  1. Thanks for that chipsawayman, quite informative. My main gripe is at the start of this thread, Lexus claim the paint is Anti-Chip. Nonsense of course. bs
  2. Good point Bobski. You would then paint over it though, thus protecting it again, perhaps ? bs
  3. Welcome to the club mate ! See ya around. bs
  4. How much was the GAP insurance. Can you only get it when you order your car ? bs
  5. Thinking about the wind scratching it, scratches it bs
  6. Very nice mate ! At the risk of sounding really stoopid :duh: , what is GAP insurance ? It's okay I did a search and found it. bs
  7. Because they cannot filter everything, there are new viruses coming out all the time, even if you update Norton regularly something could get through. Doesn't say that on the box though. Some viruses stop you from running Anti-virus software too. Don't really know the answer, last year I had to do the dreaded hard drive wipe and full software reload. There are plenty of computer minded people on the forums though, I'm sure they will sort you out. Good Luck ........... bs
  8. I agree. I started this particular thread, just to gauge an idea of the scale of the problem. In small terms of course, 14 negative opinions out of 15 indicates a wider overall problem with the Lexus paint process. I would like, if at all possible, more members to reply on this thread. We all know that there are more than 14 people out there who are unhappy with their cars paintwork. I am currently consulting Lexus UK about their ludicrous paint claims on their website, they are speaking to TME in Brussels before they get back to me. I am seriously considering contacting Which? personal service to see how I myself stand legally, of course this will also apply to all of you too. I have downloaded a copy of the Anti-chip paint website too, incase they wipe it off, just in case. What do we all want from Lexus ? Some answers will do for starters, only a week to wait till they get back to me, so they say. We have a voice, why don't we use it ? bs
  9. Has anybody heard about a mythical IS430 ? Are Lexus building it next week ? :duh: <_< Cheers ...... bs
  10. Hi all, A very technical critisism TonyGoose, do you have a technical background. I would not mind using that argument the next time I speak to Lexus UK. You can keep up to date with my progress on this link : http://lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.p...ST&f=31&t=3998& As I thought so far, a pretty negative opinion of the Lexus paint job. Keep them coming though, the more the merrier. Ta ............ bs
  11. Hi all, Jane from Customer Services phoned me Monday morning, to say that they have not forgotten my enquiries. They are waiting on an answer from Brussels (TME or something), this may take up to two weeks though. I'm quite impressed that they phoned actually, at least I know they are listening. They might even care, let's wait and see. Cheers .................... bs
  12. Only spent time with the new head unit, so I can't compare. I have had quite a few cars though. I wouldn't class the IS stereo as 'The Best', but as far as stock stereo's go I think it is more than adequate. Like I said though, I have never heard the old head unit, so I will reserve my judgement. bs
  13. I'm with djanderso on this one. I'm quite impressed. Still you could have a faulty head unit or a wiring fault. Duff speaker perhaps ? Maybe I am just deaf Eh ? Flat feet. bs
  14. Don't know for sure but I would say that it's the deadlock motor operating again, but as they are locked it just makes a noise. I could very easily be wrong though. Cheers ........... bs
  15. I am, perhaps, beginning to agree. I got my car back this week after having 5 new alloys, 4 new brake callipers, 2 new brake discs (all corrosion). Cold start ECU mod, New L/H headlamp (condensation) and a new steering wheel housing. Admirably Lexus Edinburgh changed them with no questions asked, which is a big plus point for Lexus. However it is quite disturbing that all that needed to be done in the first place. The level of customer service I have received from Edinburgh, and the fact that I love the car, still gives me faith in Lexus. I am very disturbed by the paint claims though, as that is just utter rubbish. Which is why I want to find out what it is all about, so that I can carry on having faith in a manufacturer who can only be described as one of the market leaders in customer care. Cheers ............. bs
  16. I'll be Mum. I am not very satisfied with any of the paints qualities at all. I think it is brittle and too thin. As for Anti-Chip, what a joke. A particularly un-funny joke aswell. :( My wife owns a Ford Escort and the paint is far more durable, and she does a lot more miles than I do. I have owned Renault, Peugeot and Honda prior to this car, and the Lexus paint comes in last in my opinion. On a plus note, the colour is fantastic ! One plus note for the paint on a £27,000 car is not right. Not when the paint is apparently Anti-Chip anyway. Well, I hope you all answer and I'll let you know what Lexus UK have to say. Thanks ..........bs
  17. Hi, I would like all the LOC Lexus vehicle owners to answer me a few questions. Any answers, whether positive, negative or indifferent will do. I intend to contact Lexus customer services again about their rather fantastic Anti-Chip paint claims <_< (see thread below). Any feedback will assist me with my enquiries. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/sho.../ST/f/31/t/3998 The questions about the paint on your vehicle are: 1. Are you satisfied with the finish, quality and durability? 2. Are you satisfied with its Anti-Chip properties? 3. How does it compare to other makes of vehicle you own, or have owned before? Thanks for any answers, or just thanks for reading. Cheers ...................... bs
  18. What a f*****g t**t !! I am sickened by the disrespect people have for other peoples property. I hope you have better luck after your respray. bs
  19. Spoke to Jane, at Lexus customer service today. No one there even new about the claims on the website. She could not clarify the claim and what it meant, neither could a representative from the products department. They are contacting Lexus Europe in Brussels to find out. Then they will get back in touch with me. Also spoke to John at Lexus Edinburgh service department, he had never heard of it either and according to him, neither have the salesmen. Top secret this magic paint you know !! So I'll keep you posted. Cheers ................. bs
  20. Just got my car back today. New wheels and calipers all round. New rear brake discs too. All because of corrosion. No hassle from Lexus Edinburgh at all, they were great. If it happens again, I will take it back again. Cheers ............. bs
  21. Personally, I think that Steve Coogan got it slightly wrong. The irony being that most sad, try hard characters drive a BMW 3 series, or a C- Class Merc. The "Oh, look at me in my expensive car" type. Lexus is a less well known brand, bought more by the informed motorist/ enthusiast, it's less trendy and hip. More thought has perhaps gone into the decision to buy. 90 % of the guys at work say they like my car, some do mention the Partridge thing, but only for a quick laugh. I think the extra publicity will be positive. As for Coogan's assasination of the Probe, it was a 'Ford', and cack. It was always going to fail. These are my honest thoughts, slightly biased perhaps. However I think most motor enthusiasts would agree with some of the points I have made. Cheers .................. bs
  22. Shell out the extra for a 300. Of course I like the blue, but I agree with the guy who said, check them out yourself first. I test drove a red 200 and it just did not look the same as the pictures. Was in the showroom Saturday, and black look's good. When its clean !! Cheers ................ bs
  23. This is what I intend to 'TRY' to find out. I would describe the IS paint as brittle and, when you see a chip down to the bare metal, the finish is extremely thin. Certainly not what it claims to be on the website. I shall try to contact them again, does anybody have the phone number for Lexus UK ? bs
