  1. I have a 23 (24 model) 450 Premium Plus and it is as described by Ken. I in fact had the opposite problem to the OP initially as I wanted to turn that feature off! I was on a trip in a strange city with lots of tight turns on junctions with multiple exits and the screen would change from the sat nav just at the moment when you needed to know which way to turn next and if you did manage to switch back manually it would sometimes immediately come back on resulting in a couple of missed turns. To switch it works exactly as described previously but I find it less annoying to keep it on non auto and switch it on as required with the "view" button. John
  2. Had a similar issue on my 450h+ a few weeks ago. In the end I changed my password and all has been ok since. I think the issue might be that the system now requires a different ‘Standard’ for passwords regarding type and no of characters as I could not log in to the main website either with my old password john
  3. Not sure about older cars but my 2023 -24 model -NX 450h+ certainly has a speed limiter as per a number of MBenz I have had. interestingly when I took delivery of the car I asked the salesman during handover about this function and was told it did not have it - I phoned him the next day to tell him he was wrong! my 2019 UX takumi certainly did not have it so must be a new addition john
  4. John re intelligent octopus. the answer currently is clear - you can not currently have intelligent octopus with a Lexus unless you have an Ohme unit. I have just switched over to Go Octopus for my NX450H+ with a Zappi charger. Once you get the programming of the system right you can use just surplus energy that you would have exported or charge in the 4 hour window early morning for currently under 10p per Kwh you can also top up your solar system batteries if you have them for the same cheap rate. seems to work ok but one downside is that if you go foe either of the octopus car tariffs you can no longer get 15p per kWh for any exported energy - it reverts to their standard rate which is just over 4p. for a plug-in hybrid I think go octopus will work well as you can easily fully charge in the 4 hour cheap window - not so sure about using it with a full EV however hope that helps John
  5. Thanks Andy one of the first things I checked - as I said the Lexus navigation instructions are loud and clear john
  6. Hi all I have looked on the forum but can not find an answer so apologies if it has been previously covered. I have a 450h+ which is about 5 weeks old now and slowly getting to grips with all the tech etc. One problem that is causing me problems is the spoken navigation instructions when using Apple Maps. It used to work but on a recent long journey we pit stopped for fuel and coffee and on restarting the navigation worked fine with the instructions showing on screen and on the heads up display but no spoken commands which were there before the stop. I have tried all the settings and can not find anything wrong - if you set the journey on the phone before getting in the car the phone speaks the first command but as soon as the car connects the voice commands stop. The Lexus navigation system sounds work fine. I prefer the Apple maps as you can set the destinations before you set off on the phone which you can not do on the Lexus navigation (a retrograde step as my 2019 UX could handle that!) Probably something simple but any help would be appreciated Thanks John
  7. My 2019 UX has the SOS system fitted. It was one of the early cars delivered to customers so presume that all UXs have it John
  8. I have been away and caught the dreaded Covid as a North Wales souvenir but have just found out that the proposed Japanese day at Brooklands in August has been cancelled. It is apparently being reorganised for 2023 at some time. Sorry about this but out of my control! I will post details of a new date when I see it. John
  9. Hi X100 The date is OK as far as I know - I have a flyer from the museum confirming the date. I have queried with the museum why it is not on their website yet but have not yet had a response. I am a Member at the museum and work with the Members on their Outreach Program and we have been handing out Flyers with the info on for some weeks now and do not understand why it is not on the Museum's website which is why I queried it with them As I said if any individual group wants to book an area where all their cars can gather they need to contact the museum to arrange this. There is not normally a charge for doing this. As I am not an F owner I think someone else should contact the museum to arrange this. I also have a 60's Lotus and have arranged to have specific areas reserved for Lotus Club meets in the past without any issues. Let me know if I can help in any way - I will be there on the day probably working on the Members Stand. Take care John
  10. As a suggestion I found out at the weekend that Brooklands Museum in Weybridge is having their first ever Japanese car and bike day on Sunday the 21st of August. Don’t think the details are on the website yet but normal museum admission would apply. There are group discounts available and the museum will reserve specific areas for clubs / interest groups if you ask. If you haven’t been to the Museum before it’s well worth a visit. John
  11. FWIW I am about to order a 450h+ and queried the dealer on the reason for no ML and no Panoramic roof. Answer was 'weight' and the 'need' to get it into a lower tax bracket. John
  12. My second car - not used much for shopping trips (boot too small for the better half's normal shop!) Much more fun though than the UX particularly on the local back roads. ps It's the yellow one not the one with the Pointed Nose! John
  13. For what its worth I have just had to buy my Daughter a 'new car' as her old one was 'rear ended' and written off just before Christmas. The other driver accepted full responsibility and they provided a hire car for a 'limited' period while she got sorted out with a new motor. We had the same problem of not being able to 'enter' the showroom or test drive a vehicle but there is nothing to stop you visiting the forecourt and looking at the cars. We ended up buying a car from the same dealer group - Inchcape - but it was in stock at a different location as the one in stock at our local dealer that we thought we would buy was sold just before we phoned! The handover was a bit weird as we had to stand out side the dealer and sign everything virtually on the phone - having already paid the full amount a few days previous. We bought an early 2018 Yaris Hybrid and have the option of returning it in the first 14 days if we are not happy with it. I do not think that if you are buying from a recognised Lexus dealer that you would have any issues - but I certainly would not buy this way from your typical back street dealer. My Daughter - and Grandson - are happy with the car and unless something drastic happens it will not be returned. All the best in your search! John
