Hi all

I have a Lexus 220d is 59 plate. I got in to start it up and nothing happened. There is a fast clicking noise from a part next to the Battery, charged Battery but no lights on the dash and the startup button light is also flashing with No crank. Could anyone give me an idea why?? Thanks

Are you sure the Battery was charged?

Usually the fast clicking is solenoid chatter. There's enough power in the Battery to energise the solenoid coil but when the contacts pull in to pass power to the starter motor the Battery voltage drops like a stone and the contacts drop out. As soon as the starter motor is disconnected the Battery voltage climbs again and the whole process is repeated, hence the rapid clicking.

Thanks for that I’ll replace the Battery this week

The battery may have been charged, but if it has expired won't hold any of the charge. Do you have a multimeter to check the voltage?

Thanks for that I will replace the Battery later this week
