  1. Hi John, No you can’t switch it off, it’s an inherent feature of a hybrid and how they work, the car will work out what it needs to do and when so you will find the ICE will stop and start at various times, not just when you stop at the traffic lights😀 hope that helps Kev
  2. Hi Ben, I don’t pretend to know about the different oils but doing a quick search on Snow leopard oils I found the document below on their product along with an explanation of the ND11 oil type from another site. it would seem you need MRL85 from Snow Leopard range if I have read it correctly but I’d check with your intended AC specialist to confirm. What is ND-oil 11? ND-oil 11 is a so called Polyol Ester Oil. (POE oil) ND-oil 11 is used in the DENSO electric driven scroll compressors, because POE oils have a very high isolation resistance. POE oil is less hygroscopic, compared with PAG oils. However, POE- and PAG oil react differently on water ingress. https://primalec.co.uk/resources/Primalec-Air-Conditioning-Solutions-En.pdf hope this is of some help. Kev
  3. Hi Roland, you can purchase a satnav update for your car from here….and just search for Lexus one the main page opens, I believe you need a Gen7 version update which, at £59.00, is quite competitive versus a main dealer doing it for you. https://www.satnavishop.co.uk other members have used the site and confirmed how easy it is to use. hope that helps. Kev
  4. Hi Laura, Your sat nav version is the same as mine which I’ve updated a number of times now, it’s quite easy to do and can be update yourself but you need the following items first…. a 64GB USB drive which must be formatted with FAT32. a PC to download and unzip the update files too. (These are what an earlier post calls the 5 discs) its a pretty straight forward process but you will need to have the car running whilst the system is updated and I believe this is why having dealer apply the update is so expensive. My last update cost me round £78.00 I have purchased my updates from this website.. https://toyotamaps.online/ They also provide instructions on how to identify what version sat nav you have along with determining which version of maps you currently have installed. You will need to send them those details as part of the process so they can provide an updated version to you. I also believe other forum members have successfully used this site as well… https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/lexus-25-c.asp I hope this helps but shout if you need any further info on doing an update. kind regards Kev
  5. The AA have clearly increased their policy prices as I’ve just completed a new quote for my policy and it’s now £220.00 which is a huge increase on the £94.50 I purchased in February. I have single car, roadside, at home, onward travel and national recovery which covers my needs although my email does say it includes a discount of £221.43 which combined with my actual premium suggests the starting price was more than todays quote. ultimately, for me, it comes to finding the policy benefits you want/need at price your happy to pay and this may dramatically differ from someone else’s perspective.
  6. I had my renewal through at £155 which I felt was a bit high so went direct to AA and had a fairly comparable quote, single car, any driver, for £94 which I felt was a reasonable price for peace of mind whilst out and about. My policy started at the beginning of February so I guess they mayhave done a reprice for cover since then which is reflected in some of the prices other members have experienced above. In the last 5 years, I’ve used the breakdown service once for a failed battery so not exactly high dependency on it hence wanting a lower price than my Lexus renewal price.
  7. I agree Herbie but I believe Flashback32 only joined yesterday so maybe they did not have an account when they first clicked on the link hence the issue which they joined to raise.. But only they can confirm it… either way it works once your logged in and that’s all that matters really I guess, I assume admin don’t want to give ‘butterfly’ access to such documents without people creating an account.
  8. The link does not function unless you are actually logged into this forum first….the error message definitely appears otherwise as experienced by Flashback32….
  9. Your welcome Carole, feel free to shout if you need my further help. I much prefer using my built in sat nav, twice the screen size of most mobiles and better than faffing with a mobile whilst driving, I’ve been on the same trip as other people using waze and followed the same route so there’s no obvious difference to me. The maps get updated yearly and for me that is sufficient whilst I find postcode driven destinations work a treat. Other solutions can be expensive and unless your technically minded, need to be installed by a specialist but at the end of the day it’s an individual subjective choice that it’s yours to make. Cheers Kev
  10. Hi Carole, I think your nav version is the same as mine which can be updated yourself but you need the following items first…. a 64GB USB drive which must be formatted in FAT32. a PC to download and unzip the update files too. I have purchased my updates from this website.. https://toyotamaps.online/ They also provide instructions on how to apply the update to your car. I also believe other forum members have successfully used this site as well… https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/lexus-25-c.asp There are numerous discussions on this forum about updates, if you search for them they might provide further information for you. hope that helps. 11. Hi Dan, my understanding is the monthly payment, if you chose that option, is calculated to ensure there is enough money in the ‘pot’ to cover the cost of each service as it falls due, if at anytime you decide to cancel the service plan then you get a full refund of monies paid minus the cost of any service already provided. hope that helps….
  12. Hi Ian, I have a service plan running (my 2nd one) which I pay monthly as it’s interest free, if I remember correctly, my local dealership priced it very competitively to the point it became a ‘no brainer’ not to purchase it It gives the added benefit of no increase in costs during its lifespan of 3 years which seems a perfect solution to me…. on my previous RX I initially used to just pay each service but then realised the benefits and took a plan out. The £1280.00 they have quoted you is the full current cost of an intermediate service@£325 , a full service @£630, followed by another intermediate @£325 so I’d try and haggle if you can to reduce those prices by 10% perhaps for being a gold member on the forum?
