  1. the difficuly in sourcing is the problem but thought if the dimensions are the same then it will fit
  2. for my next project i will be designing a guided missile system, that homes on hit and run drivers and car park shunters any takers :D
  3. i recon i am going to get the same answer for this as i did the grille but will a gs series 2 spoiler fit a series one
  4. well prior to buying my lex i looked at gettign a skyline GTR and before i went and bought it igot a quote of £6700 for fully comp :o at which point i asked the insurance agent if he was wearing a mask. My first car when i was 18 (10 years ago) was a RS500 though which i paid £2000 insurance for and had to install a £1000 tracker which even if you look at inflation is considerably cheaper then the skyline quote
  5. sounds similar to using venturi effect but you would need a very free flowing exhaust otherwise you would end up with a higher point of static pressure behind it but i gather you got it worked out and obviously don't want to give the game away because if i knew something the other people in my sector didn't know i wouldn't tell them either :D
  6. i am just wondering if you could remove a section of the exhaust and put an ejector pump style duct into an exhaust system that would give a good rise in the exit speed for the gasses whilst dropping the pressure at the engine without too much hassle although this is an intellectual pursuit rather than a practical one you too can have fun with thermal dynamics
  7. i understand wehre you are coming from but a reduction in pressure gives an increase in velocity if through a duct so it would be possible to increase exhaust exit speed if you ducted part of the exhaust so if you went from a larger diameter pipe to a smaller using a convergent duct you would gain an increase in velocity of the exit gasses but a reduction in temperature and pressure (the opposite is true in a divergent duct) i think i am going to stop here for a bit as i am giving myself a headache
  8. how broken is broken though because as long as they are not cracked across the spokes i am sure an engineering shop could fill the damage and remachine the faces and its got to be cheaper than a new set of oem alloys
  9. just out of interest (because i have exhausts on the brain at the minute) if you increased the diameter of the exhaust piping and/or silencer to provide a greater area this would reduce the back pressure generated on the engine therefore you would be able to add more boost in regard to the ignition but what is the ideal backpressurethe exhaust should be generating ?
  10. you do realise now though that the next time someone is on your roof the neighbours will just think your sky is on the blink :D
  11. when it comes to cars you can justify anything :D just be creative
  12. can't say that i am a GT4 fan but need for speed underground has an IS lexus and you can mod it :D
  13. ← geometricaly the GS is not subject to vibration unless the front tyres have worn uneaven, wheel balance is the criminal in most cases. for the GS the only way to balance the wheel is on a "studed plate" basicaly the wheel needs to be bolted onto the balancer in the same fashion as it is on the car via the stud holes, not the wheel centre! ← so find a wheel balancer with a stud locatig jig and i'm away then thats good to hear as it sounds very inexpensive :D thanks for the info
  14. The traditional compression ratio for a four cylinder engine is 8.5 to 1. You can go a little higher with multi-point injection. Most non-turbo cars have 9 to 1 or higher compression ratios. You can get away with about 9 to 1 turboed but beyond that, and the boost you add with the turbocharger will cause pre-detonation and blow your engine. Also, the higher the compression ratio, the less boost you can pump into the engine. So you will need to add low compression pistons ideally to get more boost the fuel system delivery will have to be upgraded. You'll need higher flow rate injectors, a higher pressure fuel pump and sub-pump, and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. Without the additional fuel, the engine will run too lean under the boost of the turbo, and will detonate, and blow. It was a bit of a cut and paste exercise but hope it helps
  15. It seems from the huge amount of GS posts that there is an ongoing problem with the GS geometry after a while and as i suffer from a touch of vibration at 90+ mph (private roads only you understand) after i get my wheels rebalanced then getting the geometry checked is the next logical course of action so if anyone in the leicester/lincs area has founds anywhere that does a good job i would be glad of the details Cheers Leg
  16. doubt if i'll put them back on ebay if it doesn't wor although i may possibly fob them off to someone with a burberry cap and a corsa for 10x the value :D
  17. was speaking to another lexus owning friend of mine today and he says his year old IS300 wheels have gone as well and lexus have replaced them free of charge. Obviously this must be a known problem so if you have a car still in warrenty i suggest a trip to the dealers
  18. i thought of this a while ago and was wondering how many people actually buy boot liners as i recon i can knock up a collapsible one along the lines of those one man tents that you open and they go into shape so you could easily use and remove it so if there are alot of people who want them i may think about doing a prototype again
  19. couldn't swear to this but it may be tied in with your vin number which means you will have to get it off lexus but i thought the car and the key synchronised if you left the key in for a certain amount of time with the battery on. I am sure someone else will know how its done
