  1. Thanks for your input. In UK there are people selling the sd cards ready to go, but they aren't listing RX450h in the model list. I don't believe that there is a difference to other models with the same nav system.
  2. I would like to update my satnav micro sd card to the latest version. I have the numbers from the existing card 86271 followed by the version 48341. Unfortunately when I input this into the page on the Lexus website to check for a later version there is no button to click to get a version number /quote. Most Internet sellers don't show RX450h as an option for a premium sat nav vehicle All suggestions welcome. Les
  3. Strangely Cheltenham Lexus sold an ultra low mileage gen 3 car in Arctic White last month which had the cream interior . It looked superb.
  4. Interestingly that is what I have always believed (and still do), but I read an article on this forum recently which indicates that the Hybrid aircon is different to a normal system and that it doesn't need to be run all the time to stop seals from drying out. In respect of clearing the screen on a gen 3 car I used to press the big windshield icon demist button and that always worked well together with the mirror and rear screen defogger button.
  5. MX5 is a great car for driver communication and very forgiving (unlike a 2.8 Z3 I once owned). 👍
  6. Unfortunately Barry there don't appear to be many silver 4th gen cars around. I would probably have gone for silver If could have found one with the cream interior. The red does look very nice.
  7. I looked at a dark blue car but thought it would be difficult to keep looking good. The cream and brown interior on the mercury grey swung it for me. Do miss the beige carpets and rubber mats of my gen 3 though.
  8. You forgot Grey.. Which I now have. Did prefer my gen 3 Silver though.
  9. Some nice clean pictures of the paintwork would help. I wonder (and suspect) if the car has had some poor quality accident repairs, the bonnet may have been painted by the dealer prior to sale to cover stone chips. For sales cars they don't usually use a Lexus Bodyshop (I know of 2 main dealers who don't) . I would get someone in a friendly bodyshop to put a paint thickness meter over the car to see if there are inconsistencies in the paint depth indicating repair.
  10. it's worth paying around £60 for a hybrid health check every year even if the car isn't Toyota or Lexus serviced as it maintains the warranty on the traction batteries for 15 years now.
  11. Yes, the gen 4 car is different to the gen 3 as the tailgate only opens and closes by electric motor power on the later cars. When I had my gen 3 car my Grandson rushed and opened the tailgate externally and it dropped back onto his fingers... Ironically outside A&E. Fortunately he wasn't injured.
  12. Reliability is not an issue with either car. Which to choose is a matter of personal preference. A good long test drive in both is vital. Running costs is down to whether you use a main dealer. Lexus service schedules are on their website together with costs. Don't forget a hybrid health check every year to keep the traction battery warranty for 15 years.
  13. Don't get too wrapped up in performance figures with a hybrid, they are totally different to a conventional car. Remember when you hoof it you get an instant boost from the electric motor as well as the petrol engine. I certainly found my 2014 IS300h f sport was just as quick in the real world as my previous 2012 Mercedes E250 cdi convertible. Try one in the real world, you may be pleasantly surprised. Don’t forget the motoring press seem to only think everyone should buy German cars.
  14. Hi Mike. Great choice. My Mercury Grey car has the same interior. I bought my 2017 Premier a few weeks ago and it’s streets ahead of my 2015 version. Take a look at the Lexus video on YouTube about driving a hybrid. Some very good advice there.
  15. Welcome to the fold. You'll certainly enjoy the comfort.
  16. Well done. Great tyres. Sadly having changed my car from a gen 3 RX to the gen 4 Michelin don't make Cross Climates to fit 😭
  17. My early 2017 model has no recalls in its history. Do check wheel centres for signs of corrosion in the diamond cut finish . My car is having a wheel replaced under warranty next week.
  18. Check the bodywork thoroughly. Also check that the service history covers all the things required based on age rather than mileage. Does it come with a Lexus Approved Warranty? Happy motoring👍
  19. Personally I would avoid WD40 (water dispersant 40days) and use a silicone spray or grease.
  20. Sorry this has happened. If you have gone over a bollard and things won't go back into place there may be a lot more damage than you think. I would be very reluctant to start stripping the car as when you start undoing things body components may spring apart and leave you with more issues. There could easily be big ticket damage behind that bumper cover so personally I'd be thinking insurance.
  21. Having just had a paintless dent removal on the tailgate of my RX450h I had an interesting conversation with the guy who carried out the repair about the special clearcoat that Lexus use. He has been doing paintless repairs for 16 years and had not heard of this coating. This made me think about the coating and how it is maintained. Apparently it works for around 5 years before the molecular structure hardens. I know people here probably use polishing machines and abrasives to get a good finish, but in reality should be using non abrasive cleaners and protectants to avoid damaging the special coating as minor scratches should mend themselves if the topcoat hasn't been breached. Certainly where my car has been repaired the paintwork has 'healed' leaving no trace of repair. I certainly will continue to use non abrasive 'blacklight' on my car and resist the temptation of running my 'Cyclo' polisher over it
  22. My 2015 gen 3 was also slow compared to my previous 2 Lexus (2014 IS300h and 2015 GS300h). It was the camera that irritated me most. In fact my dealer replaced the hard drive unit under the extended warranty ( unit costs £1800), but to be truthful it didn't make much difference.
  23. Trouble is with my new RX450h there are now 4 cameras to thumb wipe 😂