  14. Hi Max My UX's first service - that was booked for the end of March - was cancelled and I have received a new date from Lexus Guildford for the service which is June 9th. They will be picking the car up as I am unable to take it to the dealer as I am 'Shielding' due to health issues. Hope that helps John
  15. Hi Steve hopefully I can answer this one. AGM stands for Absorbent Glass Mat you can google it to find out the differences if you are interested. The CTEK MXS 5.0 has a charge mode specifically for AGM batteries - it just needs one more press of the 'mode' button than a standard wet cell type car battery and is clearly identified on the charger so you should have no problems getting the right setting. Hope that helps John
  16. Have got my UX booked in on the 30th for its first service. Received confirmation on what they are doing and it included the following Code: MEC Time: 01.00 Status: M Price: £0.00 Details: INSTALL APPLE CAR PLAY IF AVAILABLE PLEASE LET CUSTOMER KNOW IN ADVANCE IF AVAILABLE HOW LONG So it looks like it is possibly available and FOC. I will let you know if it does get done. John
  17. Hi Frank Almost identical problem on my Takumi. Only showing at the moment on the drivers side but that is probably because 80% of the time I have no passenger! It is booked in for the first service at the end of the month and intended to raise it with the dealer then even before I saw your note. Never had a similar problem with Mercedes or Audi especially after only 4k miles. John
  18. I never said that the T005A was an all-weather. Bridgestone do an all weather run flat under the Turanza brand that is the right size. BRIDGESTONE TURANZA EL450 225/50 R18 95V When I first test drove the UX it was shod with these and I was led to understand by the dealer that all UK UX's would come with that tyre. Mine came with Dunlop summers and obviously others have the Bridgestone summers. The EL540's are available in the UK from Tyreleader for just over £150 a corner. I presumed that the Bridgestones being fitted to production tyres were the same as those on my test drive car which seems may be not the case From feed back on this forum the Dunlops are apparently not so noisy as the Bridgestones but can not say for sure as have not driven them back to back. John
  19. Hi Ryan I have a UX that is one of the first batch to arrive and registered in March 19 and I too am experiencing similar symptoms. The ABS seems occasionally to kick in at very low speeds and certainly not in situations where you would expect it too. Seems to be random with no pattern. I was going to mention it when it is due a service but based on the above will probably take it in for the Dealer to take a look. John
  20. Hi Alan There have been previous postings on this subject. The big difference is that the Bridgestones are all weather tyres and the Dunlops regular summer so the tread patterns are vastly different. I have Dunlops on my Takumi and they are very quiet but actually wanted Bridgestones so I did not have to faf around putting winter tyres on. I am thinking now about getting some all weather tyres fitted and keeping them on but might look for a different brand as there has been a lot of comment about the Bridgestones being noisy although I did not notice that when I test drove a car with them on. There are a few options available for runflat all weathers in the right size for the UX. I run my Classic 60's Lotus Elan with Vredestein all weather tyres on and they are great all year round (I am one of those rare classic owners who drive their car all year round!) Hope that helps John
  21. Hi Jeff Have not fitted the extra warning buzzer on my UX as its not needed but have fitted one on my 69 Lotus Elan for the same reasons ie could not hear the original and the self cancel did not always work. Has been fitted for about 5 years now and works great. The one I fitted was sold as a motorcycle fitment and it does not start beeping loud for the first few blinks so probably would not come on and annoy you if you are using the quick lane change flash feature. Very easy to fit and highly recommended for similar situations. John
  22. Martin I installed my old Nextbase Duo as soon as I took delivery of my UX in late March. I used the standard Nextbase Hardwire kit piggy backing into the fuse box under the glove box. Worked fine but was having issues with the same camera on my Elan so put the one from the Lexus into the Elan and bought a new unit for the UX Went for the Nextbase 522 and their Rear window add on camera and it installed without any problems using the existing hard wire kit. I always go for a rear view camera as well as I have been hit up the rear a couple of times! (The car not me!) John
  23. Hi John Welcome I'm sure you will love your new car. In answer to your queries 1) my car came with an abridged set of hard copy manuals so I would ask the dealer for a set. The online versions are easy to download if you want more details and info. 2) when you lock the car using the indent on the handle if you press a second time within 5 seconds it will deadlock the car. Same with the remote - press lock twice within 5 seconds to deadlock. 3) you can program various opening sequences like you describe - the details are in the online manual on pages 148 / 9 Hope that was of some help John
  24. I use a Prince Lionheart two piece seat protector when my Grandson is in my UX Takumi. Have used it in my previous two vehicles as well all with full leather and have had no issues. Protects both seat and back. Available on Amazon and elsewhere for a reasonable price. John
  25. Steve in my opinion a speed limiter and any cruise control are used for two different purposes. The speed limiter is to stop you accidentally drifting over the set speed limit and possibly getting a ticket or worse. I only ever used to use it in built up areas. Using cruise control - normal or radar controlled - which is designed to be used on open free flowing roads in a built up area is frankly a dangerous thing to do and something I would never even attempt to try in a built up area. John
