  1. The quotas on fruit n veg is because of shortages. Spain and Italy, where most of the fruit n veg come from, have suffered with bad crops because of weather. I work in the fruit n veg industry and i keep in touch with the wholesalers I use to work for. Yes it's nonsense that you can buy 3 of whatever then put them in your car and go back in store and do it again.
  2. wow Mr T you did well freeing up that caliper. Basically any grease will do But Do Not put grease on the Ends of the shafts or in the chamber the shaft goes in. It could cause a hydro lock. A spray oil is fine in the chamber.
  3. Page 3 of this thread I posted a video. Watch it again. In the first couple minutes the guy is videoing what he describes as An Electro Hydrolizer. Basically the gizmo that makes hydrogen on demand. No need for storage of hydrogen. Looks like fuel prices have been falling slowly but the price of electricity not. So as the title of my thread its starting to look like it's costing more to run an EV on shortish journeys. And after reading/watching some articles that home chargers run on a special rate night rate. But the actual time in hours of the reduced rate is only 4 hours. Ooooop because of the cheaper rate the rest of the 20 hours the cost of the electricity has gone up ! Those with home chargers and a night time special rate please confirm or correct me please.
  4. Great to learn more countries against the 2035 ice car fiasco. Oh gidums car manufacturers have spent billions on changing to BEV production. Yeah they say they're going fully into BEV but personally they all have a contingency plan to change back quite easily. Too much BS regarding things like clean air charges. Absolute rollox. As for government Intervention in this that and the other. They're full of muppets. Crikey WhatsApp are thinking of pulling out of England if the government get their way to stop their end to end encryption. Why do they want to stop it? For security reasons. Absolute rollox. Postman Pat for priminister.
  5. Certainly not David. In 1985 I was knocked off my motorbike ending up with a cracked hip socket. 6 weeks in traction (which was brilliant time because of 16 bed ward 13 of us were bikers lol) and 2-3 weeks on crutches then back to work. 1982 misjudged a right hander and backwards into a fence. Dislocated arm. 4 weeks later back in work. Had many more bike prangs lol that's where I got the name Mad Vlad lol.
  6. Malc. If you watched the video where the JCB boss was driving the 7.5 ton truck powered by a hydrogen engine you'll get an idea. That engine was a 4 cylinder and either 4.0l 4.3l or 4.8l but probably the 4.0l and it sounded throaty but the recording was pooh.
  7. JCB I've just watched a superb video regarding their development of hydrogen engines for their machinery vehicles. Its fascinating so I hope you enjoy watching it. Get your popcorn ready lol
  8. Update time. Ok it's Wednesday today But I went back to work on Monday. Feeling 99% there with no twinges if I do any lifting of any sort. Thanks all who have posted. 👍
  9. Don't be daft lol. Are you using a laptop or phone to access the form? Either way top right of screen on homepage or any page hit the 3 horizontal lines. Drop down menu go Forums then a new page appears with all the Lexus models IS GS LS UX etc.
  10. Hi Miles. I'd ask in the gen 2 IS section of the forum as this thread is in the new members. You'll get a better response.
  11. You know what Antony I think you're right about not enjoying fusion generated electricity, in as you put, my lifetime. Again mentioning the TV programme Guy Martin did. The last episode did indeed talk about fusion generation. Where he went, somewhere in the south, was to a huge place where they have built a fusion reactor. Took years to build I believe. Anyway they gave him the honour to 'switch' the gizmo on. It worked for a matter of less than a second as it was a test session. It was however a success as it showed that it can happen but will take years to make 'proper' use of it.
  12. Have a look Miles. You've nothing to lose. First I've seen/heard of that neat trick.
  13. Blimey Shahpor please don't get you underpants in a twist. How can I put it. Hydrogen has been stored for years all over the place. There are experts here there and everywhere sprouting their 2 penneth worth. Only a fraction of experts are genuine and only come out when angered by the others who are paid by competitors. Thanks to the Internet there are OMG numerous experts spouting their knowledge. Where that knowledge comes from who knows. The problem is there are too many 'experts' that the true explanations are not heard. This thread is about the difference in cost to run an ICE car and an EV. I went to Leeds today and I drove my is250 like I stole it. Uck my tin hat I averaged 27mpg. Did it in under 25 minutes. How that equates to in kwh per mile I dont know but I bet no EV could match my journey today.
  14. Change your regular mechanic as he is Not a mechanic. It does require removal of the drive shaft and a competent mechanic would murder that job. It's a bread and butter job. Your regular person is scared because your car is a hybrid.
