  1. Would describe ride as on the soft side of firm. Put out the call to meet up with another owner and compare rides maybe? I will be crossing Dartford on Friday about 2pm.
  2. 58 and late for the party. Started with a Cortina. Moved swiftly on to Rover P6 V8 at Uni....as you do. 25 years in Saabs. Back to a 3500cc, but with two less pistons and twice as many horses. How does that work?
  3. Waiting for next door MIL to give up driving then I can fit one in her garage. GS fits in mine with one inch to spare.
  4. MOT history correlates with service book. I would have thought that the Lexus Edgware guy could have definitively stated whether the 2016 stamp for 2013 was a red flag.
  5. Wow. That is harsh. Were they closed for servicing or just showroom closed? That is why I ensured to book my next hybrid test 51 weeks after the last.....just to be sure.
  6. I reckon I have another 25 years before I have to hang up my spurs.
  7. Good plan. Arrange for a test drive via Lexus main dealer. £59 well spent.
  8. Also remember these cars do not have a starter motor. Hybrid system goes down and car will not start.
  9. It takes a brave chap to surrender his car. I know for a fact I started to feel decidedly worried for other road users when my dad was at the wheel of his Landrover just prior to him giving up driving at about 84. I was a passenger and he was not the same driver that he used to be.
  10. Engine is fine, unstressed V6 good for many miles. Age is going to be the main thing that dictates price. Unless you know what the fault is you might end up paying £9000 for the car in the end. To accept the unknown hybrid problem I would want it at a lower price. That is just me.
  11. Not sure that low miles is the be all and end all. If that car had 100k miles and an unresolved check hybrid light I would think it worth £2500 max.
  12. He was driving the car with his wife a couple of weeks ago. Pulled over and said he did not think he was safe anymore, as his eyesight was not good enough. She drove home.
  13. My son is about to be gifted a three year old Hybrid Yaris in June from his grandfather who has sensibly agreed to give up driving. A voluntary decision at the age of 85. Ex traffic cop. I think the boy is very happy with the decision!
  14. Nothing for us to add until you hear one way or the other. Good luck and let us know the outcome.
  15. Indy garage replaced my radiator and put in fresh coolant. (GS450h) Is hybrid coolant a completely closed system? Car booked in with Lexus for a minor service soon. I can ask them to flush hybrid coolant if necessary.
  16. If car still runs then I would have thought light alone would not be a fail.
  17. Would have to be a good car in every other regard to tempt me. All gs450h drivers have the sure knowledge that eventually we will be faced with that little light of doom on the dashboard. Either pay up to fix or sell for peanuts.
  18. Lucky if seller can achieve £1k. You may end up paying £2k to resolve problem.
  19. I wonder if you got Lexus to supply and fit a new battery whether they would then guarantee THAT battery for another 15 years as they do with the original?
  20. Think this thread is getting tied in knots. See what I did there? Washed mine yesterday. Good for another 1kw of power output surely?
