  1. After fitting the new part, the codes will have been cleared. It may be that the clearing of the codes was what gave you 50 miles of no check VSC showing as opposed to being due to the new part.
  2. Another thought, how long has the car been stood? If it's more than a few months, the petrol in the tank may have "gone off".
  3. Some more thoughts, just googling about for info on P3191, the code itself seems to be thrown when the engine fails to start and it can fail to start for any reason a normal engine fails to start but most are suggesting you should check/clean the throttle body and MAF sensor. The theory being, that a dirty throttle body/MAF leads to not being able to control the air flow at idle.
  4. You say "was".... so it still fully charged currently? Probably worth monitoring voltage level as you try to start the car. Other thoughts are, that you confirmed fuel is present, a spark is being generated, next up would be to confirm timing.
  5. Have you checked the health of your 12v battery ? That needs to be in good condition for the car to start too. Maybe worth giving that a good trickle charge and trying again.
  6. Any errors codes from Engine PCM ? There must be a documented procedure to follow for diagnosing a non starting engine on these Hybrids. Would be good to see what that is.
  7. Congrats fellow "black on black" lover Look forward to seeing it. iPod should play fine I would think.
  8. Ah, yes ! I've not had my 450H long but I do actually (occasionally) do this already. Mostly I try to only apply light breaking, trying to utilise the regen brakes as much as possible. I'm not sure how the previous owner drove the car but the front and rear discs (especially front are pretty worn) and mileage if only at about 60K.
  9. John, do you mean dropping gears in a manual gearbox to reduce speed ?
  10. Looks a decent sized workshop, what size is it ? See as car guy I would have be interested in seeing a full build thread on this in the "Non car related section", makes no sense why it isn't allowed. It's not like your posting about making your wife's kitchen huh !
  11. Nice workshop man ! Bet she can't wait :-)
  12. Indeed, LPG tanks are made to be be safe. The car can have a massive rear end impact where the rear end crumples heavily to the point that the car is a total write off, even so the LPG tank will remain intake. The petrol tanks stand much greater chance of rupturing than the LPG tanks. Most petrol tanks these days are made from plastic. Even in case of a vehicle fire, a petrol tank will explode, whereas a (properly fitted) LPG tank will vent fuel at a controlled rate instead. Rest assured you are safe. @Metalnkey Did you have the install done and if so what size tank did you have installed in the end ?
  13. I think I had that sensation just this morning. Started the car, went to set off in reverse and the brakes, clonked and unstuck before car moved off. Bizarre how quick the pads stick to discs.
  14. Indeed, no reason for it not to be part of the junction box. As you say John, could well be built in to it.
  15. That's a bit different from the Prius then isn't it ? On that, I gather that the pre-charge contactor, and pre-charge resistor as well as the negative and positive contactor all sit on the hybrid battery junction block. Is that correct John ?
  16. Yes that's right, it'll be an eCVT which are in all Toyota/Lexus Hybrids cars. Are you sure the footbrake wasn't on Brian ?
  17. What a bizzare problem. I don't think the Lexus GS CVT's are steel band based but it could still be an issue with the CVT box though.
  18. Ok, fair enough, each forum has it's own rules.
  19. Interesting project @Bempa Any more progress made recently ? Can't imagine why anyone would object.
  20. Great project thread Robert. My kind of project Look forward to following along.
  21. Are you still having issues @alexchrisro I immediately thought fuel pressure too when I read that misfire code get set for each cylinder but applying some revs clears the issue. I assume fuel pressure (at least for the Direct Injection) should be viewable using TechStream.
