  1. Ive heard that as well & not just on here I've also had it from Lexus main dealer & an indi mechanic, the comments were on the car as a whole not any specific parts.
  2. I did my homework almost certainly the same as everyone else reading any topic, > I read what Abdallion (OP) wrote and the owner of the car, according to what Abdallion wrote was Sir Robert McAlpine. Yes I knew Robert he person was dead he died sometime before WW2 & not only do I know it's a company, but, as it so happens I was sent on contract from Sir Roberts Park Lane office as far back as 1964 (Dec) to work on an oil pipeline from Durban to Jo'burgh, McAlpine Sommerville were joint contractors. Sir Robert paid my wages.....bless 'em Maybe you could have a chat with Abdallion, he/she was my mentor here & he seems to think it was owned Sir Robert McAlpine Quote Abdallion,''The car was owned by Sir Robert McAlpine''
  3. I've found my 1999 LS does not have the 'floatiness' of my last 1995 LS, apart from those two I have had 2 1996 LSs' but I can't remember if they had the 'floatiness' or not, as one of them was my first LS & the other my second I would not have been aware of the 'floatiness' concept.
  4. If you/anyone here has a product from Rockauto sent to trusted, reliable aquaintance in US and ask them to send it on with 'Used Equipment value $15'' on customs declaration slip than all you get charged at customs is import duty on $15 + customs fee on shipping costs, just a thought folks, just a thought.
  5. No idea what these guys are like in expertease/diagnostic levels but they do come round if they have a franchise near you & have pre stated fixed prices. I never realized till I read this thread just how expensive & complicated the AC system is & today looks to be much cooler than yesterday (London). https://www.coolcaraircon.co.uk
  6. Thanks for the SGS info, I ordered a pair of bonnet struts from them this am
  7. Wrong Denis, I used Brembo on my last LS 400 not Denso, Brembo are fine, no squeal, I don't know whats on my current '99 LS, the seller had them fitted, either they are sharp or the braking system is sharper than my last 1995, no squealing. I always thought the brakeing was quite soft on the '95, maybe it was the car, I don't know but I've heard that occasionaly from others before.
  8. Desno pads are fine with the LS400, I've done the high heavens sqealing apprenticeship, not with Denso, a few here use them with the LS400
  9. OK thanks, I doubt something like that would be an autragous price from Lexus.............then again experience says😫
  10. Lexus have an online ebay store, I've had genuine Lexus pads from there, it needs checking out for any other Lexus stuff. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/LexusOfficialStore?_fsub=4702605016&_nkw=LS&_nkw=2000
  11. I've been using ASDA 5-30 ever since I went LS in 2008, great oil IMO, so is Shell can't fault either although I don't use shell.
  12. One thing thats often/always overlooked by all of us with posts about the glories of the LS is the price of it as a new car😨
