  1. I have a mysterious button on the lower drivers side of the dash. It's not documented in the manual and there's no indication on the dash of what it is/does, I haven't a clue. It lights up with the other dash lights. It is spring loaded and seems to be a toggle for something. Holding it in there is two audio bleeps and, if lit, the light goes out. Hold it in again then there is a single bleep and it lights up again. I've watched the dash while switching it on and off and there's nothing visible happening. Anybody have a clue? Afterburner power switch perhaps. 🤣
  2. A few years ago I had a Toyota Celica GT4 Turbo which was newly imported from Japan with 100k (60,000 miles) on the clock. I filled my first tank with standard 'supermarket petrol' 95RON. It ran like crap, poor acceleration and misfiring. I joined the GT4 Owners Club on the internet and found that, the British version of the GT4 ran quite happily on 'supermarket petrol', but, the import version required 97/99RON petrol. I found a Shell garage 8 miles from home that had VPower (or was it Powermax back then?). After filling up with that there was a major difference in performance and no more misfiring. I had the car for 3 years and always had to watch the fuel gauge til quarter full then head off to the garage. When I got the Lexus 3 weeks ago the first thing I checked for in the manual was what octane fuel it required. Was very pleased to see 95RON sold at my local Esso garage 1 mile from home, phew!
  3. Didn't have a DVD to watch, was just seeing if the screens and DVD player switched on. I was aware of the battery situation just using the ACC position. Gonna raid my sons bedroom for DVDs. 😀
  4. I just had a daft issue this afternoon. Just had the rx400h se-l for 3 weeks, parked at the local reservoir I decided to investigate the screens and DVD player in the rear of the car. I knew that I needed the ignition on AC for the screens to switch on. So, jumped in the back and started checking, went to get out and the child locks were set on the door, so, I couldn't get out. No problem, just open the window and open the door from the outside.......... nope. Had to lean over between the front seats and open the rear window from the drivers armrest 🙄. Child locks are now disabled. 😂
  5. When I had my Toyota Celica GT4 a few years ago the guys in the owners club found that putting their mothers as a named driver on their insurance brought the premiums down dramatically. A few of the guys didn't even tell their mothers lol. I wonder if that trick still works?
  6. Traction control flashes on an orange background on my rx400h when I get a heavy right foot occasionally. Could it be that (brisk acceleration)?
  7. I've just got an up to-date DVD yesterday, Europe West E1G. Its the same very slow to input info, works fine on route.
  8. Sat Nav DVD arrived today and well, well, well, displays ETA or time to destination as it should. Also noticed that the screen splits on approach to junctions, roundabouts, etc. showing the overall map on the left of the screen and zoomed in detail of the junction on the right of the screen with a black background. The other nice thing is if you venture off the destination route it will re-route automatically. The previous DVD would not do that. Only thing is the slow response when trying to programming various things.
  9. As stated above I don't intend to run this low normally, this was just an experiment to get an idea of what reserve I've got (in miles). I intend to fill up when the fuel low light comes on or 300 miles on the trip counter since the last fillup, after all, there's still 3.3 gallons in the tank.
  10. Don't intend to run the tank this low in general. But, it was an interesting experiment to see how far I dare go after the fuel low light comes on. I'm now confident that I've got over 50 miles in the tank if I'm in a pinch. Also, I can expect around 300 miles from fuel low light to fuel low light which leaves 15 litres = 3.3 imperial gallons still in the tank. 🙂 Incidentally, I have used http://www.fuelly.com on my iPhone for mpg details etc. for my last few vehicles.
