  1. Why not we all club together and have a whip-round to buy the damned thing? Then we might get some peace.
  2. Yes it was Roys Motor Company. And the £256 was for BOTH sides.
  3. A similarly independent Toyota/Lexus garage charged me £256 last year.
  4. And then, to make even MORE profit, they move their call centres abroad, with consequent UK job losses.
  5. My '96 Mk3 idles at 1000 rev/min when cold. Makes for interesting progress when moving from a standstill in icy conditions, when car does wheelspin whenever one lets off the brake.
  6. Hey, you can put me down for a pair on bonnet struts, if that would help you get a discount.
  7. Undo two screws at bottom of back of seat and unclip seat back. there are two heating pads - one vertical, one for bum. Not too difficult to change.
  8. Jaguars have certainly improved, but are still beset with problems. It is the Customer Satisfaction Surveys that they do well in - not reliability ones. The dealers bend over backwards to mollify the customers, you see.
  9. Good thinking. A few years ago the best anti-theft device was to park next to a Sierra Cosworth...
  10. I don't want to look at BMWs, when I log on to the LOC. Harrrumph.
  11. I feel quite sure if you explain the prob, someone out there will have the solution. We must get you into that LS. You must have Chateauneuf du Pape, not Blue Nun!
  12. Also, seeking to deny the output of a modern piston engine by citing the output of one made 75 years ago is a strange piece of thinking. How about the 1500 bhp wrung from the 4-cyl, 1.5 litre BMW F1 unit, some 25 years ago?
  13. But what's the rush may I ask? I TAKE YOUR POINT. IT'S JUST THAT I DID ONCE BUY A SMALL DIAPHRAGM-TYPE INFLATOR AND WHEN I TRIED TO ADD ABOUT 3 PSI TO ONE MY TYRES, I GREW A BEARD WAITING. HOPEFULLY THE MICHELIN THINGY IS BETTER THAN THIS.
  14. Thanks for link, Jock Super Seven. Interesting. But can anyone tell me how fast is the Michelin inflator? Will it top up, say 4 psi, in a few seconds? That is, as fast as a forecourt jobbie?
  15. I dislike inflating my tyres on garage forecourts, so I don't check tyre pressures as often as I should. Also there's the problem of the trouble & strife who has never inflated a tyre in her life (but then, I cannot make pastry), so her tyre pressures are checked/inflated even less often. = A Bad Thing. So... Have decided to buy a compressor, with appropriate fittings, so I can do this job at home. Probably keep it under the bench at end of garage. First question is, does anyone know what size built-in tank I should get with it, to give enough capacity to top up all four rubbers on the LS, without waiting for it to "charge up" in mid-use? Second question, is there a minimum horsepower I should go for? 1.5hp? 2hp? Or more? Hope someone can help, in case I buy something that's too feeble for the job.
  16. Mister Skellington, you already asked me this question! www.autosound.co.uk - fixed the backlighting and did an improvement mod. to the circuit. They also replaced the LCD. Done 7 months ago, still perfect. Cost £180 inc VAT, which was 10% of what Lexus Norwich quoted me (no comment). Now I can see what track I am playing, as well as see the buttons at night - worth every pound! Getting it out? Took me 45 mins the first time, and about 10 mins the second. I used a flat-bladed scraper to prise up the wood.
  17. Autosound in Bradford did mine - they are used by Lexus main agents!
  18. I also seem to remember that car must be in Park, with foot off the brake pedal.
  19. The standard wheels on a MK IV are so darned plain that I would think a strong consideration for choosing one with DHP would simply be to get the better-looking ones.
  20. I'm sorry to hear of your woes: hope you get them sorted and can enjoy the car properly. However, I have some sort of flu bug and feel really rough, but your tale made me larf out loud and now I feel a bit better. Happy New Year!
