  1. Can you post a video so we can see the colour shifts? 👍
  2. Each to their own, but don’t be surprised if the Lexus mods ban you 😉
  3. I get the whole MX-5 thing, but I've never really fancied one. Probably my loss, I know. Seriously considering an A110 as my next car.
  4. I hope the RC-F works out for you. Performance wise, there's so little in it between the IS-F and the RC-F. I had to spank both to get fun 😊 I found that both the IS-F and RC-F are too high geared. 3rd red lined in the RC-F will see big MPH. I know this from when I took it to the Isle Of Man 😀 Of course, the gearing is an issue with other cars e.g. Porsche and the likes of the R8 V10. Getting fun at lower speeds is more and more important to me. You have the advantage of living in Scotland! 👍
  5. Yep, I agree with all that. M4 too fast for the road, C63 (as the video says) a muscle car, but does provide entertainment without doing silly speeds. RS6 - I can only imagine it being a license killer. I moved from the RC-F as I found myself having to spank it in order to get any fun out it. A very much under-rated car. Regarding the video, I actually don't agree with many of the points.
  6. You can't bin the C70!!! Sacrilege!!! 🙂 The 63 Bi-Turbo is pretty bullet proof (and in it's normal detuned form (470 bhp) well under-stressed).
  7. You'll be totally fine on the motorway at around 70 👌 On the boil, they are epic 🙂
  8. You don’t need to drive on motorway to hear the drone. Unfortunately it’s at its worst when you attempt to make medium progress.
  9. There is drone with QS exhaust...... actually, every after market F exhaust. Very evident at points in the rev range. if you listen carefully, even the stock exhaust has a faint drone, after market exhausts just amplify this. Realistically, switchable is the only way to go.
  10. Quicksilver cold start up isn't all that bad. As Paul said, just stick it in drive. Here's an example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGKZXoQAyj8 The 63 is much worse
  11. Having owned an RC-F CE and driven a few LC500s, as nice as they are, I don’t think they are worth the premium over an RC-F
  12. Agree. ISFs were exactly the same back in the day. The more expensive the car, the more often it will trade hands as a result of owners financial circumstances changing. In years to come I can see the RCF following the same trend as the ISF, less readily available but not an appreciating asset.
  13. I once saw a wine tasting test. Red and white both served at room temperature. Punters were blindfolded and most couldn’t tell the difference. Apart from cosmetics, I bet the average F driver would find it very difficult to tell the difference in drive between the GS-F and RC-F.
  14. I agree. I was comparing the book price of cars and what dealers are currently asking. Dealers are being greedy.
  15. Good point. Did find several on Ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-IS-F-5-0-4dr-ACC-PCS/174696155653?hash=item28acb3ca05:g:VIgAAOSw3JJgVrWn and https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2009-Lexus-IS-F-5-0-V8-Auto-420bhp-FULL-LEXUS-S-HISTORY/184685691412?hash=item2b00200214:g:ugAAAOSwySNgPLL- (although it says FLSH, that's not true) and https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2011-11-LEXUS-IS-F-5-0L-F-4D-417-BHP-PX-SWAP/265018525046?hash=item3db455c576:g:350AAOSwu2dgM1rT But I still maintain there is a small market for F cars.
  16. Doubt it’s COVID. There are plenty of people with healthy bank balances right now. No nights out, holidays etc
  17. Just like any F car, so few buyers out there for the RC-F. There are so many alternatives that the press rate much more highly.
  18. Thanks for posting. If money were no object, I’d have one!!! Saw one at GFOS - incredible noise!
  19. Surely in a bus like that, it’s hardly the right engine for the job
  20. I think with F cars, the issue is not just the lack of low down torque, it's the gearbox's insistance on getting into 8th by the time you are doing 6mph (slight exaggeration). Obviosuly this is done for fuel efficiency, but it's PITA when you want to make effortless progress. Yes, you can stick the box in to manual, but let's not forget that the IS-F, RC-F & GS-F are not balls out sports cars and are arguably every day cars.
  21. Sorry, don’t agree. Having covered a lot of miles in my previous F cars, to really get enjoyment out of them, they have to be spanked. This is mainly down to the lack of low down torque, something that the likes of M and AMG cars have in abundance.
