  1. Hi, Any thoughts on which is the best kit to style my IS 300 with ? I have priced up the skirts and sports grille, but I know you can get the styling kit front bumper and grille assembly. Also TRD do a kit, would that invalidate my warranty at all ? I would welcome anybodys thoughts and suggestions. Does the front skirt added to the standard bumper look any good ? Cheers .......... bs :P
  2. Drove down to Lexus Edinburgh today. Spoke to John Donaldson, the service advisor. He was unsure, and wants the regional inspector to have a look, next time he is visiting the dealership. Another 2 hour round trip then, and when, they couldn't say. So a bit of a wasted journey today. Well better luck next time. :sniff: I did price up the sports grille and F/R and side skirts though. I'll start saving. :D Cheers ...... bs :P
  3. I'm 32 with 3 points. I paid £470 with Esure for my brand new IS 300. bs :P
  4. What's left - household insurance? Do you think Direct Line would pay up in that case ? bs:P
  5. An interesting, but very sad story all round. I do however think there is one major point not to be missed in this case. Don't drink and drive. bs :P And don't answer the phone in the middle of the night if it is from the Police !
  6. About the 'someone to sue' point: True. You hit the nail on the head there. The guy is going to wind up in jail or owing millions of dollars that he can't pay. bs :P
  7. I never said he was guilty, I just thought that giving him his keys back was a pretty dumb thing to do ! The guy is obviously stupid, but you can't send people to jail for stupidity. The justice system and the family of the deceased want a scapegoat, by the sounds of it. I would not want to be in his shoes. They will not let him rest. bs :P p.s. I was blaming the police really !
  8. The police screwed up big I think, but why did Powell give his mate his keys back ? Would you ? Do the UK police impound the car, I think they do. bs :P
  9. It has caused indentations and stretching in the leather. Here is the email Recaro sent back to me : Dear Mr Sullivan, I haven't had this complaint before and had to get an answer for you - the reply is as follows. All child seats will result in pressure being applied to the seat cover materials where the child seat and the seat cover are in contact. This is unavoidable if you use any child seat. The RECARO start has been designed to minimise potential damage by having a broad base without any small pressure points - and because of this it is also one of the best seats on the market from a 'damage limitation' aspect. If the leather in the car has deteriorated so rapidly it will either be faulty leather or because the leather type (an annolin) is unsuitable for use with a child seat. Normal automotive leather is stretched and processed (dyed, surface painted and lacquered for colour/UV fastness and durability) all of which makes it feel hard, it is therefore drummed (tumble dried) to make softer again. Too much drumming will cause the leather to break down more quickly which could result in the problem. If the leather is an annolin, this is a dyed product only (no painting or lacquer), annolins appear and feel good but the durability for both wear and colour fastness is a major offset. In either circumstance you should claim under warranty for a new seat cover which can be easily fitted at the dealership or appointed trimmers. One note of caution though - make sure the dealership orders a Lexus spare-part cover and not a trimmers copy - which will never match properly. I hope you find this information useful. Regards, Sue Mikulsky RECARO UK Ltd Very informative indeed !! Cheers ........ bs:P
  10. Argh ! My son's Recaro kiddies seat has damaged the leather on the passenger side of the back seat. I sent an email to Recaro UK, who replied, saying "It can't be our seat so it must be the leather, claim off your warranty". :o I forwarded their email to Lexus Edinburgh, the service manager phoned me and asked me to take the car in for them to have a look. I'm taking it in Saturday morning. Has anybody else had problems with their leather interior ? :?: For anybody who is interested, I'll keep you informed. Cheers, bs :P
  11. She's a beauty mate. A few questions if you don't mind me asking: 1. How much ? 2. How old is your car ? Cheers bs :P
  12. It is certainly nice, whatever it is. I know from my old Accord Type R that Honda, interior, quality is a bit shabby though. However a dealer told me that they are raising the standard, starting with the new Accord. Trying to challenge Lexus, BMW, Merc etc. One day, you never know !! cheers ....... bs :P
  13. I like the cut of your chip, never thought of it like that. I think I shall be following your example. Baa ! bs:P
  14. I detect a lot of hostility toward the thingy. I'll give it a miss then. Cheers. bs:P
  15. Has anybody tried that Eco Tek clean burn thingy yet ? (CB-26P) bs:P
  16. I'm in the Forces. RAF Airframe Tecnician. I work First Line on the Tornado F3. I start training to work on the Eurofighter Typhoon (EFA) soon though. Cheers, bs :P
  17. Good choice of car mate. I've been reading the forum for a few months now. The 200 versus 300 debate has reared it's head from time to time. Some people can't justify the extra cost, and have a pop at the car, others admit that they might have one next, and of course for the odd one or two it just isn't their cup of tea. Most people posting seem quite genuine and constructive in their arguments though, and I agree that there should be a manual option. I would go for the semi auto version everytime though. I originally test drove a 200, but the performance just wasn't there after owning a CRX Vtec, GTI-6 and then an Accord Type R. So I drove the 300, which I had never heard of, and that was it. I wanted a bit of luxury, and poise, along with a bit of power, but I didn't want to buy anything too common like a BMW or a Merc. I never even thought about buying an automatic before, but now I think auto is the way forward, I'm not sure if I fancy having a manual again now. Not in a car like a Lexus anyway. Lexus is the way forward and the IS is a great car, no matter what the engine size, trim level or price. It is down to what the individual want's at the end of the day. So, again, congratulations on choosing Lexus. Enjoy. It's the feeling inside !! Cheers, bs :P p.s. Hello !:D:smilegrin::D
  18. A Scottish meet sounds great. I am an Englishman living in Fife. If it was on the right day, I wouldn't mind travelling , so the venue is not a problem really. Cheers, bs.:P
  19. Thank's guys. I got one from Warr Computer consultants, it wasn't too good though. I'll see what these are like. Tempted to get a T68 after seeing Matthew's logo though !! Cheers, bigsul.:o
  20. Great logos, but I only have a Nokia 8210. Thanks anyway though. So anybody with the Nokia logos out there, feel free to be as generous as Matthew. Cheers. :P
  21. The Topgear survey 2002 is just proving what I, and most of the members of this Club have known for some time. There can be only one. After all ....... Its the feeling inside ... that counts. It does feel good when you are proved right. :D
  22. I have seen a thread in the past, about mobile phone logos. Are they still available ? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
