NX450h+ charging cable

Hi, newbie here. Can anyone tell me the manufacturer of the NX450h+ charging cable. It is 5m in length, according to my dealer, as supplied with new vehicle. I expect (lol) delivery of my 'in build' 450 around the 4th May. A 10m version of the cable is available at £365 (ouch) and I can find 8-10 metre cables online for way less. I am sure Lexus are not making this product, so any idea who is?

If I had been given the option of a 5m or 10m cable before taking delivery of my car, I would have requested the 10m cable. With 6 months experience, I would take the 5m every time. This is because it is a thick, heavy cable that has a mind of its own. I imagine a 10m cable would be like wrestling a giant Anaconda! Unless my regular fast charging point was more than 5m away, I wouldn't go for a 10m cable.

Thanks! But unfortunately I need at least 7.5m to reach comfortably! So is there a makers label or is it re-branded as Lexus?

This is probably why, I will setup a "permanent" cable on my own EV charging plug (220 V / 14 A)  with a hook to store it neatly and keep the other nicely tucked in the Lexus provided cable bag

Sounds like a great idea. Same here. I’ll use the 10 metre coiled for permanent use on my wall and keep the 5m in the car.

There is a long set of characters stamped onto the cable. Begins: LEONI P EcoSense (R) DEKRA KEMA-KEUR EVC   it gets a bit confusing after that to tell the difference between the letters and numbers.

Leoni EcoSense is an established supplier to the Automotive / eMobility industry including EV Chanrging cables. Headquarted in Germany.  To my knowledge they do not offer an eCommerce  / consumer supply option.

Leoni Brochure attached.

Dekra is an Electrical Safety Checking and testing organisation.  KEMA-KEUR is the testing and compliance standard.  I can only assume EVC = Electic Vehicle Cable / Charging.

These would apparently refer to the cable itself, as opposed to the complete chargers product. If there is no information on the actual charging unit ( the electronic box on the cable) I’m guessing it’s best to go for a third party product - there are many - and all less expensive than the one supplied by Lexus themselves.

Just out of interest, what was the lead time on your NX 450+ order?
I placed an order in early December with a provisional delivery date of June. The car is scheduled to be built in April but I wonder how reliable the estimated date is.

I ordered NX450h in June 22. Told by dealer about a year.  Sent query email to Lexus CS in January and reply by email was  - “build in April and delivery during June” . Order is now showing as build in progress in Lexus app and my Lexus so hope it should be early June.


think your dealer was being vey optimistic

Thanks for the tip on the charging cable, as long as it can safely provide up to 6,6 kw, it should work as a dream. Some OEM cables are limited to 8 or 10 Amps and may cap the power delivery regardless of what kind of plug you have installed. For us with 220V as standard, this 10 A cables will give you a max 2,2 kw. I will probably go for a 16A cable which will allow 3,6 kw power max and extract the most of my 14 A plug.

 Dealers are very very optimistic !

I ordered my 450H+ takumi on February 14th 22. It has been manufactured in late February 23 and will be delivered for final preparation to the dealership this week. Il will be a 14 months waiting time for me.
Waiting list is long everywhere (and even closed in Australia as they cannot guarantee delivery in a 24 months waiting time). Rhythm seems to pick up a little but the new RX with the same powertrain and infotainment will compete for the same building parts.
I would set my expectations to a more realistic 12 months waiting time

I may have misunderstood your original post as I thought you were asking about the heavy duty fast charge cable that connects to a 7kW wall charger. If you mean the other, lighter weight, cable that connects to a domestic wall socket then the cable markings are different and stamped with "Dyden Corporation". The box is a Lexus/Toyota part called a "Cable assy, Electric vehicle charger, part Num: G9060-47442".

Both cables that came with my car were 5m in length but when I looked on the Lexus website today, to review the 2024 Model Year spec, I noticed that it showed a 7.5m length for the domestic wall socket cable.

Sorry for the confusion. Interesting on the 24 spec though. I’m going to hold off on the 13A charger purchase until I have the car in my hands!
I ordered my 450h+ May 27 last year. It went in to build about a month back and now delivery is estimated May 4th. The manufacture year is confusing to me so I have no clue what will finally arrive.

Another thought. Not ideal if a long lead is needed on a regular basis but a good reserve for occasional use but an appropriate extension lead is possible. Note there are warnings in the manual about using an extension cable. A typical extension lead from B&Q and the like is potentially dangerous to use as it does not have the current carrying capacity for car charging. Specialist extension cables are available if essential and when you see the price, you'll know why they are different to a household cable. I got one from toughleads.co.uk (£20 indoor only cable, £26 for outdoor use cable).

They also sell complete leads and offer a nifty ModulEV adaptor system that allows you to connect leads and plugs to the different outlets across Europe. A good option to consider for trips to the continent. I am NOT an expert but Toughleads are and their website explains the issues better than I have; for example see their page at: toughleads.co.uk/pages/safely-charging-your-electric-vehicle  (I have no connection with this company other than being a satisfied customer)

Just spent an age checking out the invaluable advice and products on toughleads.co.uk. I’m an electronics engineer (communications) and always smile when someone calls me an electrician, which I am not. Those guys have knowledge and skills on technical detail and regulations that I do not. While I understand the issues perfectly, when explained, my discipline lies elsewhere.

I also have a permanent cable attached to a 13amp socket in a waterproof wall box with the connector/cable located in a bracket/socket from Halfords

Great idea. This is my approach. All I need now is the car, still showing for the 4th of May.
