  1. Ahhh..... thats the main reasons my IS is going The IS is rapidly overtaking the saxo to become the number one boy racer car round here I didn't buy it to look like "a pimp" My one and only attempt at adding a bit more power was a HKS hiper which added about 5 bhp and cost me £180 a year extra on my insurance I got a quote last week for a brand new subaru impreza wrx and it worked out £80 a year more than my 6 year old is200 with the modded exhaust (what a joke) ← I'm starting to agree with this, besides the 3 series, the IS is fast becoming the second most modified prestige car. You hardly ever see a Merc or an Audi with mental styling, usually just AMG or whatever the Audi sport stuff is called, and this helps maintain a level of class for the car. It seems the IS only survived so long as it was relatively unknown Roll on the new IS :winky: Btw, I was told to expect a cost of around £25K for an IS250SE, which in my opinion is a bargain :) ← never drove around on the german motorways on a saturday? :winky:
  2. brettster is right. the date is the date when a car gets it's frist registration. the time a car traffels from the factory (nipon) to the customers is quite a long one. they even have a special paint shop here in avon mouth (bristol) to repair them. i know because the company where i work service their paint washers and beleave me most of the cars are not new but repaired!
  3. did a test. got out of the car and took (as passenger) the key fob with me and walked away. a friend of my who drove could still drive but got a message on the display that the fob was out of reach. later we spoke with lexus about this and they told us that once the car is started you don't need the key fob. but as soon you stop the engine it won't start again. so if they hijack your car but not the key fob (you just keep it in your pocket right) they can only drive as far the fuel will last and than it's over... but we all do have a tracker install though!
  4. sure i'm very inpressed with this new gs too! i have an is200 and find it more a fuel eating under powerd some thing even my 'old' camry v6 had a better mpg. after driving all three gs versions on a special lexus day it's very hard to drive the is200! have to save some cash now!
  5. for me? old news we have this system for years in the netherlands... ones stopped by the police and before i could say a thing he greet me by my surname. they just wanted to check the load i was carrying. we don't have those stupid paper tax disc on the windscreen etc. all is connected, insurance, tax (can paid by direct debit), mot (apk), owner details. may be big brother but i like it. the police only has to type your license plate number and they know evert thing. and if you sell your car they make new car papers live on the post office for the new owner if the seller produce the right documents etc etc. no swansea waiting time!
  6. i saw one at lexus bracknell the otherday. very surprised since i was always being told that you couldn't get one on lpg...
  7. last saturday morning from 9.30 till about 13.00 was a real lexus gs test drive day orginished by lexus uk. we did 3 cources with this new model from lexus. after an introduction about this car the idea behind it etc etc we could start to drive it. 1st. after i got the keys (well you only keep them in your pocket) i went off to a local airport with the gs 430. driving this car is really nice, very powerfull and smooth engine. lots of toys to play with like the cruis control. just put it on 60mph and it followed the car in front of me with 30mph through a village! on the airstrip we got a demostration of the safety kit in this car. all systems are working together so an emergency brake on a wet strip kept the car in one straight line! this same test we did before with a jaguar series s, the car went to the left... the gs 430 also has a changeble suspension normal / sport, also the steering changes then. the airco in the seats are funny, like you wet your self! nice sound system but i forget to take some cd's with me... and the radio isn't that good, not to blame the unit but the bbc transmissions quality! the steering wheel is funny. it feels like some one is looking over your shoulder and help you control the car... 2nd. demostration of the parking assist system this time with the gs 300 se-l with an advanced driver. parking this vehicle between two pions is very simple just have a look at the screen and as long you keep the lines correct you can park it everywhere. i did the test and it's working! hehe 3th. another self drive of the gs 300 se, no sunroof what gives me more head space! from all cars l liked this one the most. the v6 engine is fine, ok not that power of the gs 430 v8 but hey who is gone pay shell or bp, tesco? hihi. for me this car is more a drivers car and the gs 430 is more a cruiser for long distances. anyway the sensors in the front are working excellent since i had to drive through a very narrow path and it guided me perfecly through it! the satnav was another story. the lexus boys/girls (very nice girls indeed) programmed the route but we took our own rout what upset the satnav by telling us take the next left or right etc etc. anyway this lexus morning was a very nice day out and i want to thank lexus uk for this day. driving back in my 'old' is 200 se is a bit of a step back. i hope the new is will have the same inpacked as the gs did on me. and beleave me you people gone like it!
  8. ok, thanks. will check this when it's dark with the lights on. cheers, biton
  9. Hi, Just a question about the IS200 Automatic Gear Selector. On the right side by the Gear Selector it looks like if there are some small leds? They are close to the letters R and N. Is this true? With my car IS 200 SE W reg. The only lights I see indicating the Gear Selector position are on the dash board just right of the dail, Green and Red. Cheers, Biton
  10. Very true... I just feel sorry for the workers!!! It seems that the only thing we make in the UK is "redundancies". ← are those workers all british then?
  11. oi some of us lex drivers also drive white vans :D (mines blue ). ← and cargo's, mines yellow
  12. is lexus bristol to far for you? i have very good experience with them...
  13. jaguar mkii 3.4 with full leather. we drove with this car in 2 days from the north of holland to the south of spain (1974)
  14. :o 19 and driving an IS? At that age I spent all my money on women and beer, actually I still do 7 years later I'm amazed there are so many youngsters driving the IS, nearly everyone I've seen in the local area in an IS is old (except for the one's I know from here!) There is a nice GS430 kicking about though with the number plate L3XSS - I'm going to get a flyer on there one day :) ← where do you get the money from to drive a car at that age anyway...
  15. BTW I do not actively seek these idiots, they come to me, and I ***** with them no matter what colour of their skin. ←
  16. lucky me, my wife is from benin city (edo), nigeria. so i know all those stories from first hand. well she is ashamed by times what those nigeriaans do. but that said, nigeria is not an country but many tribes in one border `we' made some time ago.
  17. i agree with that yes, but still this happened all the time. cars (and not only cars even worse with computers) get updates. this is what we all want or not? what i mean with boy racers talk is that it is very simple to pi**o** a dealer but by the end of the day it is still you who is buying the car... and yes if the dealer knows about this updates you might be angry. but thats why we have a lexus owners club to try to get this kind of information first to our members...
  18. do you have a lpg vessel in your car? or do you have stand heating?
  19. What gives you the right to call the response from boy racers - Boy racers or not they still drive the same car as you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet you'd feel different if it was you who bought a car weeks before the spec changed! ← this is just what i mean... i am fully agree with Matthew_McNally his answer. you have your own responsebility of buying, no one is forsing you full stop. and yes we might drive the same car but that doesn't mean we have the same minds.
  20. you have not been conned. unlucky - yes. conned - no. did you get the car you ordered? Did you order sat nav? Do you have proof that your Lexus dealer knew that 11 weeks later the IS would be offered with nav as standard? Do you expect the dealer to advise you to wait in case a better spec comes out? Why didn't you wait until November 05 when the new model IS comes out? Why didn't you wait until <whenever> when the IS350 comes out? Or do you feel the Lexus dealer has conned you by selling you the car you ordered when he knew full well a new model would be out in 8 months? Not havng a fo at you mate - must be a bit of a bummer. but - be realistic - you were not conned ← finally some quality response since some of the answers here are from little boy racers.
