal if a few more get registered between now and then to help the prices!

It was a great but very cold morning.

  13. It has been a bargain for me the last 2 years. I got the online quote for 620 quid ages before I wanted to renew. When I went to renew, I got quotes of about 900 which is what I expected. But I gave them the online quote reference for 620 and they agreed.  Therefore I expect it to increase this year. I should note that's for nil excess and proceed no claims.

I'll be buying separate gap cover for about 100 on top .

    Edited to add:

I have to to get gap as my (mainstream) insurer won't do agreed valuation. Any specialists (who i assume do offer agreed valuation) won't touch someone my age with this car. Couldn't get a single quote at 24 from anyone.

Last year at 25, I got 1 quote for something like 4.5k with a black box from 1 specialist. They're just not interested. Cue Adrian flux to post on this thread (sigh). Their prices are quite frankly hilarious.

Tbh.  If you can afford a bit more then get yellowstuff pads.

Ran both around town and track and the yellowstuffs are far superior in my opinion (although a bit more expensive)

I can afford them but I'm keeping everything standard.

I'll bear it in mind though. I might try the yellowstuff pads to see what they're like and keep the brembo pads as a spare pair.