  15. Eh up Miles. You're getting excellent mpg out of your car now after the remap. As for any negative views on ZX1 they're paid reviews from competitors of ZX1. Let me tell you how I first learnt of it. Blimey must have been near 30 years ago whilst at a motorbike show at the NEC I came across a stall selling ZX1 But the guy had a heavy duty motor and I mean heavy duty. The shift of the motor had a steel add on making the diameter of the shaft to about an inch. Imagine if you will that motor on a plinth with the shaft facing you. To its left a heavy duty shaft in the same orientation but a couple foot away. On that shaft a strong lever and on its other end a removable steel ball. Now imagine the motor spinning then with the lever make the ball meet the steel add on onnthe motor. Within seconds red hot and rolloxed. Now then new ball and steel add on and a couple drops of ZX1. Same thing but ruddy hell even after a minute no heat buildup or seizure. I was sold. And yes I see more is220d and 200d than I see is250. And yes they run just fine and dandy. I was in the market for one 12 odd years ago but reviews on forums etc put me off. You stick with yours m8 coz it'll serve you well 👍
  16. Interesting articles Shahpor. One wonders then about the current gas storage containers could actually store hydrogen. I only know what I've seen on TV and YouTube. On YouTube I saw a video, which I've posted, from America showing how long does it take to fill up a hydrogen car. The station looked like an ordinary fuel station except for the addition of another building. That building was described as a mini factory. It was the storage tank with a cooling system. On TV just this week Guy Martins programme on where does our electricity come from. Up in Orkney where they are cutting edge in wave energy and they have wind turbines too. Together those two systems produce Too much electricity for the habitants so they're using the excess to make hydrogen. The storage tanks and delivery tanks looked just like what one would expect gasses to be stored in. Oh and the chances are most of us have seen those cylinder transporters. Some of those cylinders have hydrogen and have had for decades. The only thing that I can see needs to be done as those companies have inferred is to attach a cooling system.
  17. That YouTube guy with the Porsche taycan he's called Lee. I've stopped watching him because I think he's a fraud. Nearly a year ago he swore blind he's getting rid of the Taycan for a petrol Cayman. Blimey he even did a video with the journey to swap cars but low and behold months later he's still driving the Taycan. He's two faced and stupidly unrealistic. He deliberately goes out of his way to slag off a car I believe he actually loves. Possibly an ulterior motive to stop folk buying EV'S so what chargers are out there are enough and he doesn't have to wait. Great news and well done Germany for delaying the rollox of banning ice cars.
  18. Somewhere here inbthis forum someone mentioned removing the OBD socket from its 'normal ' position place a blank OBD socket in its place and place the proper OBD socket elsewhere. Have an alarm system not connected to the cars electrics, except for the 12v battery. This alarm system would go off if the car was manhandled. Park the car with the front wheels pointing left where the inner part of the wheel is in-line with the rear edge of the wing. This produces the narrowest gap between wheel and wing. If the car has air suspension put it in the lowest position when you park. Have a dirty big steering wheel lock.
  19. Gang. Not many talk hot air on this forum. As for me. Yes I'm all for hydrogen for vehicle propulsion. I'm not anti EV but I hate the thought of it being thrust down my throat. I'm absolutely pro petrol and diesel propulsion for cars. The infrastructure for hydrogen is certainly on an upward motion but it will take time. Each method of vehicle propulsion has its merits. Again me it makes sense to have an EV but I can't justify or afford the cost.
  20. This is just a post that if the handbrake warning light is on when the handbrake is Off then its an electrical fault either on the switch or its wiring. To replace the switch means removing the whole handbrake mechanism. I tried on my is250 but could I move the mechanism after removing the nuts? No. You need to almost bend over backwards to see the switch. My light comes on when it feels like it. I've wiggled the wire and operated the switch by hand (no easy task) and it's basically tolerate the light being on or spend a lot of hard earned getting a garage to do it. I spoke with that almost Lexus independent from Preston and he was dead helpful. He remembered doing one a few years back and it was,in his words, a Pig of a job. So there you have it. If the handbrake light stays on when the handbrake is off you're stuffed.
  21. Have you looked on ebay? There are some on there.
  22. That's rotten luck Taz. Let me know what they do regarding the handbrake as I'm having issues with mine, the warning light it's on when it's off. As for the caliper. If that's leaking then I suggest change both coz if one has gone the other is sure to follow soon. Look at Brakes International helluva lot cheaper than OE which I think are 400 quid a piece.
