Alternator

Thanks Colin. Now does anybody know if I put a second Battery, in will the alternator be enough to charge both with a split charging system.

I can't work out why but this is the third time i've had to replace my Battery. I installed my system and found that the lights were dimming and the electrics was cutting out very regular. I bought a new upgraded Battery and installed some power caps to remedy this only it lasted another year and I feel that the Battery is on its way out. So the only alternative i can think of is a split charging system.

Can anybody explain why this is happening?

What Battery did you buy Alex?

Normal lead acid batteries take ages to charge....

With the stock alternator rated at 100amps as Colin stated.

This will charge up a Gel cell or spiral cell Battery much quicker then a lead acid one, also with these types of batteries they can withstand being 80% discharged and regaining full charge again anyways- sometimes known as deep cycles not bycycles.

Remember all batteries discharge the same... It's the recharge capabilities that's important

You will find then that the standard IS alternator could be upto the job of say charging a bank of 3 Exide batteries :whistling: but for how long is the question.

How much current are you sucking from your system?