  13. You may well be right Peter and the mists of time have altered my memory😂
  14. Hi Alphacool, I Previously owned a 2009 400H Executive Limited Edition model and my mirrors folded on locking without issue, unfortunately I can’t remember exactly how to configure them do that but based on instinct I think it’s a menu item within the car configuration which is user controlled OR is controlled by the position of the mirror controls on the drivers door. I’m not sure what model you have or if the option was across all models but the option did/does exist…
  15. Hi Tom, You should be able to find the answer here…. https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/vehicle-service/?lexReferrer=https%3A%2F%2Fr.search.yahoo.com#pricing If you scroll down the page you’ll find the option to download each service guide and within these it lists everything for service and should tell you when the spark plugs need to be replaced on an RX Hope that helps.
  16. Hi Steve, I have AFS on my RX which adds a function to the dipped beam that works in conjunction with my steering wheel such that my headlights move and light up a corner in the road instead of my headlights being in a fixed position. I personally find it very useful and have enjoyed the benefit on previous vehicles I’ve owned. It needs switching on by a button press and in my year/model of car it’s part of a 3 button cluster on the dashboard down to the right hand side of the steering wheel. Hope that helps.
  17. Hi Yoda400, Having previously owned a 400H I can understand your nervousness about the 12v battery and the stories you can read about them, I used a solar panel resting in my sunroof cover on my 400H whenever the vehicle was parked up for a while, mainly in the summer at an open air carpark at the airport whilst I went on holiday for 3-4 weeks. The car was mostly used daily so I didn’t feel the need to connect it too often and I never had a battery failure whilst I owned it, I still use the same panel on my current 450H but as I no longer use the car daily, I still leave the panel rested in my sunroof cover and connected to OBD2 connector just under the drivers side of the dashboard and tend to use the panel most days and personally given the amount of time this takes in seconds to connect/disconnect each time I personably don’t find this an onerous task. I use an AA panel I purchased from Amazon which came with clips and OBD2 connectors and has proven to be a great purchase... I assume your using something similar with OBD2 connection? Regards Kev
  18. Hi Russell, Sorry to hear you having problems with the small battery fitted to the RX400H, when I had mine and following advice I found on this forum, I purchased an AA solar panel which comes complete with an OBD connector that allows you to plug the panel in to OBD connector mounted just under the dashboard on the drivers side. it provides a constant trickle charge to the battery and has a built in safety protection for the battery to prevent overcharging. I used to rest mine inside my sunroof cover and the cable is long enough reach the OBD connector. I found it very effective when parked up regularly at an airport for 2-3 weeks and it never let me down, in fact I still use it now on my 450H due to lack of car usage during the current pandemic. You can find them on the internet at varying prices for around £25 -£45 and I think it provides a good alternative to a booster pack by preventing a flat battery happening in the first place. (Subject to getting daylight of course) hope that helps. Regards Kev
  19. Hi Sunny, Having looked at the website in more detail, it’s clear you can’t update as I suggested but the website says.... I have a 6th generation navigation system with HDD. Can I purchase the USB map update? Did Toyota say what the process is to buy the ‘update package’ and copy the data to your existing hard drive instead of taking the car to pieces to install an actual HDD preloaded with the map data. if it entails removing your existing HDD to get it connected to say a laptop, then you might just as well install a new preloaded drive instead and save the hassle along with getting a newer HDD than you currently have on your car. I guess you’ve got some decisions to make including if you think it’s worth the hassle to update the cars built in system. cheers Kev
  20. Sorry I forgot to say it cost me about $79 which I didn’t think was too bad as I prefer the bigger screen for directions and for me works well but as others have highlighted it’s not easy to use postcodes so I use the road name instead- still gets me there and I don’t risk getting fined using a mobile at the wheel... the usb stick plugs into the connector in the centre arm rest.
  21. Hi Sarmad, the website you need is.. Www.toyotamaps.online All you need to know is on the website but basically you need to identify which design of sat nav your model has, order the software with information from your car and once you’ve paid, they will send a link to download 3 files and you’ll need a 64gb usb drive to copy them onto and then follow the prompts etc from your sat nav screen. It takes around 90 minutes for the update to load which is why it’s so expensive at a main dealer and they throw in ‘freebies’ because otherwise you are paying for a technician to twiddle their thumbs for an hour and a half! This is a genuine Toyota website not a ‘copycat’ one and I used it to update my sat nav in the car without any issue whatsoever I hope that helps😀 Kev
  22. Lagershandy, There is an ‘essential care’ service option provided for vehicles over 5yrs old... details below https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/lexus-essential-care/ It also maintains the service stamps in the book and I guess qualifies for a gold member discount as well...hope it helps... Kev
  23. Hi Alan, Not sure if this helps but...I had an RX400H prior to my current model which developed an issue with a low level rumble which ONLY happened around take off/ accelerating that was linked, I believe, to the vehicle switching from ICE to battery mode. Once the fault had developed a bit more, (dealer unable to find the fault on first two visits) I was able to recreate it on demand by accelerating and then dropping off the gas pedal slightly so the ICE stopped and battery mode kicked in, by controlling the throttle, I could continue the rumbling noise for as long as I wanted. The dealer opened a case with Lexus UK but I never got a full solution as I traded up to my current model with them before I had a fix. Does that sound like your noise? Do you have a dashcam with voice recording capability that could ‘capture’ the noise to replay to the dealer?
