  1. Good Man ! Lockdown has been well used. I'd never heard of Lexington Lab Band and they have some fabulous stuff on Tube. Not so rocky but still amazing are " The Foxes and Fossils ". Tons of real talent and such nice people. I can't get enough of them. Alan
  2. It was a pi$$ take . Just seeing if there were any fans of Tommy by the WHO amongst us.
  3. I think this was the last time we heard from Chris. I sent him a personal message but he never replied. He did an amazing amount of work to his RX and some fantastically detailed posts. Worth checking him out. There have been others like him but he was up there with the best. I hope he's OK. Alan
  4. Happy Christmas to all my learned friends on this forum. Got a feeling '21 is gonna be a good year ...... Alan
  5. Gov. website says it is BLUE. Taxed and MoT . Looks silver to me. When I sold my 2005 RX the rear brake backing plates were very badly rusted through. Worth having a look at those.
  6. Just been out for essential shopping and glad to report that I still have wiper blades that work ! They seem quieter ( unless I'm imagining it ) and no problems with any smearing on the windscreen. My blades were only just over a year old but had accumulated a lot of crud that the WD40 removed. I'll use it again ( now I know how to get at the blades ) and report back if anything goes wrong. Alan
  7. No need for any scoring. There was never any competition. Glad of all the advice received. Just hope I haven't dissolved my blades ! Alan
  8. When you're as daft as me you need all the help you can get! I've now found this information in the 4RX owners manual on page 89 under "driving". Who'd have thought it eh ? Thanks everybody Alan
  9. Oh dear ! Was so excited to get the blades up I got the WD out before seeing your reply. Much filth came off but maybe that was the blade material. Won't know till I take her out.
  10. Yeeeeeh !! Wipers spring upright . Thanks so much Colin. I don't think this is in the manual so how did you get to know this ?
  11. Manual for the 4RX finishes at page 245. The only mention I could find about wipers was the de-icer ( if equipped).
  12. Duh !! never even thought to look there ! I'll try Colin's trick ( if I can tear myself away from this computer) and report back. I also wasn't convinced it (WD40) would work but will let you know if it does. Alan
  13. I've just seen one of those videos on You Tube about how brilliant WD 40 is at degreasing windscreen wiper blades. As I'm not very busy at the moment I thought I'd give this a go. However I've just discovered that I can't swing the wiper arms up as the bonnet gets in the way ( 4thgenRX). I lifted the bonnet but still no go. I then tried pressing the retainer button to remove the whole blade assembly but couldn't budge it. If I turn the ignition off when the blade is upright then the wiper arm just returns to its rest position. Duh !! What am I missing here ? Alan
  14. Really sorry to hear what happened but sounds like you're getting everything sorted. A rear facing dash cam would have been revealing as to what the driver was doing. I did a bit of rear panel and bumper damage to my 05 RX a few years back. I thought it was all fixed fine but then started noticing a bit of wet in the rear foot well carpet, When I got all the trim etc. off that lines the boot it was soaking. I'm sure a Lexus approved repairer will do a proper job as opposed to my back street guy. Be worth a bit of investigation after a heavy downpour or a hose to make sure all is as it should be. Best of luck and hope you get her back soon.
  15. When I asked them they said they could order them in. That was last year.
  16. We never got to know how this all panned out. Never heard from John again. It must have all been awful. John experienced "Amazing " alright !
  17. Given all that you've tried are you absolutely sure that the noise is coming from the blades on the glass ? Is it possible for there to be a squeak in the linkages somewhere ?
  18. Well done Herbie. That's an amazing job. Just hope you never have to use it ! I seem to remember being told that there was a jump start terminal under the bonnet of the 4th series. Does anyone know if that's true ? Alan
  19. If emissions aren't tested on hybrids then it sounds to me that we'd all be better off getting the cats cut off ourselves and replaced with exhaust pipe. They could be stored in our garages ( or on the mantelpiece ) and sold with the car when the time comes. Has anyone done a comparison test to see how much effect they have on overall emissions ? I can't imagine how horrible it must be to start your Lexus up and find you are now driving a tractor. Alan
  20. Terrible news Barry. When I sold my 2005 SEL the air suspension had lasted for over 13 years without a single issue. Is there any point in writing to Lexus UK ? Surely for the struts to need replacing at this millage means they were not fit for purpose in the first place. It would be quite reasonable to have expected them to last considerably longer. Some of our more legally minded members may be able to advise further. Alan
  21. Good to be reminded of Chris Kaye. He was a genius ! Wonder what he's up to now ? Alan
  22. Too right ! I checked how easy it would be to hit that bank of switches. Les, I hope your knee is better than my finger. Janet caught her finger in the front driver door as she closed it last December. I did exactly the same in May. New fingernail about half way grown so far. Luckily for Jan her pain was nowhere near as severe as mine ! Well done Cheltenham. I'm there on Thursday for service number 1. Alan
  23. Yes, nice and easy. Wait till you get a 4th gen. RX. Not so easy then. I still get it wrong trying to find where it's hidden in the menus after over 2 years ! Alan
  24. This is a direct effect of what happens when our routines are disrupted. Make sure you don't forget your wife's birthday or your wedding anniversary ! Alan
