  1. 82.5 mpg ....... that's more economical than walking!!! (for walking it should be mppl (miles per pint of lager) rather than mpg):lol::P
  2. ... 29, hit the big 30 later in the year tho' :regan::(
  3. I have a mix of A-road and dual carriageway driving - 16 miles each way to work. Then have to get into the city centre (slow). Overall, find about 350 from a tank urban type, 400 ish on m-way as well.
  4. Would like to know how everyone does on the mpg front - I've averaged 27.3 over the last 7,500 miles - not too bad I thought, considering I don't drive it like an old man  How does that stack up with other IS200's?
  5. Clare - it's okay to admit these things ... like they say, it's better out of your system than in!!! My wife very nearly bought a Beemer Compact in March ... and I was gonna let her do it too ( more fool me!) - but in the end she went for a Golf GTI c/w leather recaros ... and now she's so glad she did (and so am I)
  6. being so far north - I vote for making it snow weeks :D
  7. Alcoholic stuff = A really nice bottle of red like Wolfblaes, whisky (Talisker, yum, yum) or any lager Claire ..... I'm impressed, a nice Talisker is a mighty fine way to round off a meal. You must be the first woman I've met that actually LIKES whisky :wow: What else have you got in your cabinet? I've got a cheeky Lagavulin (16yo) and a Strathisla (12yo) - for those uneducated, Strathisla is the malt that is used to make Chivas Regal Now, after all that what do i drink? Alcoholic .... Bud, Any Ozz Chardonnay Non-alcoholic .... good ole H2O
  8. The Blues Brothers ..... now there is a classic film  "Fix the cigarette lighter ......" ..... took me a couple of times watching to get that gag .. :D
  9. Trev, I use mine for holding the warning triangle and an umbrella (the two at the back) and the one at the side for my firstaid kit .. Boring .... but it works!!
  10. If they have Claire then the grim reaper awaits them on the dark side .. :flaming::flaming::flaming: The guy in the next office to me posts on Scooby Net - and you'll all be pleased to know that Scooby Netters have the same opinion as we do about that blue and white checked german badge ....
  11. I thought that the second "blob" on the dashboard was for detector for the remote ..... some cars have them on the rear view mirrors instead of on the dash. The dash lights have certainly never come on themselves for me either ... Anyway, what does the alarm actually sound like ???? :?::?::?::?: I've had mine for ages and never heard it - so I wouldn't recognise it going off in a car park For the record (and along previous threads) - my April 01 model double locks with one click, and deactivates the interior sensors on the second click (with 5 hazard flashes)
  12. There are some pretty tasty looking cars around here ..... but just what is it that you guys love about your individual vehicles??? This thought occurred to me as I was driving home from the gym last night, roof open, shades on, sun shining, high tempo music blasting out ..... I was trully at one with my vehicle!!
  13. If u ever find yourself in Aberdeen Clare, I'll wave to u .... :D:D:D:D
  14. The first half (training) is by far the best ... some of the greatest lines ever from the Drill Instructor!
  15. Hi Mojo, Well, for a start, I couldn't move it for 10 days over crimbo & new year, despite digging it out, putting weight in the boot, snow button in etc .... it just wouldn't move any more than 6 feet! Had a couple of close calls when it snowed suddenly - maybe an inch of snow/slush on the road, and started to lose all grip, sideways down the dual carriageway - that was fun! Generally, if you live in an area where there is a lot of snow in the winter (and I mean measured in feet not millimetres) - park up the Lex, and take the bus!!!!!! :eyes:
  16. 1. Top Gun 2. Braveheart (well, I am a Jock!) 3. Convoy 4. The Great Escape 5. The Italian Job 6. Duel 7. Full Metal Jacket 8. Quadrophennia 9. Shawshank Redemption 10. Sleepers Bit of a mixed bag there it seems ......
  17. Happened again this morning, even more annoying!! Old buffer in front in his 51 reg 320d (silver, why are they always silver) - wouldnt let me past, eventually took him at 90, then a mile down the road, he starts to try and undertake me .. arrived at the roundabout together but I got baulked, he went up the inside, and immediately pulled straight back out in front of me and slowed down ..... Why????? The old air was blue this morning, thats for sure
  18. Hi Mojo, welcome to the club. W.r.t the "weather button" ..... I strongly urge you NEVER to switch it on - as believe me, it does seem to make it snow ...... I am speaking from painful experience gained last winter ... and am in the process of starting my"Indian Summer/Winter Dance" so it doesn't snow again this year :flaming::flaming::flaming:

    Tyre Dressing

Thanks for the tips guys, where can I pick these products up - Halfords?
  20. tonb

    Tyre Dressing

Yes, use the autoglym spray (am very particular about not getting it too close to the alloys, and also letting it dry well before moving the car)
  21. I (like most of my fellow Lexees) like to dress the tyres after having cleaned the alloys - just to finish the job! But I am finding that once I have dressed them (using Autoglym) the front alloys seem to hold brake dust even more than usual, and within a couple of days are pretty filthy again - they get filthier a lot quicker this way than without tyre dressing. Anybody any ideas on how to combat this, or other tyre dressing products to use? It looks so good having the spotless alloys and nice shiny black boots - but it's hard work!!! :?::?::?:
  22. Hi David, Welcome to the club ... I agree with everything thats been said, the darker colours are harder to keep clean, but the alloys ..... oh, the alloys ..:cool: When they are clean (and it does take a while to get them spotless) - they are what sets the car apart from everything else ... with a dark colour you get a great contract. I have lost count of the number of times that the alloys have been admired by both pedestrians and fellow motorists .. Go for the SE if you can - you won't regret it (and the seats are fine and warm in the winter!!!) Enjoy.
  23. You are right Lexicon, I have to say that you get fools in every make of car, but I have NEVER been raced/cut-up/trashed by another Lexus .... it's more of a "respect" thing  My mate who has a WRX STI says the same about Scooby drivers ..... mutual respect, there's a lot to be said for "old fashioned values" these days
  24. Agree with everything thats been said, folks using their f/fogs in non foggy weather is such a pain in the neck! Always is the ones that want to race you as well ...... why is that :?: BTW - I would agree with using front fogs at night on dark lanes etc, I had a bad experience a few years ago where I ruined an alloy by hitting a pretty "invisible" pothole on a country lane at night (at some speed as well) .... I find now that the f/fogs give a better visibility on the road surface due to their flatter beam (but always switch them off when someone else comes the other way!)
  25. Yes, guys with Ickle cars want to be important don't they? You know how it is when you are coming home from a hard day at the office, and all you want to do is enjoy your Lexus, well, last nite I was doing just that - and sprinting up my inside came a Reg Vardy salesman in a Rover 45 ..... he must have been pushing a ton - pedalling like mad, well, I played with him for a while, then he was determined to get past, so I eventually let him go up the inside ..... Hey, I aint gonna lose my licence for some little Rover 45 and a balding salesman
