  1. Does the aircon system need regular servicing? If so then is it in the Lexus maintenance schedule and if so how often?
  2. Guys, I have used the aircon cleaner and the car does now smell nice with the aircon working. However, the musty smell I had originally is still there! When I select warm air, and the aircon is off, I get the smell but it only lasts a couple of minutes then seems to disappear. I don't know the IS heating/ventilation system but I assume that the heater matrix didn't benefit from the aircon cleaner as I set it for aircon only when I used it; could the smell be coming from there? Perhaps others have had this same problem and could help me please. Thanks
  3. Thanks for all the advice guys, much appreciated.... I've just bought some CARPLAN aircon cleaner off ebay for £7.99 so will give it a go before the service. If it works I'll have saved myself over £90!! Cheers :D
  4. I won't name them but they are highly rated in the dealer reviews and are not a million miles off the A1(M) in Hertfordshire
  5. Thanks Aido, I remember that post but have always thought water and electrics just don't mix! Might give it a go just the same. Still can't really see why Lexus need to regas the system which is working fine.... why not just put the bacteria killer stuff through, mind you that would no doubt cost a lot less (or am i just being cynical??)
  6. Hi, I recently booked a 30k service for my car with a Lexus dealer and mentioned to the service guy that I was getting a musty smell inside the car when the the aircon was operating. He recommended a de-gas/re-gas of the system (I think that's what he said) which will cost around £99. I asked if that would cure the smell and he said it would. Now, not being an aircon expert I agreed but thinking about it afterwards couldn't see how that would cure the smell. Do you think they are trying to con me (no pun intended!). Perhaps someone can confirm that this would sort out the problem smell and if so whether £99 is a fair price for this. Thanks
  7. I'd take the car to the dealer and pay for an MOT to be done. Any major failure would surely be covered by the warranty as the car is not yet 3 years old?
  8. I believe there was a thread about this some time ago. One possible answer is to turn the ignition on and then wait for a second or two before starting the engine. Gives time for the ECU to sort itself out, or something like that. Must admit that it seems to work ok for me. Graham
  9. Why did you feel it necessary to jump a red light in the first place?
  10. I've seen this said before and wondered if a Lexus dealer would be willing to stamp the service book even though they hadn't supplied the oil themselves. If the car is still under warranty I'd have thought it even less likely as they will have no idea what oil had been used so how could they stamp the service book as having done the service when they only did some and not all of it? I would imagine trying to make a warranty claim for an engine fault that may be oil related would be interesting to say the least!
  11. Thanks everyone for the advice. I have looked at the fog lights and can't see any water; is it obvious if there is any and if there is water present does it appear in the main clear part of the unit or the opaque round lens part? Cheers
  12. Oh dear, I hope it won't take a dealer that long to get to them or I'm looking at a rather hefty labour charge for possibly replacing 2 bulbs (if that's the fault of course) Just thought though, if these bulbs aren't exactly an easily replaceable item, as seems to be the case, shouldn't their replacement be covered under the Lexus warranty? Just wondered if anyone has come across this situation before?
  13. Yes, I'd like to check the bulbs but my difficulty is getting to them!
  14. Hi, Turned my front fog lights on yesterday and nothing happened. Bit odd as both were working OK a week or so ago. Have checked the fuse and that's OK; can hear a relay operate and the indication comes up on the dash but still no light. Thought I would check the bulbs but this is where I'm having difficulty. The handbook simply says to release 2 clips and remove the wheel arch liner but it seems securely fixed with a number of bolts as well. Also, previous threads on the subject mention ventilation slots in the liner for the auto version but I can't see any (the cars is a 53 reg). As the car is still under warranty I was thinking of letting the dealer have a look but if it's just the bulbs blown it could be an expensive visit! Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks
  15. Use them all the time and have never experienced a problem. Just don't apply labels to them as this may well cause problems.
  16. Don't feel stupid, it's probably happened to most of us! Glad you sorted it OK :D
  17. This may sound obvious but make sure you have plenty of washer fluid in the reservoir....I seem to remember mine did the same simply because there wasn't enough in it. Also you have to have the headlamps on for them to work. Hope this helps :D Graham
  18. Just wondered if anyone knows if Lexus recommend a particular oil to be used by their UK dealers or do the dealers choose an oil type themselves?
  19. I pulled the mechanism out as far as it would go but couldn't see exactly where to squirt the WD40 so unfortunately it's just the same as it was. The car is going in for a service in a couple of months so I'll mention it to them. If you manage to cure yours then please let me know how
  20. Mytyres.co.uk are doing these Avon ZZ3 tyres for £81.60 including delivery. Never had dealings with them but they get good customer feedback. :D
  21. I think there is an interior ultrasonic alarm system that can be disabled. A friend had a car and his alarm kept going off at random times and it turned out to be a spider in the car setting it off!
  22. Fiat Puntos have the water pump driven by the cambelt. Just had it and the cambelt changed for £98 labour and around £30 parts. The price quoted by Edgware seems crazy to me. Would be interesting to know how much other dealers would charge.
  23. Thanks Colin I'll give it a go. Just to clarify is it OK to pull the mechanism out as far as it will go...I don't want to break it!!
  24. Welcome to LOC mrose1976....... take a look at this thread about same subject, it might help you decide http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=18646
  25. Hi, I've got a small problem with the drivers side washer. It operates OK and washes the headlamp but only retracts part the way in afterwards. I can push it back in OK but then when I again use the washers it doesn't fully retract. Topped up the fluid but still the same. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem and the best way to sort it out. Car is still under warranty so could take it to Lexus but if a squirt of WD40 could cure it that would save me a journey. Thanks! :D