  11. As a new owner the first few fill ups were around 50 litres when the garage fuel pump cuts off and I was getting less than 300 miles to a tankfull. i read in the manual that the rx400h has a 65 litre tank, so, that meant there must be still 15 litres as a reserve. A quick calculation concluded I should have 88 miles left in the tank after the fuel low light comes on, I was always lead to believe most cars have about 50 miles left in the tank as a reserve. Thought I would try setting Trip B to zero when my fuel light came on, Trip A was showing how far I travelled on this tank of fuel. This is where it gets to be fun (no petrol can as backup), the first time I got to 27 miles and bottled out. When I filled the tank it took 57 litres......... the next time (this Monday just gone) I got to 54.7 miles from fuel light on and the tank took 58 litres and total of 357 miles from that previous tankfull. Oh btw, this is on standard Esso 95ron octane petrol. Don't think I'll try to go further without a backup can of petrol, my nerves won't take it lol. But at least I now know I can safely travel 50 miles after the fuel light comes on. So, has anybody gone further or anyone deliberately ran out with a backup can of petrol to see how far the car will go?
  12. Yes, as a new owner (20 days) I’ve been keeping an eye on the fuel consumption. I was initially getting 27mpg around the doors and now that has risen to 30mpg. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Yes original 2007 sat nav DVD. I will be ordering the latest to see if that helps.
  14. When I bought my 2007 rx400h two weeks ago I found this attached to a bracket in the glovebox. Takes an SD Card, USB stick or Auxiliary input and is wired into the Mark Levison entertainment system. 😎 It also has an iPhone cable that charges, dunno if it plays music from the iPhone though (don't have music on my iPhone). Currently have an SD Card in with the latest Ibiza house tunes for this year, sound quality is fantastic. 😏 Ironically, as a Professional DJ I rarely play music in the car, get enough at work 🤣 Still, good to checkout new tunes though.
  15. I can't figure out how they determine car insurance. In the past I've had a Celica GT4, Mini Cooper 'S' and 3 years ago a BMW Z3. The Z3 cost me £240 fully comp, traded it in for a Transit Connect van which was £280 fully comp! Couldn't believe the jump in insurance from a 140mph sportscar to a crappy van that couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding lol. These were all under £300 to insure. Traded the Connect for a Renault Trafic that cost £380 fully comp, it was private transport (stealth camper as was the Connect). Two weeks ago I traded the Trafic for my Lexus 2007 rx400h........... £585 fully comp!!! WTF! This from the Meerkat search engine, I ended up with Swift Insurance who I was with for the Mini Cooper 'S'. All the above fully comp with 90 million years no claims. Pah, where do they get these figures from. I'm also 67 although still working.
  16. I'm having the same problem with my (new to me) 2007 rx400h. I've yet to find and check the fuse. Filled the windscreen washer fluid to full. Headlights on and nothing, can't hear any pump noises either.
  17. Nope, that doesn't work, ETA is still blank. I have a Garmin sat nav i've had since 2006. Don't want untidy, messy bracket and wires on the dash thanks. I've got Scout on my iPhone that's updated regularly, I've had Waze on before, but, same answer, I don't want an untidy mess of a bracket and wires cluttering up the dash. As mentioned I topped up the washer bottle to full and the headlamp washers don't work. I did not hear the pump working.
  18. 2007 rx400h SE-L The sat nav is unbelievable clunky. I traded in a 2013 Renault Traffic van with sat nav for this piece of junk!!! Great car, but, can't believe how unfriendly the sat nav is. The Traffic was easy to use and very user friendly. I expected the same or better from Lexus, can't believe how bad it is. 1, Whatever destination i put in there is no ETA readout. I have the distance, but, not actual time. I've checked every setting and read the manual back to front and still can't find an answer. This is a big issue for me as I'm not that interested in the directions, but, more the ETA. I'm thinking it's most likely a blown fuse, any ideas? 2. My headlight washers don't work. I topped up the washer fluid and tried them with the headlights on and no joy. Again I'm thinking that this maybe a fuse needs replacing. Anybody have any answers?
  19. Thanks, you guys can find me here; www.djles.co.uk
  20. Just bought an RX400h last week. When i got a report on it in advance of buying it I found that it has had several private registration plates on it. It's back to it's original plate which is RV07ONN. As a professional DJ I had to giggle. Should I change my stage name to Rave On??? 🤣
