Anyone know why the IS has a triangular sticker patch over the side of the rear wheels leading to the rear doors? Always wondered.....

Supposedly to prevent stone chips. However, IMO its a waste - Ive removed mine and had no stone chips there

Thanks - how do you remove them? Just peel?

Use a hairdryer on one corner to heat up the glue. Carefully use your fingernail to lift that corner up

Then just yank it and itll come off. Dont heat the whole area otherwise it'll leave loads of glue residue everywhere which takes ages to clean.

Then just go over the area with a tar and glue remover

My previous IS had a road rash on the plastic probably from stones & debris thrown off the wheels. imho the plastic does save the paint from chips. Unless they really bother you imho leave on.  No manufacturer fits parts which are superfluous.

Only down side was on a black car one had to be very diligent at removing polish residue from the edges

I use Topaz for this very reason. And a regular shine with Meguires Ultimate Quick Wax, white residue products are to  much of a nuisance. Professionals will no doubt disagree but Turtlewax it Wet looks great and even Demon Shine works well.

The GS paint is in excellent condition and doesn't need a polish.
