  1. My brakes clunk at car park speeds. It's actually the compression ratio of the engine that would require the higher octane fuel. I was recommended super at least once every three tankfuls - but it tends to be more economical on the more expensive stuff and it just about balances out so I use super whenever I can.
  2. November, eh? Might just have to hold over my mods budget for this year....
  3. It's not that different to the current IS - still that's no bad thing... now when's it due?
  4. oooh you're gonna be popular
  5. Ford are denying all knowledge - although it sounds like when the agency made the first one they actually made 4, 2 were accepted and 2 rejected, and I'm guessing this is one of the rejected ones. It's a sackable offence within the company to distribute the movie!
  6. err... no, you didn't - did you look at the link?
  7. Hang about, this is the new GS Lexus' press release It looks to me like the low angle shot is the new LS.
  8. erm.... you sure about that? EVERY SINGLE Lexus produced to date is a rebadged Toyota. Don't be such a snob or go and get something German
  9. process would run something along the lines of: find car in Japan, buy it, get someone to check (reverse order if you can!) get the car de-registered and on to a ship to the uk, then get the car undersealed, preferably de-retricted, a fog light added if needed, the tyres changed, and the speedo converted, send for an SVA test, hope it passes, send resulting docs to DVLA to get a V5 & then register it in your name. The SVA has just got harder due to needing a model report (how car behaves in a collision) and you will have to rent one. The main reason for an Altezza having problems in the SVA test is emissions. It might be easier (an quicker) if you can source one over here where all of this has already been done.
  10. Mpg? I get 30 - that is 380 miles from 56 litres. I also get a big grin when I put my foot down :D
  11. I'm still in the office...
  12. Anybody got any comments on Total, Elf or Fina super? - I can't understand the comment in the thread that it has a higher calorific value but a lower octane rating than Optimax.
  13. Don't forget the turn in is better in the Altezza than the IS200 due to less mass under the bonnet (better tyre wear, too) so the steering is less assisted and has better feel
  14. Are you hinting you want to have a drive? :P
  15. This is a bit of an eye opener, but there is a LOT to read.... Octane Boost thread
  16. It doesn't get any more severe - almost all RS200s do it... there have been a few other posts about this....
  17. Sorry you've had no reply, but tell me how to measure it and I'll let you know what mine runs at...
  18. I think most in dash changers struggle 'cos there's not a lot of room to play with - I've heard the Visteon (read Ford/Jaguar) changers are similarly blighted. Still a good thump and everything is fine for another couple of months
  19. Mine is a 6 speed manual.....
  20. There are 2 types of Altezza in 3 trim levels - the AS200 and the RS200 in base, Z and L editions. The AS200 is exported to the rest of the world as the Lexus IS200, albeit with a higher spec still. The RS200 is the fastest naturally aspirated 2 litre saloon made to date and only the Honda S2000 has a higher specific output from a 2 litre engine. As all the IS owners on here will tell you the car handles pretty well, but the magazines would have you believe the 3 series handles better...
  21. Mine's always done it, and a lot of the other owners on here have said the same thing. I'm told that the engine is prone to vibration in the MR2 - not as bad, granted... if you find a solution, let me know!
  22. I think the speedo conversion is just a software change - and the fact that as you're going faster the difference gets smaller doesn't sound like the maths is wrong. Surprised at the brakes - these cars have the best oem brakes short of a porsche.
  23. How tall are you? I can see most of the bonnet, and can have a very good guess where the back is - from where I sit it is 1 cm below the bottom of the rear window, but if you want to be sure you just need a spoiler...Sounds to me like you need to try one. They are generally very similar to the IS. The spring rate is different although I've yet to put my finger on how, the trim is either cloth or leather, and the steering feels 'better' as there is less weight over the front of the car.
