  1. Bet you felt like a big kid when you took the car for a spin after the remap lol. I remember that feeling when I got my first mondeo remapped. 👍
  2. I've just watched Guy Martins TV series about where we get our electricity from. This last episode he went to the Orkneys where because they produce Too much electricity for the habitants they now produce hydrogen. Oh they transport it no problem so whoever is saying it's difficult is talking out of their pooh tubes.
  3. Just another journalistic exercise to wind the general public up.
  4. Nicely said Samantha. Those articles about transporting hydrogen are BS. Crikey they transport petrol and gas by road. Too many self centred misinformed know it alls getting their 2 penneth in.
  5. Read the paperwork for dosage. Your car is 2.0 litres I think. In the box you get 2 small measuring fimbles to aid dosage.
  6. Yeah it's a bit none descript really how the MOT describe items. I'm assuming you use a known garage to do servicing etc. Take your car there, by appointment so you stay legal, and get their opinions. Maybe the subframe just needs a damn good wire brushing and treatment with a chemical rust treatment. So longs as there aren't any holes or tears. Worst case is a new subframe. Easy case is a clean and treatment.
  7. Oh decisions decisions lol. From a LS400 to an is300h too much of a difference unless you want a smaller car. ES is a bigger is300h. GS450 would be the hybrid which is rather a spiffing car. So a LS460 would be 'old'. Same size car as yours but quieter smoother just pure class in a car. I'd absolutely love one but hey ho. I think you have to ask yourself just what do I want from a car. Your better half needs to be included in the chat. Is it time to go smaller? Are you comfortable in the size of the LS400? I hope you and your better half get the car you both love.
  8. From what I've read hydrogen fill up stations are slowly but surely being installed. Starting with logistics yards as its HGV's and plant machinery that'll be developed quicker than cars. Some countries have a much better infrastructure for hydrogen than we do. Its a wait and see thing I suppose. But hats off to BMW. Makes a change lol.
  9. Hi Miles. Yes ZX1 extralube. I get it from amazon. Been using it over 30 years. Swear by it. An example. One of my neighbours has a jag s type 3.0 V6. Only uses it twice a year. Told me of a tappety noise every time he starts it. Told him about ZX1. After one treatment he knocks on my door and said uckinhell Vlad no more tappety noise. Thanks. It basically coats all internal metal with a micro layer of lubricant. Like glue so to speak. No need to wait for oil pressure to pump oil around everywhere coz ZX1 is already there protecting all inner moving parts. I even put a thimble full in the coolant and fuel to help the pumps.
  10. Hi Miles. The only reason I went onto Millers was because of a friend who at the time was a salesman doing 1k miles a week. He swore by Millers so because I couldn't find Archoil at the time I could Millers so I got Diesel Power EcoMax. I found it no different to Archoil but a little cheaper so there you go. I use the petrol equipment in my is250. Oh the first thing I do to my cars before I drive them home fir the first time is add a bottle of ZX1 in the engine oil no matter what the mileage is on the car.
  11. Try resetting it by taking it to its extremes both on tilt and slide. Do you gave the handbook to the car? If so look in it for moon roof operations.
  12. Hello Miles and welcome to Lexus ownership and the best Lexus forum there is. My word you've copped yourself a rare beast. A car that has been looked after and by a Lexus technician owner. I see you've had a titanium x mondeo 2.0. I had one too some years back. After a remap and dpf gutted it was superb. Not as good as the 2.2 diesel titanium x sport (had one of those too both manual and auto). Nice to see someone advocating Archoil. Ruddy good stuff. I used it for years until I found Millers Oils stuff. Enjoy your steed and it'll be Interesting to read your summary of the remap you're going to get.
  13. Thanks John. I've seen the parking brake switch for sale but either in the US or Lithuania. Much appreciate the page you posted. 👍
  14. There doesn't seem to be much online that I can find regarding why the handbrake light stays on the dash display when the handbrake is off. Earlier this week I adjusted slightly the adjuster at the end of the cable at the foot pedal. That seemed to work for a few days but now the light stays on. There seems to be a sensor/switch somewhere near the handbrake foot lever but I'm blowed if I can find where it's located or availability here in England. I serviced the rear brake sliders and whilst at it tried to locate the handbrake shoes adjuster. Couldn't locate it thru the hole in the disc even rotating the disc 360 with a torch shinning through. With the wheel on rotating it with handbrake off and not in park the resistance it a little stiffer than I'd like. I'm going to remove the rear wheels and discs to investigate what's going on where the brake shoes are. Also adjust at the foot lever side but go the opposite way. Question is however does anyone know the location of the sensor at the handbrake lever end?
  15. A good few years back I had a 2.0l diesel Ford mondeo. The first mondeo I ever had. 140bhp but was a bit gutless. After reading a post on the Ford forum I went to the same place for an egr gutting and remap. Transformed the car. Oh it passed 2 MOT'S after with no advisories. The MOT hasn't changed since and I haven't heard of any car failing one after a 'proper' dpf delete. By proper is the seam removed the inners removed and the seam re welded. Your personal views towards this Linas are your personal views and yes they upset/wind up others.
  16. Malc. China's support towards Russias invasion of Ukraine isn't what it was. They abstained in the latest UN vote about supporting Ukraine.
  17. Excellent posts Eric. Reading that tesla fire story reminded me of a TV 'special ' about this very issue. EV'S and fire. From memory (and mine is krapp) a fire department somewhere here in England got an EV and in an open space on a concrete floor set it alight. They let it get out of control and proceeded to put it out, well try too. They started with water But water on electric fires we all know doesn't work (wonder why we don't trust the yanks lol). This fire department then used a foam. That worked upto a point. They even tried to smother it with a vast large fire blanket. After a dsy or so they took the blanket off but the vehicle started to smoulder quite a bit. They even had a huge skip type container to lift the car into. I can't remember the conclusion but it wasn't pretty. Oh one major factor was knowing where the kill swith is located (the switch to turn the battery off). Makes me wonder if they repeated that programme on TV. Interesting point Samantha about the newer batteries. What's starting to get at my goat is programmes like fifth gear recharge. Presented by petrol heads who praise to the highest that evs are the future. If only they spouted what goes on in those poor countries that dig up the 'gold' to make those batteries for those evs.
  18. I'm disappointed no one has commented on the link David posted. WOW the poor people in Indonesia having to put up with all that belching brown smoke as big as skyscrapers so the fat cat businessmen get their huge profits from getting the stuff to make the batteries for EV'S. It's an #ffing disgrace what's happening to the world. And that VW advert. How does it go. Making a carbon neutral car. B U L L *****.
  19. The replacement grills were cheap around 12 quid. The foam cleaner about 2 quid. I buy latex gloves by the box and brillo pads.
  20. Nice. Regarding the Inlet and block clean how did you do it? What fo you think to the tesla style headunit?
  21. Hi Tony. Get techstream. You can programme keys with it. Look on YouTube. If you search for in the 2nd gen IS section of the forum for What OBD scanner do you folk use. It's my thread and read it and there are a couple links for it. Rough cost 20 sommat quid.
