  1. tee hee, wonder how many people got the dreaded "dear john" phonecall this morning ..... "Good morning sir, you'll be pleased to know that we have located your car .... 30 miles off the Kent Coast :arrrggg-matey: .... it might be a little damp (and a bit smelly) - but it's coming with a lifetime supply of cod " Poor old Bee Emm Doubleyou drivers .... have to go and buy a real car now ..
  2. General Lee ...... how I tried to persuade my Dad to get a horn that played Dixie!!! (luckily he stood his ground!) The 3 mini's in the Italian Job - still would like a 69 Cooper S - but hard to find good ones now. What about Herbie .... :hocus-pokus:
  3. Congrats Man .... Make sure and wrap him up warm in the Blue Toon!! :P
  4. Yuk ..... clunk, click every trip!!! Amazing if they survived
  5. Ferrari Dino ... Escort Cosworth TVR Griffith 500
  6. ....... smell of burning, I often get that after I've been "nipping" on a bit - I just guessed that it's a general "hot car" smell, - the amount of torque/power being shoved through the back wheels - the T/C struggling to stop you fishtailing etc, never really given it a second thought! I generally am quite happy to get the "hot car" smell after a good burn out .... man and machine in perfect harmony!!!! B)
  7. Thanks guys, I have checked the tool kit and it is secure ;) And as for loose change ... I'm a Scotsman, we never have loose change!!! short arms and long pockets!!! I think the noise is maybe a heatshield - that's as far as I have narrowed it down, but I'll get them to look at it when it goes in soon
  8. Seem to have developed a rattle from the rear underside .... it's either a loose exhaust mount, heat shield or baffle plate ... Anynody else had this problem? Everytime I shut the boot or go over a bumpy surface it occurs ... car is due 30k service soon anyway, so will get them to have a look at it
  9. cheers guys - that is the one I was looking for :P The squeak is coming from the base of bracket - goes away when you hold it! (but thats a bit difficult when u are driving - and evern more tricky when there is a passenger using the belt at the time!!! ) I'll try some grease and see how we get on
  10. I know it's in here somewhere ....... :duh: Can one of you fine people post me the link to the thread about dealing with a squeaking seatbelt
  11. Jenners - how are you finding your sp9000's? As mine is a company car, I have to go with the leasing companies decision, and they decided that they would not pay for 9000's and gave me 2000's instead - which are not rotational ... and they are rubbish!!! The back end is really light once they were fitted - have played about with the pressures a bit to get some stability Might try and hold out for some 9000's next time, or some Pilot's B)
  12. Mr Benn BOD (I bet we can all whistle that tune) Rhubarb & Custard ..... :duh:
  13. Take Hart (with Morph of course) Littlest Hobo .... Grange Hill Why don't you? .......... (just switch off the television set and go and do something less boring instead) .... LIKE DRIVE A LEXUS :D:D:D
  14. Yeah, I seem to remember having the entire contents of my local Halfords in my boot when I took the car to Germany/Belgium & Holland last year ...... Damn those pesky warning triangle salesmen ..
  15. Didn't know that the screen heater came on with the rear-screen heater ..... i was told by my dealer that the elements on the windscreen are triggered by the outside temperature (ie, if it reads below 3 celcius on your guage - they come on) Anyway, living up here and having the car through last winter, i can confirm that the elements work - very quickly
  16. Chocolate instead of champagne, flowers and expensive stones?? Wow, why aren't there more like you?:lol:
  17. Hands up who played cops and robbers on their bike .... and made lots of motorbike and tyre screaching noises! And who also made up their own version of "The Red Hand Gang" ....... having secret meetings in the garden shed! I can honestly say that I never had leg warmers though!!! (but I did want to live forever ..) :bounce:
  18. Excellent Clare, but what about when: The only way to get into your dads car was by sliding across the bonnet then climbing in through the window. You wanted a horn on the car that played Dixie. You had a grifter with the twist 3 speed geers, and if you were really cool you also had a yellow and black siren on the front (that played 3 tunes I seem to remember). You had a 5-4-3-2-1 in your tuckbox. Upgrading your ZX81 to a 16K RAM was space age stuff! Using "floppy disks" on the BBC B COmputers at School - except there was nothing floppy about them - you could sink battleships with them. Taking a game into school on the last day of term ....... Roll on 30 .... sigh :eyes:
  19. i picked up the basics (greetings, numbers etc) fairly quickly .... especially working in Belem where there was only 1 guy on site who spoke some english! My pointing in Portugese was pretty good I have to say .. :bounce::bounce: I think if you can speak Spanish, or "Spangelese" then you are fine! Happy memories first thing on a thursday morning. Saude' ... :P
  20. Bom Dia Vince, Desculpe, eu somente falar pocinho portugese (and badly at that!!!)
  21. Hi Vince, Never got to Florianopolis (or Floripa as I think they call it there) but heard a lot about it from my Brasilian colleagues! Hats off to you for having a future wife from there, you're a lucky guy!;););) Enjoy a nice cold Brahma/Antartica for me next time you are back! :D Or of course ... a Caiparinha :cool:
  22. Great pic Vince ... where was the hotel, in Rio? I spent 4 months working in Brasil (in Rio and up on the Amazon) and it was just fantastic. I used to go to work and pinch myself that I was being PAID to work there - it was my vision of paradise! Sigh .... the memories :(
  23. Interesting about them being exclusive .... seems to be loads of them in Aberdeen!! :( I'm with Claire on the exclusivity thing and Sapphire Blue :flaming:
  24. think i'll still stick with the is200 .... poor economy or not!
  25. Was it the wheel balance then? Looked to me like you might have shed a weight (since they are stick on weights on the inside of the alloys) - come off very easily
