RX400H advice - motors and batteries

Recommended Posts

Hi, just joined as I'm looking into buying an RX 400h. Congratulations on the forum, I've already picked out a lot of useful info.

What I would really like to check though is this...with my budget of 8-10K, I am looking at a 2007-9 SE-L or SE with Nav and a FSH, with anything between 60-100k in mileage. Given that some of these are high mileage and 8 years old, what is the expected lifespan of the electric motors and batteries?

Would it be better to go for newer and high mileage or older and low mileage? Obviously I'd prefer newer and low mileage but that all depends on finding a good one.

I'm off to have a look at a couple local to me near Manchester, so there seem to be a few around to look at. What would members think I should also look at on the test drive? Other bits that might be specific to hybrid?

Hi. I think all things are covered petty much in the forum already.

I have RX400h SE-L. 86000 miles.. Batteries are perfect and car has no rattles or issues whatsoever. So, if you had a good one that has been looked after you will be fine. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

I remember reading somewhere that the high voltage batteries will be about 80% efficient after 10 years. I would go for the SE-L, as the price won't be much higher and you will get a lot of useful extra features. The consensus seems to be to go for younger higher mileage cars.
