  1. Loving the colour. What colour is the interior? Like you still discovering all the gadgets
  2. Having owned a 2014 version and driven later non f cars it isn't just the suspension but the f sport uses a denser seat foam which makes the ride firmer. Age influences model choice. If I were 30 f sport would be great but now I'm physically older the RX is more my bag (but I do drive 20,000 + miles a year). A very long test drive is the only way to check the ride suits your back. In my case 10 miles in an NX gave me back ache for several days, but my last 2015 RX was brilliant, and my recently purchased 2017 RX is the business.
  3. Have used it without issue in Telford and Gloucester. Kidderminster was a bit more involved the assistant scanned it as a Land rover discount 😂
  4. Got my private plates on the car today at Lexus Cheltenham. There is some damage to the front lower chrome grill so they are ordering one in. Apparently entire front of car needs removing to fix it. I also showed them a tiny patch or corrosion on the centre of the rear offside wheel so they have ordered a new wheel under warranty. I will keep a close eye on the others before the 3 years warranty expires at the end of January. As usual great service at Cheltenham, plates made and fitted in the time I had coffee.
  5. I had a bad experience many years ago with similar ramps made by Halfords. Basically one collapsed and that was with the weight of a Morris 1300. I would always use axle stans as well after that experience.
  6. My gen 3 certainly changed between day and night but can't remember how to change it. Boot space seems about the same. My new car has a Lexus boot liner which has adjustable alloy dividers which are handy. Boot space is slightly Bigger. Going from the Advance to the Premier spec has added so many improved features. Visibility when manoeuvring is so much better and the heating and ventilation system is much improved (previously my wife constantly complained about the air con blowing in her face). The navigation and rear cross traffic warnings are very similar to my 2015 GS300h which was far superior to the gen 3 RX450h.
  7. Finally solved the navigation day /night screen setting. On this car you go into menu and avoid clock settings. You then have a row of icons to choose from. Ignore these, next to the phone battery icon in the top right hand corner of the screen is a small rectangular icon marked display. Click on this and the day and night setting menu is displayed.
  8. 1.£28000 but trade in clouds the figures 2. 18 Months 34,000 miles in that time 3. Cost to change is the relevant money as you can juggle the figures any way you like which was exactly what happened to make the deal work Cost to change was £16300, but the new car is a much higher spec than the last one e.g the last one retailed new at £48000 and this one would have been £62,000
  9. The ride in normal mode is very compliant and less 'edgy' than the previous car. Car is on Bridgestone. It certainly cushions the local speed bumps far more effectively. The steering also feels much lighter, but when using radar cruise it somehow feels tighter. I am leaving the lane departure 'on' though.
  10. Well I've now had the car for 2 weeks and covered my first 500 miles. There are a couple of minor issues needing attention, firstly some damage to the lower front chrome grill surround which seems to have occurred between viewing the car and collection. I have also noticed a very small area of corrosion in the centre of the rear offside wheel which as you know was a problem with my previous RX. The car is going into Cheltenham Lexus on Monday to assess these matters and to put my personalised plates on the car. When I first had the car the tailgate was reluctant to open from the remote, but that now seems to have resolved itself, although opening by using the rear badge is very difficult. I have yet to find a way to get the navigation screen to go into night mode, but will no doubt eventually get there. I have managed to get the Lexus Link to give the service history and I see the car has just had front discs and pads and also rear brake pads fitted. It runs beautifully quiet and am sure it is quicker than the last version. My phone app is giving an average mpg so far of 34.6, so I am well impressed. I am sure this will improve once I get used to the car. The seats are superbly comfortable and the visibility is much better in the 'A' pillar area and to the rear of the 'B' pillars when pulling out of junctions. The 360 degree camera system is a boon together with the blind spot monitors and cross traffic warning. The lock when parking seems slightly better too. Jury is out on the photosensitive outside mirrors and the auto main beam system, but the HUD is great as long as it is turned up bright when wearing my polarised varifocal sunglasses. Still much to learn and adjust, but it is a great drive so far.
  11. Try chemical guys blacklight. Lasts for ages and beads wonderfully. Oh and very easy to apply. Have used it for several years and people comment on how it beads. After car is washed I spritz with their hybrid V07 gloss protector.
  12. Just a heads up that I've just purchased a touch up kit from these guys and the service was excellent. They are of course part of Fish Bros in Swindon. 👍
  13. Barry if you are getting the car repaired enquire with Lexus Cheltenham if they will give you the owners club 15% discount on the whole bill. If they will give you the discount then quickly sign up for gold membership here. Regards Les
  14. Dunlops are renowned for the wedging, my old RX450h had the same issue.
  15. Definitely sounds like a tracking issue. My recently departed series 3 had absolutely even wear across the rears after 27000 miles. Any sign of accident repairs?
  16. I had the same issues until I changed my car yesterday and the light came on and I couldn't find a switch. My Grandson found that the light unit on 4th generation has a touch on and off feature on the light itself😂
  17. Diesels /Diesel Hybrids will soon be history. I understand all diesels from next year will pay £8 a day to enter Birmingham and a diesel ban is on the cards for Bristol. A colleague living in Birmingham and driving there most days is looking at replacing her Audi A6 because of this.
  18. I only use normal fuel with the very occasional redx. Because the fuel is through the car so quickly I normally use Tesco or when it is a good price Texaco. I haven't noticed a great deal of difference with performance, but in the past with other cars I avoided supermarkets fuel because you could feel the difference.
  19. Now my 2015 car is about to go I have compiled the figures from my phone app gleaned since October 2018 to give others an idea of the expected econonomy of these cars. all figures are based on filling brim to brim every time so should be a good guide for expected economy. Car running on Michelin Cross Climates throughout this time. Date Range 5/9/18 to 20/11/19 Total mileage 27819 Daily mileage 63.08 Weekly mileage 441.57 Fuel used 3812.88 litres in 99 fillups MPG 33.52 Monthly cost £315.28 Cost Per mile £0.165 I hope this benefits all interested parties Les
  20. Q I wanted a light interior as believe it or not the cream interior in my current car has been so much easier to keep clean than my last 2 black interiored Lexus
  21. Red leather did I believe have some wear issues so check it carefully. My fsport was a 2014 in black. I think I had ML though. I would err towards a Lexus supplied car in view of the warranty benefits
  22. To be truthful it didn't feel any bigger to drive and I thought the lock when manoeuvring was better, but that might not be the case. Of course there is so much more assistance for parking than on my existing car. I thought that the car felt a lot quieter than the previous version, only time will tell.
  23. No they are fine. A word to the wise ( from a former f sport owner) make sure you have a good long test drive as the high tech foam in the seats is quite firm. As previously said don't bother with the eco mode, i found that my mpg was worse if I used it. Do watch the lexus hybrid video though
