  1. Our CT is a gen 3 Prius. Stages of warming up aka why ev works to 20mph/30mph: The Stages: S0: it is from power on until the ICE starting for warming up (approx 12 seconds) you can enable the EV-Drive Mode during this S0, if the conditions are allowed so (refer to your owner's manual) the EV-Drive Mode can not be turn on when (1)the temperature of the hybrid system is high (ie; the hybrid battery is above 46C), (2)the temperature of the hybrid system is low (ie; the hybrid battery is below 0C), (3)the hybrid battery charge level is low (three bars or less), (4)the windshield defogger is in use or (5)the engine coolant temperature is below 0C (maybe 20C on the US Prius) S1a: when the start coolant temperature is below 40C, the warming up starts and continues for approx 50 seconds after S0. you can not enable the EV-Drive Mode during this S1a. the ignition timing is very late, after the top dead center. therefore the engine does not have enough power to drive Prius or charge battery. basically, Prius can not use the engine power when you drive. Prius is driven by battery power and the battery is discharged. it is good idea to drive slowly or stand still warming up in this stage. when the start coolant temperature is between 41C and 60C, Prius is in this stage, but the engine does not start automatically. when you press the accelerator (including driving), the engine starts and runs for approx 50 seconds or until the coolant temperature reaches 65C. the ignition timing is very late too. S1b: this is an extended warming up stage. you also can not enable the EV-Drive Mode during thisS1b on Gen3. (you can enable the EV-Drive Mode on Gen2) the ignition timing is now normal, and the engine is able to provide power and charge battery. you are now ready to drive without any penalty of battery discharging. ( A ) if the the coolant temperature is still below 40C after S1a, the warming up continues until 40C. ( B ) if the the coolant temperature is between 40C and 50C after S1a, the warming up continues until 50C. ( C ) if the the coolant temperature is between 50C and 60C after S1a, the warming up continues until 65C. S2: after the S1a or S1b, Prius goes to this stage. Prius acts as normal until the coolant temperature becomes 70C (going to S3). The EV mode speed is limited below 10 mph on the NA Prius. S3: when coolant temperature becomes above 70C, Prius goes to this stage. Prius acts as normal, but Prius requires an "idling check ceremony". The EV mode speed is now allowed up to 25 mph on the NA Prius. the "idling check ceremony" is done during an accelerator off gliding for several seconds on Gen3. (on Gen2, Prius needs a complete stop or very slow walking speed for the ceremony) the engine continues to run during the several seconds ceremony. after the ceremony, Prius goes to the S4. S4: Prius now completed the warming up stages and in a full normal condition. if the coolant temperature is above 60C on power up, Prius is already in this stage.
  2. There was one single example on the Facebook group when someone cut through the catloc. They seem to have a weakspot compared to the regular ebay one. Can't remember where was it. I don't want to ruin your hopes but a catloc is definitely a step ahead and it will deter 99% of the thieves.
  3. Yeah, those two ports are mostly for maintaining the charge.
  4. £240 for a non-agm battery, am I reading this right?
  5. I get your point but: I am yet to find someone having his cat cut with a shield on. I'm active on both Jazz and CT/Prius/Auris facebook groups since this cat theft mania started and this has never happened. If I follow your advise, the CT/Prius/Auris is not worth a buy, at all.
  6. If you plan to keep the car until it reaches 100k miles, do the normal 10k miles. If you plan for more than 100k, 5k if you mainly do 60mph on highways or city driving, 7-8k if you do 70-80mph highways. I also recommend every 60k an EGR and intake manifold clean up as gen 3 hybrid is notorious for getting them clogged.
  7. Get your oil changed every 5k or 7-8k at most and you will be fine.
  8. This are the offical steps from Toyota. Give it a go and let us know. Steps link.
  9. 22000/8 that is almost 3000/year. If the car has years with less than 1k/year according to mot data, I would skip. I bought myself a luxury 2014 and I regret didnt getting the premier that has tilting side mirros, led lights, ML sound, photochromatic central mirror but if I had to choose between a possible bad battery and less extras, I'd go for less extras. A battery is more than a thousand. You could ask the dealer if they can do a life expectancy test on the batteries on both cars. I can do with my bluetooth adapter and Dr Prius app but I am sure they are able aswell.

MOT also gives you a mileage history. How much the car has run every year, you can spot it there.

    Rust

That rust looks bad. It might've been stationed for months or a even a couple years, what does mot mileage history say? All cars no matter how realible they are in theory, need to be properly inspected. Low mileage is great if it is actually driven and not stationed for long periods of time. On hybrid cars, no matter the brand, the batteries will suffer quite a lot from long periods of no use. I'd give it back in this case. Let us know how it went with the dealer.
  12. I wonder how thick is the one supplied by Lexus.
  13. The vent is there but the filter is missing on my 2014. The filter is the one that needs to be cleaned on a yearly basis. Also the fan inside the vent, down at the battery could use a cleaning once 5 years. AMD (Toyota Care Nut on Youtube) recommends 6y/60k miles trans oil change with dealer oil. AMD is a toyota master tehnician for 10+ years. Edit: this is the filter
  14. Keep brake pressed, press P and then switch to D.
  15. @SRVO Can you attach the file with the instructions? I believe it might say to format your usb flash as fat32.
  16. @elmexicanohow much do they charge for a pair?
