I own a 2003 '53' Lexus LS430 (the 1st of the facelift versions of this LS43).

Would anyone know where I can get hold of a Steering Column Control Switch (which is used to adjust the steering column up, down as well as the angle of it) and an indicator stalk control arm as well ?

My indicator stalk has a crack in it but it works fine and I want to change it purely for cosmetic reasons

The steering control switch on my vehicle doesn't work and I need a replacement one (my auto-electrician has confirmed that the steering column itself is fine including the motors).

Any help would be more than welcome

The part you're looking for might just be not toooooo expensive at Lexus ?? ..... and easily available maybe.

Just thinking that the Battery for my Mk3 was easily available and less expensive than anywhere else purchasing it from Lexus / Toyota .... and nice coffee, papers and delightful young lady dealing with it all.

I have put out some enquiries with a number of breakers yards and Japanese Car Parts specialists - nothing on eBay

Admittedly, there are not many LS430s which are being broken up but there is an outside chance they might have one going.

I have read and heard of the electric steering column adjustment failing on a number of LS430s and Lexus dealers have struggled to diagnose the fault so they recomment replacing the steering wheel

Lexus have said that they can supply me with a replacement steering column for £1400 plus VAT - no way am I going to pay that on an 11 year old LS430.

My mechanic is very good and he's taking the steering column apart to check the inside parts to see if there is something obvious.

Will keep you posted

where is your stalk cracked - is it the outer twist for the headlights on/off/auto?

My indicator stalk has a crack which starts from the steering wheel column and is a few inches long - it works fine and I only want to replace for cosmetic reasons.

A couple of breakers yards have come back to me with quotes of around £60 - not cheap for a bit of plastic.

Lexus said they can't supply me the part on its own and that they only supply full steering columns - sounds crazy to me !

I managed to track down a used steering column adjuster switch and indicator stalk (it came as a unit joined together) - I was hoping that this would fix my electric steering column adjustment as the motor itself seemed to be fine.

Unfortunately for me, it's not worked and I am now having to source an entire steering column.

Not happy about this and disappointed that this could happen on a Lexus

Nach

The motors may be ok but from past posts on this subject it is the meshing gears on the drives which are at fault .They tend to wear out a bit like the drive on the ariel on the early Ls400s .There is a fix if this steering adjustment fault occurs on the late ls400 which is featured on U-tube .Unfortunatly the fix does not work on the ls430 because there is no access to the drives.

You may have to replace the steering mechanism and it is one of the many known faults on the LS430.

I've sent out enquiries for a replacement used steering column from a number of breakers yards - Lexus want around £1400 for a replacement steering column which is outrageous and I'm not paying that for an 11 year old car

Hi guys. Just to let you know that unfortunately for me the replacement steering column adjuster switch I bought didn't fix my faulty steering column so in the end I did have to replace the entire column but the car is back in full working order thank goodness
