  2. The car went back in to the tyre place this morning for the sensor replacement (apologies Don as i couldn't get to Manchester for the pre diagnosis). After fitment they plugged in the laptop in order to register the new sensor. Their system said all good as it showed a green tick, but the car appears to have different ideas. I now have this on screen? The fitter said that it may cancel out after maybe a few miles .... but nothing as yet
  3. I'm puzzled now. When you say it doesn't start, what exactly do you mean? Normally you press the start button, the dash lights up and the system check runs. The engine doesn't start at this point. Then you press the accelerator pedal and drive away under electric power and it's likely the engine starts after you've driven a few yards. At what point is the engine not starting? It shouldn't until you've moved some distance, depending on the state of charge of the hybrid battery.
  4. I have a 2015 RC-F but no idea if TPMS is similar on all models so I posted here to maybe have more chance of responses. I had a slow puncture in a rear wheel, the air was leaking from where the valve meets the rim, I took it to a tyre place & they couldnt get the TPMS off because it was seized & was going to break, so they asked me what I wanted to do, I said it was ok to replace it, so they broke it off & put a new TPMS sensor on that wheel, cloned the ID etc. I drove away after but I noticed none of the tyre pressures were showing on the dash, the TPMS light wasnt on, I thought it might take a few miles to recalibrate or something, but it never came back. I read the manual, did the turn on the ig, press the TPMS button under the dash, it flashed 3 times & then waited a few minutes, turned it off & back on again, didnt work. Plugged in the diag tool, it shows all 4 sensor ID's & all sensors are reading a pressure. Took it back to the tyre place, they spend 2 hours messing with it, resetting it all etc & gave up, refunded me for the job. Anyone else had these issues, does it HAVE TO BE an OEM Lexus TPMS sensor? any ideas before I get ripped off by Lexus dealerships? would TPMS be covered by that "Relax" warranty? So to sum it up, no TPMS light is on, all values on the dash are -:--, all tyre pressures are good, I did the reset procedure from the manual & all 4 TPMS sensors are transmitting & reading values when viewing them on the diag tool. Anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks.
  5. Ops looks like I spoke to soon it didn’t start first time again today but eventually started after 5 minutes I’ve definitely got a problem somewhere. Gonna have to get someone at some point to diagnose it and it’s annoying happened at the end of my annual leave. I’m still using Lexus Sidcup as I haven’t found a top quality inpendent Toyota/lexus garage yet. I’m from Gravesend area sides. have no idea when I’ll have the time for this annoyance. the 12 volt appears ok and the hybrid battery seems ok like it charging ok. but I’ll lean eye on the hybrid battery could be suspect maybe.

  7. ….oo’er, 36 replie’s to date and 23 ( now 24 ) of them are mine ! so sorry officer, my keyboard seem’s to have a mind of it’s own - maybe, it just get’s excited at the whirlwind speed of my one finger typing 😳! ( so admire 10 finger typing skill’s - why did the early, blossoming computer giant’s assume every new purchaser could type like skilled typewriter operator’s ? 🤔 ). today’s subject is my Lexus LS 400’s leather interior: open a door and sit yourself down in any of the 5 available seat’s and take in a 360* view of the interior cabin. excluding the fabric headlining, feel’s like cashmere-it’s not, and the rear shelf ( both unmarked ) you will note every surface is enrobed (😳-a chocolatier word ! ) in supple leather ! yes, every surface - front seat back panel’s / pocket’s even footwell side panel’s. my lifetime experience indicate’s many car brand’s save a measly few euro’s or gbp and use budget vinyl on unseen / unused area’s when offering ‘leather option’s’ - not Lexus, well not in the 90’s, anyway ! the swathe’s of leather surface’s are impeccable! no fading, no creasing, no cut’s, no tear’s, no staining, no crazing, no dryness - just a slim abraded / wear mark on the outside driver’s back cushion ( not seat ). my custom mixed ( from sample ) in Wessex, grey, Gliptone Scuffmastef Kit ( £44 ) has solved that flaw ! ….after nearly 24 year’s of use and 170.000+ mile’s, Anthony, how do you account for the outstanding condition of your leather interior and how has it been achieved ? 😳 ….er, I can only surmise no small children have been secured on the back seat or older children on the other seat’s ? the car may have been used only by the owner with occasional accompaniment’s ? historically, known as ‘an old git’s car’ ( like me 🙂 ! ) they tend to be treated with extra care and caution - which is how you get to be ‘an old git’ ! curiously, The LS 400 now has a quickly emerging ‘youngtimer’ following / attraction - maybe, they have twigged you can fit twin turbo’s+ and tune the affordable V8 power plant to increase power from 290 bhp to over 900 bhp ! 