  1. I used mine for a minor service at Lexus Guildford. When dropping off car in he wrote add discount on the booking sheet. However no discount was explicitly shown on final bill. Final price was pretty much the same as initially quoted but with new windscreen wipers appearing to be thrown in as a freebie.
  2. Was tempted a few years ago. Kind of like the VW Phaeton. Where the company made a loss with each car sold. Other nominations. Saab 9000.
  3. Gs450h acceleration is as rapid as you want it to be. Seldom does it leave you wanting more. Boot space is the only gripe. RX450h may have the boot space but loses it big time in the looks department compared to the GS.
  4. I thought the GS450h was thought of as the sportier version of the LS600h. Just without the heavy baggage of Shiatsu massage options and horrendously expensive air suspension.
  5. A lot of those 25 year olds are now 40! Ha Ha. That will teach them for bragging about being young.
  6. Fired up this morning. Purple nearly empty showing on battery charge. Within three miles on a flat road it had reached green!
  7. I was interested to see the Lexus all clear, as I had recently had a Hunter alignment done. Last year they offered me an air con refresh, emphasis on the con. This year no effort to bump up the measly service bill. £240.
  8. Also took mine in yesterday. Intermediate service. Report does have 4 wheel geometry check. Mine was green. No attempt to con me.
  9. Another year another Lexus main dealer service plus hybrid check. Intermediate service with new windscreen wipers. £220. Happy days. And this year they washed it! One shock absorber is showing signs of weeping.
  10. Best advice for hybrid driving. Use the petrol engine to accelerate up to speed, NOT the electric battery. Then ease off the pedal a tad. That way you have max energy left for helping propel you along.
  11. I have a 4 tonne motorhome with a 2.8 litre diesel. Averaged 28mpg over a three month tour of Scandinavia. Took my 2 tonne 3.5 litre Lexus petrol hybrid to Switzerland and averaged 34 (with a top box as the boot is so rubbish). Have managed 46mpg on a 150 mile trip by driving at 55. Cruising speed has everything to do with it. If my motorhome could reach 80 mph then the mpg would probably be under 10mpg. Drive slower and any car will give you better figures.
  12. Retro fitted them to my 20 year old motorhome. £30 for a six wheels pressure display. And it tells you exactly which tyre is low unlike the factory TPMS system that tells you to get out of your car and look at all your wheels and then guess which one might be low.
  13. SRD tuning near Ansty in West Sussex. Owner drives a 600h. They did my 450h. Great blokes.
  14. Very tricky decision to pay top dollar for a low miler. Mine is exactly the same age and spec, but black, with 60k more miles. Would I want to pay more than £3k to halve the miles? If yes then I would not expect engine to be leaking oil. Suspect there is a deal to be done after some serious haggling.
  15. You not got internet? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202105142610495
  16. Concentrate on exhaust crustiness. Easiest big expense to spot. Most other things are expert eye dependent. Matching tyres and a good brand will indicate if it has been well cared for.
  17. True. I have noticed lpg is getting harder to find these days. Any fuel station refurb usually does away with it.
  18. It is all about the maths at the end of the day. Spend £50,000 on a brand new vehicle that will be worth £5,000 after ten years. Or spend £5,000 on a ten year old vehicle and throw a little money at it. I know I will not be throwing £4000 a year in maintenance and depreciation on mine.
  19. Thankfully we are all only on the planet for 80+ years.
  20. If you plan on doing 20,000 miles a year then leave alone. If you plan on doing 5000 miles a year then have a look. All I can say is I am glad I don't live in Ireland when buying a car. However, I live in the South of England and would prefer Irish prices when buying a house.
  21. 145,000 miles only a little over what you would think ok. Mine has 105k. Last Saab I had was 280k miles. Car should be good for 200k miles on one engine. Work out if you think you will have it when it ticks over the 200.
