Tcut pens - good or bad?

Recommended Posts

Got an annoying scratch on the passenger door, can feel it with my fingernail and I know absolutely nothing about paint care or correction.

someone’s recommended a tcut pen saying it’s foolproof. Appreciate it’s a short term fix but just wondering if anyone can give advice?

I always start off with Autoglym super resin polish, this can remove slight marks, if this does not work I use Meguirs scratch X which is harsher, but should still not damage your paint.

I am not a great fan of T-Cut, I think it is too harsh.

Agree T cut can be harsh.  I have used a metal polish (had some old Bluebell or Brasso, can't remember but needs good shake first).  A little stronger  is Solvol Autosol, now just called 'Autosol I believe.   It really depends on how deep scratch is and to some extent where.  Sometimes a rattle can and buff will do if you can get a good match and are used to doing this.  Even manufacturers shades can differ.  A good 'Chips Away' sprayer may be able to do a satisfactory job.  It get's expensive if a panel needs to be blended.

If you use too much of it, it leaves a noticeable ring around the mark
