  1. Porsches do have a strong appetite for rear tyres.I don't remember any lasting over 10,000 miles.I found a fair number got punctured before they got worn...back to the correlation of purchase price and running cost..only tyres twice normal width are twice as likely to get punctured. Still,I had always wanted one,so saved up and specified it to my exact choice of options.I thought Porsche were very generous when they didn't charge me any extra for deleting the rear badging.......
  2. Complete lies and nonsense.Large, National housebuilders will do and say anything to maximise their profits.
  3. The thing to remember with this level of car is that commensurate with the cost\value ,the running costs increase in proportion to the purchase cost. Having brought and run a Porsche for 7 years,I can only say a Lexus is much more "comfortable" to own.It isn't as fast, doesn't handle as well, and doesn't sound as good, but at least I can sleep at night.
  4. Not owned one directly but my brother in law and cousin have both owned Ferraris, but only for a short time and were fairly quickly offloaded. They both had owned (and subsequently continued to own ) multiple high end marques. Both warned me about high running costs, commensurate with the purchase price of the likes of Porsche,Aston Martin etc. Modern/recent Ferraris all come with service package included in the purchase price. That should give some short term costing certainty.
  5. I would suspect this is probably a "staged" sign, partly redacted for those of a delicate nature.
  6. I laughed so much, the tears nearly ran down my trouser legs.
  7. I(and a few others here)have viofo cameras which are both excellent quality and reasonably priced.Make sure you get front and rear coverage. Fitting...either an auto electrician,or as I did ,hardwire it in yourself. As Frank Spencer was modelled on me...if I managed it... anybody could.
  8. ∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆ Ditto on trickle charger, otherwise perfect.
  9. The db noise rating is taken externally as the subject car drives past.As electric milk floats, sorry ,cars tend to be quieter than proper cars, perhaps it's a" false" reading. They only become noisier as they burn and explode.
  10. Does anybody think drink might have been involved...?
  11. Initially I had a stack of CDs,but very soon came across the Android auto wireless dongle which connects instantly as I start the car. Sound quality with this and Mark Levinson is superb(although at high volume the rear view mirror vibrates in tune to the music). I use the Musicolet app to store/shuffle and generally organise about 1500 tracks. It is free, simple to use and advert/junk mail free.
  12. I'm surprised that 2020 models of the LC don't have AA/CPlay.My early 2020 RC has it and I think even some very late 2019 facelift models have it.
  13. I think the boot release system operates electronically to undo the catch and then a concealed metal spring actually opens the boot lid.It sounds like a poor electrical contact for the release mechanism..,.I've not experienced any problems with mine.
  14. Try Elite registrations. They are good to deal with and either sell on commission or buy outright.
  15. I would at least give them a ring to see what they say.And yes,it would drive you nuts.
  16. It might be a pinhole or very small gap in the new screen sealant.I used to get similar in my MX5 where the folding roof rubbers must have contracted in cold wet weather...like we have at the moment.
  17. Now that is how it should be done. How refreshing to hear of good service. We are all too quick to criticise and complain (often with good reason). Good service should be applauded.
  18. As Wharfhouse above ....Jemca Bracknell did a superb job, especially matching and blending the Sonic Red paint. Also agree on claims management comment.Do choose ideally Lexus/Toyota bodyshop so the Hybrid system is checked,or get a standalone Hybrid healthcheck paid for by Insurers, just in case.
  19. In theory, your insurers won't be paying,as has been confirmed further down the thread. If I was in your shoes,I would hand it over to a claims management firm..and let their pet vultures sort it out but INSIST on a Lexus or approved bodyshop.
  20. Similar happened to me not long after I bought mine. What looked like minor damage ended up at £5000 plus and more besides when a hire car was provided when in for repair.Be aware of Parts shortages delaying things. You must use a Lexus bodyshop as only they will be able to test the hybrid system hasn't been damaged.
  21. Try Carnoisseur..very knowledgeable and helpful.I ordered mine mid afternoon and it arrived 8.30 next morning.Speak to Patrick if you can.
  22. I'm sure that's where most of them live, apart from the ladies local to me who seem to all have the "minus R" edition.(That is the on without an R on the gear lever).
  23. I think the lightbar in the middle is an accessory.
  24. For the avoidance of doubt,I assume you are referring to a doctor at the camp.
