  1. if you live near the sea in an industrial area or in a dip or valley you are going to experience slightly higher degrees of corrosion due to the increases in dampness or salinity of the enviroment or possibly the amount of acid rain one way of reducing it is when you wax your car do the alloys too. I know you can buy specialist polishes to do alloys but some wax will give some protection or you could rub them down with wd40 when they are dry (wouldn't spray them you will get your trakes as well)
  2. wll brasso will strip road film away no problem don't know if it will be any good for the plastic though greygate plastic polish is a good one though will make the headlights easier to clean the bugs off in the summer too
  3. would be intersted to find out what you think of the springs as in ride quality and what make they are as that is the plan for next month
  4. just a thought but can we work out geographical locations where this is happening and maybe pin a map that way it gives an idea where the hotspots are that way it gives an idea whether the attack dogs are chained or loose :D
  5. come to think of it there must be an ideal exit pressure to give the best performance and ducting an exaust will not be a problem as you trim duct jet exhausts to provide the correct pressure on the turbine and exhaust temp so it must be feasible with these as well (although i may be getting a little ahead of myself :D )
  6. thats not so good but this is why i intend to make it a straight swapover at least it will give me something to do for a while and my welding needs some work anyway lol
  7. think it works out about 25 quid a piece for shipping you will get import tax but you only pay the tax on what you pay for it so you will pay the tax on whatever you get it for for example i paid roughly 8 quid on something that cost me 90dollars the last time i bought something from the us however if you can get them to send it tagged as a gift voila no tax to pay
  8. brake dust and dog urine thats about the best cell for electrolytic corrosion i have heard of, pehaps rinsing it in sea water could possibly make it worse lol
  9. i say we start a fightback against the ignorant f :tsktsk: r's who open doors on you and nudge cars as you are walking back. Next time i see someone do it i am going to have them for as big a respray as i can get oh and emotional damage. I find seaside carparks the worst when you find someone unpacking there boot onto your bonnet, got some nice scratches from that experience last time i was in weston
  10. if you click the link at the top of the thread on my first post that will taker you to them tony i hung around at silly o clock in the morning and managed to get 2 for roughly 50 quid they are up on the ebay.com under lexus mufflers and usually on buy it now for between 30-40 dollars each, if you give it a while though i will be able to let you know if its worth it leg
  11. well i found some of these that were that cheap that i am not worried about losing the money. I am going to have them welded onto a seperate pipe and make a complete replacement for it (as we have the technology) so will let you know if its worked out or turned into a disaster :duh: leg
  12. have been looking around for some eisbach springs myself you can get loads in the us but i bet there is someone on here who knows where to get them the us ones do seem to run cheaper but i bet there is little saving when you consider the postage
  13. xcan't go wrong with the brasso wadding works a treat :D
  14. better late than never really but there is a product called micromesh you can buy in incredibly fine grits this stuff will polish glass and plastic (pretty much anything in fact) so if you chip a headlight this could be the stuff for you (to give you an example its used to polish the canopies on harriers if they get damaged)
  15. i was hoping someone would come up with a good reason not to try these as i am still sitting on the fence i mean whats the worst case scenario if it all goes terribly wrong new back boxes ?
  16. had this on my GS annoying isn't it i was told it was a sticking caliper and got charged 100 quid for the pleasure (lies all lies) i had a look myself and i could push the brake pistons back quite easily so i changed the pads even though there was alot of life left in them and voila no more squealing hope you sort it leg
  17. In my constant search for bits and pieces to attach to my Mk 1 GS300 i have come across this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=33636 (dunno if the link will work but u can paste it into a browser) now i know it is not the real thing as in a real apexi or HKS part but to my mind if it is manufactured in the same way with the same material spec and contains the same parts it should work the same. However when i see such a huge difference in price i automatically think whats wrong with it so if anyone has tried one with either positive or negative results i would be glad to hear or if there are any other comments cheers leg
  18. to be honest you pay over the odds for a branded machine but if you want tne ultimate go for an alienware pc they aren't cheap but the specs are fantastic. Not very long ago a friend of mine purchased a xp3200 amd system with a 17"tft off ebay and when we researched the parts for it we couldn't build it ourselves any cheaper. My advice is to go on ebay and have a good look at the specs 64 bit chips are going to be the future but there is nothing written for them yet and unless you need the speed for gaming you will never need the processor power or a high end graphics card. The only thing i would look for in the pc is how easy it will be to upgrade if you are on a budget go for a low end 64bit amd chip with a half descent graphics card and dvd rewriter and make sure it has a pci express slot on it for the new generation of graphics cards then in the future if you need more power you can put a new processor in or graphics card Good luck with the search Leg
  19. i have known of a few manufacturers to offer a free replacement when things go wrong so close to the end of your warranty as no one expects things to go wrong just after the warranty runs out just complain loudly and constantly until you get what you want and you never know till you try good luck leg
  20. oh well it was worth asking will have to keep trawling the classifieds then cheers for that leg
  21. hello again sorry but more questions was wondering if the grilles between mk1 and mk2 lexus gs are interchangeable as finding a mk1 gs sport grille is like looking for venuses arms and there are alot more aftermarke mk2 parts cheers leg
  22. cheers fellas although i am not happy how you say i can't play unless i get new alloys :winky: lol cheers leg
  23. oh i forgot to say if u need some plug ins let me know and i'll let u know where u can get them from (cough cough)
  24. well if its the balancing obviously i need new alloys to put the balance weights on :D i think best bet is to get it all checked i have changed pads and serviced the calipers over this as i thought it might have been binding at one point and i got charged 80 quid for the priveledge of getting it done at a garage the first time cheers leg
