  1. Linky to the fab LOC caliper painting guide (including laquer) - should help. g'luck
  2. That is a good price. I'm in!
  3. Black Betty makes me s*x wee :P
  4. Getting the seats out is easy, but there is a metal bulkhead between the boot and the interior, just checked on mine in the car park. ← Ah soz - bum steer then...
  5. This any use? Linky Although no mention of metal plate - and looks like a hell of a palarva. h
  6. Very nice, Mr Java! As another S owner I'm just about to go through exactly the same steps myself (although I'm post 2001 so the stock 16's aren't quite as ) h
  7. Top tip, indeed! - Air con in my IS was smelling like a dog had died in the glove compartment - a quick hoover of the filter and a good few squirts of Dettol into the intake and she's fresh as a daisy. cheers!
  8. Yeah, Stealth is the new bling. If you're really smart you'll use the company Mr. Morse used - they're free; they come round to your house (even in the middle of the night) - they're called "Chavs-Away" I think (sorry Mr. M!)
  9. I know that now - but on the first attempt the temptation is to think "Surely that little amount won't do anything." and "If I use this much per application, this bottle will live longer than I will!" - and before you know it you've over done it. Well, it was that way for me Got it sussed now tho'
  10. My little nugget of advice for people using KSG for the first time: cut your nails! You WILL probably over-apply the first time, and you WILL probably have a nightmare of a time buffing it out (too much KSG left to haze is hell). Last thing you need is a long fingernail scrtaching through the buffing cloth. h
  11. cor! that IS going to look shiny. Think that's the route I'll take then (well maybe only 3 layers SG and 2 P21S) thanks for the advice all :) h PS - LOVE the image of Mr McNally getting James Bond to wax his Lexus - now that's classy! ;)
  12. Cheers! Yup - that's great help. Figured - can't rush these things... Saw the shots of Black Betty after you'd given her the Klasse treatment - and she did indeed look great. Black cars just love this Klasse stuff - after the AIO and one SG layer mine's already looking liquid. B) h
  13. ok - I'm finally getting the hang of the Klasse SG. (Apply an almost invisible amount, and leave to cure for at least 24hrs - thanks Mr. McNally) I'm just about to give 'er another wash and apply second layer, question is: do I have to leave second layer to cure or can I pop a finishing layer of P21s on top straight away? thanks all h (PS - typical - I only have to THINK about washing the car and it starts to rain... )
  14. Yup, good tip - my only concern would be that after 4 weeks out in the open and four washes - alot of the protection from the first coat would be gone etc. Therein lies the real problem: I'm lazy and like instant gratification Also, from my little experience the KSG is a mo-fo to buff off - but the AOI and p21s goes on and comes off like butter. (oh, and no pics till I replace my wheels )
  15. No rain in london yesterday! I missed on the group buy - but bought kit from autopia anyway. So yesterday - 1) washed with Sonus shampoo 2) sonus clay bay all over ("clay bar, CLAY BAR!") 3) Mequiars ScratchX over noticeable scratches and swirls. 4) Klasse AOI all over (I used damp applicator - wipe on/wipe off immediate) 5) layer of p21s wax all over (immediate wipe on/wipe off again - dry applicator) Four hours later: the results? Simply incredible - no photos I'm afraid but you'll have to take my word for it: it's no longer black - it's more a silvery version of whatever is being reflected in it :D I'm almost hoping it DOES rain now - want to see the beading effect :) Anyway - I couldn't recommend the above more (haven't actually used the Meq 3 stage though so couldn't compare.) I have the Klasse SG too but have heard that mulitple layers are required for best results and it requires around 12 hours curing between coats - I'm parked on a grubby london street so whenever I leave the car for 12 hours it's picked up so much dirt that it'd be back to stage one cleaning again forever )
  16. oo-oooh, if it's not too late - can I get on the reserve list too? h
  17. LOL! put the fear of *** in me, whydontcha? :winky: :tsktsk: it. I'll go get a new battery tomorrow morning on the tube. (it is the second time my battery has gawn in a month with plenty of driving in between so it's a safe bet that I need a new one anyway) :) (edit: incidentaly, for future reference, what exactly does "be careful" mean outside of the normal: make sure the terminals are correct etc.? - thanks)
  18. Is the boot-open sensor and the boot light triggered off the same sensor/swtich? Would make sense, I spose. Dodgy battery is most likely cause, yes - I'll wave my jump leads at friendly looking passers-by and then take her for a forty minute spin and then hope.
  19. bah, just went out to pick up the mother-in-law from airport to find my battery flat too. Was just driving it two days ago. Will check my boot light - but one thing I did notice was that my lights had been left in "Auto" - this doesn't drain power when ignition is off does it?? h
  20. Heh, yes - well spotted! Soon to be replaced with an avatar piccie of my own IS as soon as I get a nice day to clean it - and maybe after I managed to get a bit more bling together :winky: h
  21. So does the frown on the face of my missus apparently (getting stern looks for having spent the morning lying in the street applying brasso to my tail pipe! ) Aido: cheers, yes: was thinking wheels first - need to get rid of the 16's asap. Money's tight at the mo. so some "proper" wheels would have to wait until after summer. Might see if I can scrimp something together and pick up a set of standard 5 spoke 17's when someone on here upgrades (seems to happen regularly.) And don't get me wrong - no pessimisim here. My IS is the bestest car in the world. :D thanks all
  22. Done! Much shinier. Seemed almost a shame to put the trim back on. Amazingly it isn't raining/snowing/sleeting - now, if I can just avoid the temptation to wash the car...again.