😲😲…has been done in the US ! …but I believe the main reason for the leather condition is because it has been cleaned, nourished and cared for ! cleaned ? ok, nourished ? meaning what, exactly ? with over 68 year’s of driving experience ( I was ploughing field’s at 12 behind the wheel of a Fordson Major Tractor ! 🫣 ) I have owned / driven many, many vehicle’s with the passenger car’s often fitted with leather interior’s. have only ever used Gliptone leather care product’s for the finest result’s - namely their: Leather Conditioner first then a follow-on application of Cleaner with Glycerine ! typically, I always apply The Cleaner twice a year ( following first Conditioner prep on receiving car ), whatever the leather fitted car, in the Spring and Autumn. thus, my Lexus has had 5 application’s to date, will apply the 6th prior to sale, in warm weather for absorbtion ! ….find a pair of your Wife’s / Girlfriend’s / Other’s kid gloves and feel the smooth, supple, moist and soft texture - my Lexus LS 400 leather feel’s the same ! 😃 moral: when you are inspecting a Lexus to purchase ( any model ) alway’s, alway’s do make sure the interior is in seriously good condition - you and your family and friend’s will be sitting in it for hour’s / year’s ahead ! 😲. ok, the outside metal part’s / panel’s may require improvement - but a skilled welder and paint sprayer can often solve the problem - but be careful it doesn’t up like Trigger’s Broom ! 😲. visit your local, very friendly, Lexus Main Dealer and ask, at the service desk, for a new centre arm rest in Wessex, grey, leather ( code 15 ) for a year 2000 Lexus LS 400 ! - watch his / her’s / other’s face break into a sympathetic half smile and with no attempt to access their keyboard to search they will just reply, knowingly ‘ NLA, I’m afraid’ ( No Longer Available ) !………that is why you need to purchase an older Lexus car with a very, very good leather interior ! ! ….ok, ok Anthony - show us how good your Lexus LS 400 leather interior really is ! bet the fitted carpet is filthy just like all the other’s I have seen ! …..here come the picture’s…… anthony ….£ 4.495 for all this and more - are you seriously kidding me, Anthony ? No - 😳 . coming soon : The Service History Record’s and a list of What does not work on my Lexus LS 400 !
  8. Next to the engine. The hybrid battery is under the rear axel.
  9. Very Warm Welcome To The L.O.C. You will find a Plethora Of Members On This site Willing To help and Support You In Any Way They Can...You Have come to the Right Place.. Enjoy your Amazing Car...Cheers.!!!!
  10. Lovely car and right up my street - good friend of mine had one and raved about it (didn’t have a chance to drive it sadly)…certainly worth a look but I wonder if practical enough
  11. Hi all, Apologies for asking a very basic question, but I need to take the mirror switch off my SC to clean the contacts. Both mirrors only operate L/R but not U/D. I’m hoping it’s just the switch. The question is simply, is the switch a push-fit which I can just prise out with a couple of flat blades on either side? many thanks, Jamie
  12. Alpine A110 is what I ended up switching to. Absolutely brilliant car, tons of fun and addresses a lot of the flaws of the RCF (weight, gearing, handling). I'd recommend test-driving one at the very least to see if you like it, preferably a GT.
  13. I mean compared to the E90 M3, W204 C63 and B7 RS4 - I think the ISF has the nicest interior by far. At the risk of derailing this thread even more than I already have - how much did it cost you to import yours? Just trying to build up an idea of the costs involved (on top of the cost of the car) to figure out what I might be able to buy within my budget.
  14. Imzy.........There are Youtube videos of Toyota models (Yaris and Rav 4) with touch screens that illustrate the method to gain access to the camera settings. One showed touching and holding the audio button on the screen whilst turning the head lights on/off 3 times and another also a menu button. I suggest you do a Youtube search on “disappearing guide lines rear view camera” which will allow you to do a re-calibrate. Hope this helps (most of the videos were in the USA)
  15. Just Wonder how many Other members of the L.O.C. Have Bought this Wonderfull little gadget... !!!!
  16. Where did you get the zip download from? Every time I’ve tried to use the incar update I get an error and the dealer tells me I can’t update it. I didnt know there was a download location for manual updates
  17. May seem like an obvious question, but is the car running at the correct factory tyre pressures? Dealership have a habit of over inflating tyres when a car is serviced, not sure why. The first thing I do after a service is to lower them to the correct pressure as it makes a huge difference.
