Can anyone explain why E5 doesn't corrode but E10 does?

It's called Google, hope it helps ... 😀

"Acidic compounds and ions can be dissolved in water, and these substances can have corrosive effects on metallic construction materials. With the increasing content of ethanol in fuels, the conductivity and ability of fuel to absorb water increases, and the resulting fuel is becoming more corrosive."

Yup, E5 is only 2-3% Ethanol whilst E10 is 9-10% Ethanol.
So E10 will absorb 3 times as much water from the atmosphere so it is 3x more corrosive.
E85 requires plastic or rubber lined fuel tanks (cannot even use aluminium as it's too corrosive) and the use of special plastics and rubbers in the entire fuel system.
