  1. Past hour
  2. The YouTube video (about 2'27" in) in this thread shows the battery voltages in Techstream when you go to register a sensor. Maybe that's where it is? Though I'm not sure 'OVER' as a battery voltage is much help...
  3. Mine white and that Pearlescent White is beautiful 😍 Pictures do'nt do it justice...
  4. May be worth considering unless theft statistics or insurance on those proves an equally tiresome read, but really I have no interest in any electric vehicle that would leave me stranded if I couldn't get to a working charging point on a long trip and definitely won't be investing on one which doesn't have at least a 300 mile range. That day will come perhaps but as I don't have a charging point at home and neighbours with electric cars all have horror stories when undertaking long trips then clearly they're not worth the outlay just yet. A slanted personal opnion perhaps but one I won't be shaken from whilst these issues remain. As an engineer, the "facts" about how clean electric is are less facts, more faery stories. There's definitely pros and cons, but I have yet to be pursuaded.
  5. Use your usual Lexus servicing guy to advise and assist maybe ? Where in London are you ? Malc
  6. My understanding is that replacing the radiator is essential and it was one of the first things I did after purchasing my Ls 430. I can't help with sourcing it as I had Lexus source and carry out the work. My understanding (hope someone corrects me if I'm wrong) that the coolant mixes in with the transmission fluid with catastrophic results. As for the struts: there is a company (whose details escape me at the moment but are probably somewhere in the forum) who specialize in struts and they also make them specifically for Lexus cars so perfect fit and if you're handy can fit them yourself. They are (were, not more than 5 years ago) very reasonably priced ( less than £100 for the pair; I think less than £60 in fact). I certainly would recommend them as they worked fine and never had a problem with them.
  7. Anywhere with birds, they do that... Worse, much worse, I've noticed, when the car is was spotlessly clean. If you're planning to update the maps yourself, the guidance they provide is decent, but make sure you use a decent USB stick. Doesn't have to be fast - I've tried a faster one, and it made no difference to how long it takes, which is best part of 80 minutes. I've done it twice now, and the first time I did it just sat in the drive with the car in Ready mode; the second I went for a drive.
  8. I've come late to this discussion but glad I found it, as I was about to commit to replacing my 10 yr old RX F-Sport with a post 2019 model. I won't be bothering to now. I'll keep and run what I have into the ground or part ex for something a little cheaper to insure. I'm shocked at how little Lexus have done to rectify a problem that they knew was a potential for theft at the design stage, never mind production stage. A simple fix to prevent easy access to canbus wiring systems, or a software protocol which was split such that ignition and security systems were separated from other operational systems and made inaccessible and use software preventing attack are all things clearly envisionable at a design stage. I was wondering why my insurance quote doubled this year with Premier insurance and got little truck with Lexus insurance who wanted £675 fully comp for a 10 year old RX. I ended up getting a sensible quote from another company and changing insurers. Whilst admittedly, I don't live in a high car crime area, it seems no-one is immune to blanket post-code insurance price hikes all because newer models have canbus vulnerabilities. This whole thread has been a depressing read and I'm now very unlikely to proceed with any Lexus vehicle as a result, but if not Lexus, then what? BMW and Mercedes and Audi are disposable unreliable heaps of crap after 4 or 5 years. Been there, got the teeshirt. The reason I discovered Lexus was That I got fed up with our merc breaking down every other lamp post when yet another sensor failed. Toyota use the same platforms as Lexus so that now (for me) rules them out. Honda are only offering anaemic 1.5 litre disposable engines across much of their model range. We have the last of the truly great (realiable) and long lived Honda motors in our 1.8 e-VVTI civic so will hang on to that until the bitter end. Jaguar, or Land rover? Nope. Just about everyone I know with one also owns huge garage bills. What, then, are ex Lexus owners turning towards? I'd be genuinely interested in hearing some of your stories and experiences, if like me, you've decided to go in a different direction? Volvo? Genesis? Kia???
  9. Have a search on this Forum and other Lexus forums plus YouTube. Folk will pitch in…from memory release auxiliary belt. Identify alternator fixing bolts. Jack up and support vehicle. Undo from top and underneath as practicable. Draw unit forward and out. This will expose electrical connector for disconnection. It’s a step taken in a cambelt change so it will feature in those guides too. Hope that helps.
