  1. I've locked the keys in the boot too................. First day I drove home after picking up my Lex, fiancee came out and insisted I give her the keys for a spin round the block................. 15mins later she comes back with a big grin on her face and says "holy :tsktsk: it doesn't take long to get to 100mph does it!!!!!!!!!!!!" It was a fortnight later she realised it had a sixth gear !! She has more points on her licence than I do................
  2. Thats the one alright :D Very mean looking in black with tinted glass and lowered with full bodykit. Mystery solved cheers :D :D
  3. I saw a car unlike any other I've ever seen the other day. Out of curiosity I went to have a closer look............. Does anybody know anything about a Toyota jap import with "WILL V5" written on the back? It was the only thing written on the car with the exception of the Toyota logo and it was a 2001 model. It was an imported Toyota model, black 5 door hatch with a very high waistline, so high the rear passenger windows were very shallow, the rear end was v shaped pointed in the centre (like a primera but more severe)............. rear looked like a cross between a megane and a 147. It had large TRD decal on the bonnet and it was just the meanest looking bit of kit I've seen in a while.................. :o I've done a quick search round but can't find any info........... anyone?
  4. "Perfectionist" indeed....... :P Did brake before bend....... front end turned in but as rears had locked hence sideways ....... I just need to slow down
  5. Well suffice to say I had a BIG scare last night driving home :o :o :o :o I'm not the "driving Miss Daisy" type and tend to get the throttle jammed between my foot and the floor fairly regularly .................. anyhoo driving on a pretty crap back road but one I know extremely well. Road conditions were reasonably good, dry in most places with a couple of puddles about from showers earlier.............. was coming into a right hander doing around 65-70, you have to go hard on the brakes and I'd normally drop into 3rd to keep the revs high for better acceleration out of the bend................ so I hit the brakes, front end slows up as expected but holy s :tsktsk: t next thing I know the rear end is trying to pass me Don't know if it was just grit or dirt on the road or what but the rears seemed to lock up and next thing I know I'm broadsided going round the bend giving it armfuls of opposite lock and looking at the ditch on the other side of the road approaching rapidly . In that split second I had visions of me standing in a garage somewhere forking out ££££ for new bumper, grille, bonnet, wings headlamps and rad............... I let off the brakes and gave it socks as I had nothing to lose at that stage................. thank whoever is up there looking after me cos it gripped and pulled out of the bend....................... I drove the last two miles at 35mph I would have been a very drummerboy this morning if I'd smashed up my pride and joy
  6. Make / Model: OEM Bridgestone Potenza RE040 Size: 215/ 45 ZR17 on factory alloys (original tyres still) Mileage: 23,000 Thread left: Rear 50% (see below) Fronts 0% Driving Style Gentleman NEVER Lunatic WHENEVER POSSIBLE Had to replace a tyre as I punctured side wall, put spare on recently also so have 2 tyres at around 50% and the other 2 as as bald as a baby's arse I would have changed them weeks ago but need to get geometry done first and trying to find somewhere that knows what I am talking about and that I trust isn't easy. Dont want to ruin the new rubber. Inside fifth of fronts are dangerously bald and rears (which were on the front) also worn on inside fifth (camber / toe is off I suppose )
  7. Me no like............ They'd look better on a Civic or something............. think they cheapen a nice car
  8. Welcome to the club John (from fellow Dublin member) :D :D Any pics of your motor? Did you get insurance quotes for the mods or are you declaring them?Whats the insurance like on the standard 210bhp Altezza? I really want a supercharger for my IS but don't know if the insurance hike will permit

  15. Went for the battery option in the end (couldn't get link above to work)
  16. Before you shoot me for not searching............. I DID SEARCH Found lots of discussion about benefits of resetting, how resetting can be done by disconnecting battery but not by fuses? If you know which fuses just tell me........... it would take less time than giving out for not searching :D :D :D :P :P
  17. TC can be bloody dangerous on the IS sometimes especially trying to get accross an extremely busy junction with not alot of time to hang about. I f you floor it with the TC on the car gets "bogged down" and goes nowhere for what seems like an eternity (especially with a 40 ton truck bearing down on you ), One particular junction I cross every morning I have to turn it off (wet or dry) cos there is always some gravel / dirt on the road........... with the TC off at least I know I'm gonna get accross......... wheelspin can always be controlled with the right foot anyhow :D
  18. Well......... did you do the deal Diapason?
  19. Lexus Retains Title as Most Satisfying Brand to Own LONDON 14 April 2005—UK motorists rate MINI the most-improved brand in the J.D. Power and Associates/What Car? magazine 2005 Car Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) StudySM released today, and luxury Japanese brand Lexus tops the overall rankings for the fifth consecutive year. With a score of 848 index points (on a 1,000-point scale), Lexus retains its position as the most satisfying brand to own. Czech carmaker Skoda closely follows Lexus in second place with 847 index points. Honda ranks third with 843 index points, a 14-point increase from 2004. In the model rankings, the Honda Jazz ranks as the top model for the second consecutive year, scoring significantly higher than any other model. Three other Honda models place in the Top 20, including the Swindon-made Civic and CR-V. The Lexus IS 200/300 places second among the 124 models, and the Toyota Yaris ranks third. Japanese brands do not dominate the 2005 model rankings as they have in previous years, with 10 Japanese models ranking in the Top 20, compared to 14 in 2004. "This year’s results show that the competition is getting tighter," said Dave Sargent, executive director of European operations at J.D. Power and Associates. "While Lexus still leads, other brands are improving quickly, and many of the best performances this year are achieved by models from brands such as Honda, Toyota, Skoda, MINI and Kia. It is encouraging for UK motorists that good-quality, satisfying cars come in all shapes and sizes and at all price levels. Also, many of the leading models, including some from Japanese brands, are built right here in the UK." Among the 17 brands ranked above the overall industry average, seven are nameplates from Japan, with other nameplates from the UK, Germany, Sweden, Czech Republic and Korea also ranking above the average. The 2005 J.D. Power and Associates/What Car? study is based on the evaluations of more than 23,000 owners of ‘52’ and ‘03’ registration vehicles after an average of two years of ownership. The study includes 32 brands and 124 models. Owners provide detailed evaluations of their vehicles and selling dealers, which covers 77 attributes grouped into four main factors of satisfaction. The importance of each factor is shown as a percentage: Quality and Reliability (30%) Vehicle Appeal (28%) includes performance, design, comfort and features Dealer Service Satisfaction (22%) Ownership Costs (19%) includes fuel consumption, insurance and costs of service/repair The annual J.D. Power and Associates/What Car? study is designed to help manufacturers provide high levels of satisfaction to their customers, and gives consumers access to reliable and accurate information about many different vehicle models.
  20. It depends on the year lads............. I have the base model............ its called IS200 Chenille here and I have the 17" five spokes.............. they seem to start fitting them as standard here sometime mid 2000 as I have never seen the 16"'s on anything younger than a 2000 regardless of trim level. Si, you mentioned a sports suspension? From looking at your pics I don't think that is the Sport model (correct me if I am wrong guys??) so I think your dealer might be waffling there............ if it has alloy gear knob and drilled aluminium pedals then its a Sport which comes with a lower suspension set up and LSD. Did you ckeck this one out? Looks like it has the 16"s but has body kit, leather, sport grille .......... http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?f...ar&carID=172916
