  1. I'd get advice from an International forwarding company. I used to work for one about 12 years ago now and some fluid were accepted like water for example. Things like perfume wasn't as it was a fire risk.
  2. So what that guy only covered 2.3k miles in his new car. When you buy new you expect everything in that car is new. Fact is tho things like batteries and brake pads are bought in bulk as they fit many models. As for new batteries dying due to lack of use I'm not buying that. I bought my car 2nd hand. Actually I'm it's 2nd owner. Last year I had to buy a new battery but I needn't have bothered as it was my alternator which died. I've still got that old battery and in a year of it out of the car it's not lost 1 volt. Goes to show not all batteries are the same and that branded ones aren't always the best. That guy was well in his rights. That dealer should be shot. Good to see you back John. Hope you've gotten over what was ailing you.
  3. How are the wheel bearings? Just a thought as worn and dry ones create a lot of heat which I'm sure you know.
  4. Thanks Herbie. When using it should the check engine light be on when techstream is on?
  5. I've just watched an interesting video. and from an EV tesla owner
  6. Ok boys. Got Techstream up and running and connected to my car and followed the prompts to recognise my car. However I've got stuck on the last point. See pic below and please tell me which version to click on. Sorry for the poor quality of the pic.
  7. Interesting articles Steven. Blimey global transportation chucks out billions of tons of CO2. That's only a fraction what heavy industry produces. (might have got the billions bit wrong but ruddy lots). Isn't it funny within that article it stated China produces less CO2 than expected and less than Canada and the US. To me those kind of articles are blinkered and oh so misleading. No wonder things are going to the dogs.
  8. Yes. As above. There's been a post or 3 over the years about this. It's best practice to Use the park brake because it can seize due to lack of use.
  9. Yeah you raised a point that triggered something in my useless brain. Smog. I remember smog from decades ago but nothing g since the abolition of lead in petrol. Now that was a positive move even if it did cost £200 to do the valves on an Austin 1100. That was one helluva car. 4 of us learned how to drive in that car. Hee hee. I remember the guy bringing it to our house so my dad could see it. My eldest brother asked 3 mechanic mates to come inspect it. Oh they were Hells Angels too. That guy sha# himself who was selling it lol. Isn't weird how something triggers a memory.
  10. Where the hell did you get that False percentage number from? Its utter false fake wrong. Transport only chucks out a single figure like 5% of carbon into the air. Buildings 3-4x as much. However maybe I've misread that figure. Do you mean that within the Transport sector that cars emit 41% of the carbon?
  11. It's ok Linas. Got everything sorted. It's my anti virus which kiboshed things lol. Just waiting for a license key then I'm up and running. The guy I bought from is ace. He's helped with everything I've thrown at him.
  12. Got my techstream CD's and OBD plug/lead today. Managed downloading techstream but having trouble with the lead as it won't download even after shutting down Internet connection and my anti virus software/firewall. Am waiting for the seller to get back to me about that. I'm thinking of getting a cheap old laptop with windows 7, would also be able to play some old games on it 🙂
  13. A common thing is the exhaust shield under the car. It's strange how it's rattle transmits to a different part of the car. To check the AC pump I'm not sure where it is but get a long screwdriver and use it as a stephascope and listen for a rumble which means the bearing is on its way out.
  14. Hi Eric. I finally want a scanner to get to the bottom why a few times a year I get the check engine light and VCS etc etc. Last time was a couple weeks ago on my way back from Leeds. Left the car alone for a few days started it up to go shopping and no lights. Got a copy of techstream coming and the seller is oh so helpful so I'm glad about that. Was wondering about a cheap scanner. I use to have torque pro app some years ago but seem to remember it was like missing something but there again that particular car didn't throw up any codes in fact no other car I've had ever threw up codes like this one does.
  15. That's one of the best posts I've read anywhere in any forum. Very accurately said Linas. I'm sure I've mentioned it somewhere that I seem to remember again a Fifth Gear programme of a few years back when EV'S were on our roads for a good few years. A garage darn sarf transitioned into an EV specialist. Servicing EV'S etc. He actually did battery swaps on the very early EV'S. Can't remember the actual year or ages of those vehicles but to have a replacement battery after say 8 or so years seemed a bit much. The garage kept the old batteries as storage power supplies. Now that must tell you there must have been some good use left in those batteries Don't you think it surprising that you can but a new EV with a small battery with a 100 mile range. Ok that vehicle would be so right for a short city commute assuming one had home charging or a charger at place of work or one very very nearby to home. But how long can an EV last. I wouldn't be surprised if they last decades if looked after. Their only achilies heel is the battery.
  16. Hi Michael. Has this just happened or did you buy the car with this fault? Does the unit actually light up when you turn the ignition on? If not then it maybe an idea to remove the unit to check its actually plugged on. You could check the amplifier which is in the boot on the right hand side under the floor trim. Check connections and if that area is flooded with water. Check for water damage if not flooded.
  17. Yeah I gathered that. Seen lots of videos stating that the EV hides between 2 and 5% of the batteries capacity.
  18. Reading the last post above reminded me of a short period within this EV revolution about charging these EV'S. It went something like You shouldn't charge the batteries to 100% as that will damage the battery sooner and shorten its life. You should only charge the EV when it's showing 20% charge and then and only then charge it to 80%. This will enhance the life of the battery. That's the gist of that. From what I understand it seems they're saying its ok now to charge to 100%. Blimey no wonder there's confusion surrounding EV'S.
  19. this is a very interesting video I watched earlier this week. It should answer a few things within this thread. Enjoy.
  20. Hi Linas. No. The lower window trims that Markey is on about are standard on my car. The front passenger side one got 'unglued' by whatever means and bugged me so I simply got a sharp blade and cut along near the glass and pulled it off but 1/4 of it wouldn't budge. Typical high quality Lexus stuff.
  21. oh er missus interesting video about the lies manufacturers claim. Discuss.
  22. Fifth Gear Recharge did a piece on 100k mile + EV'S and 10 years in age. However the model S tesla was 5 or so years old with over 100k miles and its battery deg was under 5%. Nissan leaf was about 15%. Very surprising results.