  10. Yes. Read this and other threads. RX was the UK’s most stolen car last year (as a percentage of cars on the road) - one in every 46 RXs were stolen in 2023. it even eventually hit watchdog… resulting in this statement: https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-uk-statement-on-vehicle-theft/?fbclid=IwAR2u1DC_0mAo4_kSpK_1FLViLNyHJq0nAKctwfXCMxQi1CwuNiGBA10yY0w_aem_ATXzc0mSafM1xX72JZyfSo-7KpoTKXtkPQjmf6ToRhjQ_4GsDaGMH6Nf5ACoFWEW2pE
  11. Hi Worfell, Congratulations on your purchase, and have fun with the restoration:o) Apologies, I'm a bit late to the game here, but Leatherique worked well on my 400. I also went for aftermarket struts (but paid a bit more than £20), they have been good, no regrets.
  12. Have you tried a slower type 2 (7kwh) ? Or if you’ve only been trying those, try a CCS fast charger? otherwise I’m afraid back to your dealer - ideally before your battery runs out…
  13. If I were you Paul, get a quote. If your happy with it, then fine. I paid just short of £400 /yr for my 2013 gen 3 doing 15k miles. I swapped for a gen 4 unaware of the canbus issue last November , it went up to the equivalent of £730 ish /yr . My renewal is £1150. I have max no claims, private driveway, 15k miles, 3k business use, £750 excess. Chapo at Chris Knott said everyone except Highway (Allianz i think) were ludicrously higher than 1150. By comparison, a brand new RX, with an encrypted canbus, was quoted at £750. So I feel i am being stung for £400 because lexus employed zero security on a car's network in 2022!! Inept doesn't even come close.
  14. There are nearly new examples of the RZ on Autotrader from just under £43k - including from Lexus dealers. The depreciation on them is ridiculous, at these (nearly new, very discounted) prices they are much more reasonable!
  15. It looks amazing! I sold mine (2012) last week and I do miss it a lot. In my experience, there are quite a few Lexus fans that are not on the forum so you will definitely have more success if you list in on AutoTrader as well. I was quite nervous to sell privately (first time) but had a great experience with AT.
  16. Well lexus got back to me today - nothing of any substance. The reply to me asking when the security enhancements would be available was : "I’m afraid exact timings are still to be confirmed. We anticipate being able to advise Centres with further details in due course. I’m afraid I’m unable to confirm a date at the moment. Please be reassured that the enhanced security enhancement is being finalised and will be available soon for impacted customers." It wont be available to me for my insurance renewal though - so I'll just end up paying an inflated amount
  17. I hope the process is easy enough. I will get the update done in a month or so. Definitely loads of life left in these cars I imagine. Currently the constant annoyance is bird poop and stone chips that have appeared on my front bumper. I know perhaps not the biggest concern really but I guess that is what you get when you live next to a port and in the city with a car parked in an uncovered car park eh? 🙂
  18. I've only ever seen one Genesis in the flesh....on the back of a breakdown truck.I believe they are a gussied up Hyundai...In the same way Lexus and Toyota operate.
  19. Today
  20. Hi Sara I can thoroughly recommend the RX450h+ - a fantastic car. I previously owned a NX450h+ and prior to that a NX300h. Other than routine servicing and manufacturer's recalls (on the 450h+) I didn't have to return to the dealership. Build quality is superb and my local dealership (Lexus Edinburgh) first class. As I have reported previously I set out in 2017 to buy a Discovery Sport but was underwhelmed by the dealer and crossed the road to Lexus where the reception received was outstanding. 7 years on and I'm now on my third Lexus. I'm currently achieving over 60mpg when combining the cost of EV charging (overnight at home) and converting this into current petrol cost. Actually got over 70mpg from the NX450h+ but pleased with the RX result considering its a larger and heavier vehicle. If you can run it in EV mode as much as possible the results will be outstanding. Haven't driven a Genesis but did consider a Kia EV6 and test drove one - impressive but EV charging infrastructure and overall range just isn't good enough.
  21. In case it helps anyone else in future, it appears that FAT32 format is only typically available on USB's of 32GB or lower, and I had bought a 128GB one as I have a fair amount of music. I bought a 32GB one, formatted to FAT32 and am now playing music just fine in the LC. I have just had to be a bit selective on the music!
  22. Thanks for that. Could anyone recommend a good rebuilder that they have used before? Any idea on how to remove it? Many thanks !
  23. Sc430 tow rope then 🤔 Malc
  24. I think it had the updates you describe but the cost of a new model is more than I can justify, another reason for looking at an RX4, pre touch screen model....or was until I read about security vulnerabilities...
