  1. Hi Carl, welcome to LOC You need to find out if your car has the standard halogen bulbs - if so then you can get them from eBay This should give you an idea of what you should pay for a pair of headlamp bulbs Graham
  2. Costs around £300 if done by Lexus, bit cheaper at an indie garage.
  3. Mine has a slight whining noise too in 1st, has done it since I got it 5 years ago, have done nearly 50k since with no problems so don't think you need worry about it
  4. Guess the price has gone up over the last 4 years lol. Getting mine replaced next week on insurance due stone chip. Autoglass reckoned £550 for the windscreen.
  5. Glad you got it sorted - but I'd be slightly concerned as to why the fuses blew in the first place. Was it when you had the new battery fitted or sometime afterwards?
  6. Hi Moosy, welcome to LOC and congrats on the purchase Replacing the fog lights is reasonably straight forward, they can be accessed after removing part of the wheel arch lining. However it is more than likely that the fog light assemblies will have corroded - this has happened to me and others. Lexus will quote around £140 for each so you might want to try a breakers if need be.
  7. Earthing problem perhaps? I don't know where the earth straps are on the Lexus but I had a similar problem on another car and that's what it turned out to be.
  8. This all seems a little odd to me, sceptic that I am! The seller describes the plugs as platinum which they aren't although he states they are IFR6T11 and he shows an NGK box in the description. I can't help wondering why he didn't do his homework and give an accurate description and also explain that the plugs will be in Unipart boxes? Has he something to hide perhaps? For what it's worth I would be reluctant to take a chance with these plugs - they may be OK but is it worth the risk to your engine? If the seller is genuine then he should accept a return I bought my NGKs from the link in my earlier post and have had no problems with them, or go with the Densos as per Kam05's suggestion
  9. Iridium plugs are the type you need for the IS200, NGK type IFR6T11 such as these on EBAY - the plugs you received do not appear to be the correct type so I would def send them back There's a piece about identifying fake NGK plugs HERE on the NGK site
  10. Early IS200's (like mine 2000 model) also came fitted with Dunlop SP9000's- in fact my spare is a unused SP9000. I think new Lexus cars are now using Yokohama tyres becuase I had a look at a brand new GS300 back in 2006 at Lexus Leeds (06 plate) and that was fitted with Yokohama tyres. Mine's a 2003 IS200 and that too had Dunlop SP9000's fitted from new
  11. Have you tried typing " 60k service " into the search option - you will find plenty of posts that should help you
  12. I would def have the water pump changed, mine started leaking 2 years ago after only 30k miles and Lexus Hatfield charged me £560 to replace it (£103 for the pump, £27 coolant and £343 labour + vat on top - daylight robbery really but it had to be done). I was unaware that it involved removing the cambelt otherwise I'd have got them to change that too - funny they didn't suggest it either lol!! The water pump bypass pipe O rings can also leak so it's also worth getting them replaced at the same time.
  13. In your original post you say that the car seems ok for a week and then the problem reoccurs. All I can suggest is that you get the geo done again and then drive up to WIM - they are the best and should sort it for you.
  14. I suggest you take a trip around the M25 to see Tony at WIM I'm sure he will sort out the problem for you EDIT: you beat me to it Asi (just!)
  15. OK, here's my results... 50mph / rev: 2000 rpm On D 60mph / rev: 2500 rpm On D 60mph / rev: 3200 rpm On 3rd 70mph / rev: 2900 rpm On D 80mph / rev: 3200 rpm On D
  16. Here's some used car prices from What Car? online... Lexus IS Saloon 200 2.0 SE 4dr 2003 (03) 23,000 miles Dealer £6,540 Private £6,160 Part exchange £5,725 Trade £5,470 If yours is an auto you can probably add a few hundred to the price Also, try Webuyanycar.com - I tried but you have to put in your reg.
  17. Just checked mine at 60 mph and it too revs at 2500 in D mode- will get around to checking at other speeds in due course hopefully.
  18. I get similar results, 30 on gps is around 33 on the speedo and 70 on gps is 76 on speedo.
  19. Sorry but I still think you are wrong - if you look at the IS200 specs it def says stainless steel exhaust system as shown in the post by Lance above.
  20. Maybe they aren't fitting them now but it says stainless steel HERE for the IS200. So assuming it is stainless steel again I ask what's the point of spending money on a long life exhaust system?
  21. I thought Lexus cars have stainless steel exhausts fitted so aren't they long life anyway or am I missing the point?
  22. I wouldn't hold your breath, unfortunately this thread is over 5 years old and the OP hasn't posted since 2005, but you never know someone else might have an answer :winky:
  23. The 30k mile service is an intermediate one so should will probably set you back in the region of £200. Ring around a few Lexus dealers and get some quotes and pick the cheapest. TBH you will save yourself a few quid by going to a good independent and as your car is around 6 years old it won't affect the resale value to any extent if that's your concern.
  24. If that price includes the cambelt change which is due at 60k miles or 6 years, whichever comes first, then that's good for a Lexus dealer. The 60k service is one of the most expensive, had it and the cambelt done by an independent last year and it was a bit cheaper than Lexus but still came to over £900 There's a discussion HERE that might help Welcome to LOC by the way..!
