  1. What is this fuel pump 'basket' looks like?! Viewing at the pics online, the pump is secured at the top of the tank, under the rear seats and held by eight bolts, can't see anything holding it other than the top mount.
  2. Hi Vlad, Interesting and something to watch for, do you keep all the plastic covers in place? I noticed that some of the stupid plastic pins that keeps the covers secured, get brittle in time and with the natural vibration of the engine bay may shift a bit, exposing what's beneath? Last summer I made some time and replaced all of the pins I could see, some came out as plastic dust. Also, do you ever pressure wash in there? I personally never bothered with a pressure washer for anything and I trust the first owner of my car (an elderly lady) didn't bother either.
  3. What he said. There are no new creatures like this for sale anymore. Personally can't see how I can do my 6000 miles a year in a better way (both financially and everything else). I can't see myself ever fork out for one of the EV's everyone's and their dog is on about, I can easily buy a new Tesla cash but I can't see the logic as we also get our milk at nearest the petrol station (no such luxuries as shops anywhere near).
  4. Ok, finally managed to get to the shop to get the damage fixed, £288 later and you can't tell it ever happened. £288 included a car wash and wax plus a lift to and from the shop, these lads know what they are doing. Very pleased.
  5. Might not affect the IS in the same way but If you are interested in the mechanics of a similar issue, have a watch of this excellent clip. Mine does this rattle very rarely if the oil is not up to the middle to top dipstick line.
  6. After refuelling on the way to work, I sometimes zero the average MPG counter. The way to work is one big glide on the way there (Cotswolds to Bristol) without touching the accelerator much. By the time I am in my office, the MPG will average 65. Let's say it's a different story on the way back home 😗.
  7. Ok, £288 is the bill for Swambo's mischiefs, will happen in very early November as the shop is fully booked until then. Thanks again and I will post the 'after' shots for sure.
  8. Thanks Mr V, yes the lip is intact but needs to be wakked into place and secured with a new plastic pin. As to the cosmetics, I am seeing the body shop tomorrow and see what he wants to do, I trust the guy will want a few hundreds for this but I can't be choosy as we few of these shops around here and some of those are cowboys.
  9. Thanks chaps, ye the lip is not broken, it came out a bit, one plastic nail holding it to the wing is broken, tho I am not sure if I can push the thing in by myself. I wiped the mud off and it shows the scratched area better. VID_20220908_182330.mp4
  10. Finally swambo managed to assassin my pride and joy 😪 Just this morning dropped her Avensis at the body shop for a new rear bumper after some old gent driven his SUV into her while she was parked in town. The chap paid us £686 for the work done today. As swambo needed a car for work she took the IS and when she got back home managed to scrape the front left bumper against the stone wall (we have an awkward off-street parking space and a narrow road with cars parked opposite on the road so can't blame her). As I am going to the body shop to pick up her car at the weekend, I thought I'll show them my damage. The only thing, I am not sure what this part of the bumper is called?! It's the bottom part of the bumper just under the fog light, and it got separated a bit due to a plastic pin shearing off. I dread to think how much they will want for buffing the scratches and paint it 🤔
  11. Am I correct that the biggest selling years for the IS (petrol and derv) are 2005 to 2008? This will make a very big chunk of the running stock needing to drink E5, I wonder how many are even aware.
  12. What about year's as opposed to miles? My 07 Is250 had the sparks done at 6 years and 31k in 2013, it's now just about to go into 50k, shall I wait until I hit the 100k ?
  13. Surely taking the pi**,in 2021 I paid just under £6k for a super clean 45k 07 SE 1 owner FSH, this SE-L is almost three times!!
  14. No, my model (SE) only has the Tac/Speed indicator options. The rest of the options are an SE-L territory.
  15. I have the opposite, I want to disconnect the annoying beeps or at least lower the volume. I am a big boy and can reverse a live axle trailer in to a tight space without ever damaging anything, done so for over 35 years, I am not sure I like reverse sensors or cameras.
  16. Depending on your long term view of ownership and the mileage you do. I have my own logic so I took the decision to own only one car until I retire, in my case hopefully within 10-12 years. The IS250/auto build quality is what impressed me when I first started to look something that will suit my life style and the above logic. I needed a car that will do everything, short journeys, long journeys, quite when inside, stay hyper reliable and hype comfort all with regular service. I do max 5k a year so cost of fuel is not an issue. I am a big believer of keep things forever and hate the obsolete by design approach every complex consumer product has nowadays. I paid in mid 2021 around 5k for a 45k car and the IS250 is a perfect fit.
  17. We have the Tan interior so it's not practical to use the Lexus light coloured matts, changed to these bad boys, tailored and rubbered, what's not to like? https://www.carmats4u.com/lexus-is-250-is-220-2006-2013-rubber-over-mats.html
  18. My village garage is running since 1946, started by few ex German POW's. Previously, I counted on them to do a good job on more complicated vehicles we had like that awful 2012 Passat Swambo had. So I trust them to do a good and reasonably priced service on the fairly simple IS. They always allow you to bring your own parts and we even compare oil prices (they can never beat the eBay prices for C3 5w30). Full service is £50 for labour and a fiver for oil disposal. With £32 for a good oil and a Mann filter its just under £100.
  19. Now, that is spooky; my IS is currently on 47802! She is used every other day so I think around 5k/year. With brand new all season Nankangs front and back the ride is so much better than the old Dunlops x P7's so might use her even more.
  20. My daughter is the main passenger and she always leaves her cr**p in the door pockets, i keep of stuffing it with an old rag to keep rattles at bay, seems to work. With the state of the roads around here there is really no point of worrying about this, I literally did not see a smooth local road in years, it's all pot holes, creases from digging and tram lines from hgv's .
