IS200 'Hot' start issue - any ideas?

I've got a W reg (2000) IS200, 150K.

Has recently developed a problem where it won't start if it's been driven for a while (over half an hour) and then stopped for a few minutes.  The key will turn and electrics come on but the turning over noise isn't right and it engine doesn't start or catch.

If I leave it for a while (at least 15-20 mins) then it will start ok - so it seems to be related to to the car being hot because if I drive for 10mins, stop and restart it's fine - issue only happens when it's been driven for a while.

Obviously am going to take to local garage (no specialists in East Kent) but it's going to be more tricky for them to reproduce so any ideas or suggestions as to what could be causing this?

Only know fault is the Bank 1 Sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit has failed (but that's been like that for nearly 3 years).

New Battery last year and pretty sure the spark plugs have been replaced in last couple of years

Sounds like the classic CPS failure. The car doesn't know the crank position. When the engine gets hot the sensor fails, when it cools it starts working again.

Get the codes read for confirmation.

+ 1 on the CPS failure.

If the rev counter does not show any movement when you turn the engine over this would further indicate a failur of the CPS.