  18. Hi, New Member. New to me: ES300h (2020) F Sport. Very pleased with it thus far. Initially, slightly worried about the firmer ride with the sport trim. Uneccessary fear, as it is wonderful and ever so comfortable. Annoyed about the luxury tax, but that's another story. Largely due to my own lack of research / foresight. Just fitted a dashcam (aftermarket) by tapping into the internal fuse box. Just wanted to say hi. Warmest,
  19. Also in terms of interior quality and feel, the Lexus is leagues ahead of the Alfa!
  20. Funnily enough, I had a deposit on a new Alfa quad at the time (also would like a red or Green one) but backed out as they mis-quoted the numbers and I didn’t feel at the time i could justify the extra I had considered the BMW/merc at the time but then this one turned up and it was dream spec for me so jumped on it. Think I just fancy a change really, nothing against the car and although I’d love a LC, need something with a little practicality - small bugbear for this car is that the rear seats don’t fold on the F. And it’s bigger than you expect but as an ownership prospect (running costs aside 😁) it’s brilliant!
  21. Good luck with the sale, wish I had the sunroof! Hope you don’t mind me asking, what’s moving towards those alternatives? Most RCF owners made the conscious decision to not buy a BMW/Merc etc. Alfa however was on my shortlist too but didn’t want the back seats. Beautiful cars though, love the Red or Green with tan interior!
  22. We export our excess solar with Octopus for 15p/kWh and charge the car for 7.5p/kWh overnight. It's only a small saving but over the years it'll add up.
  23. ….hello, Malcolm and thank you for your suggestion. a test drive ? of course, I shall be happy to demonstrate all the available and legal performance parameter’s of The LS plus any ancillary on-board driving support system’s ! will the Prospective Buyer be able to test drive The Lexus on The King’s Highway ? yes but only if they can produce a dedicated, hard copy, Insurance Certificate for my Lexus LS 400 - Registration No: OYY 655. why is that ? one may say - I have my Personal Comprehensive Insurance Certificate that, clearly, show’s a clause stating: Malcolm may also drive a motor car or motorcycle registered in the UK, Channel Island’s, or Isle of Man, which does not belong to them and is not hired to them under a hire purchase scheme.** ‘so what, exactly, is your problem, Anthony, in my test driving your car, today ?’ simple’s - my response would be: please remember that cover for driving another car or motorcycle is limited to Third Party Only which means there is no cover for any loss or damage to the vehicle being driven.** still a No - the car is not for you then, sir ! ( the only exception may be a test drive on one’s private land, that’s a no from me, or maybe a car park or other area not on the King’s Highway ) anthony **extracted directly from my current NFU Mutual Comprehensive Certificate of Motor Insurance.
  24. So basically as it stands it would appear that Lexus is distancing itself from any problem that requires a fix. Where have we come across that attitude lately, the Post Office maybe?
  25. I am tentatively thinking of selling current RCF and currently looking at alternatives. Has anyone considered or done similar? current shortlist is current M3/M4, previous gen but 2019 (facelift) onward c63 coupe (do like the estate though!) or the 2021 onward (facelift) Alfa Guilia Quadrifoglio…. suspect I’m better selling privately but they are a rare beast, particularly mine as a facelift ~ have genuinely not seen another on road since I purchased in 2021 (Lexus approved) so perhaps might take some time. Any advice, experience or suggestions appreciated. I say tentatively as fundamentally it is a brilliant car and I know I will miss elements of it but…. brief spec below in case someone interested in discussing Facelift (current shape) model in Azur Blue (recently stage 2 polish and ceramic coated) 2 tone white and black leather (treated) 29k miles or thereabouts full Lexus service history of course Oct 2019 registration (69 plate) but on a five digit private plate - would include for right buyer Hayward & Scott exhaust (plus standard) AVS adaptive dampers Apple CarPlay and all other usual spec incl mark levinson, forged alloys, orange callipers Optional and in my opinion vital sunroof
  26. I don’t find mine noisier than a van even with RFTs on. Don’t know what’s going on there.
