Hello everyone, I want to put the automatic headlights on my car that did not came with. I was wondering if anyone has tried that and, if so, do I just have to change the lights lever (or switch)?

Thank you for your reply! I’ve seen somewhere that old lexus (in my case the is200) all have the same wiring, for example I have de fuse for the heated seats even though they weren’t specked maybe it’s the same situation with the lights?

The fuse boxes are identical on all models, but there may be no wires actually coming to the fuse box.

To be fair I don't know what is situation with automatic lights, for example my IS250 has wiring for distance ECU and sonar sensor, despite not being fitted with one. So it could be both ways, more often cars don't have extra wiring just dangling around, but in rare occasions they do and that needs to be checked by you i.e. wiring diagram will not show the wires which are not used.

I retro-fitted headlamp washers to my C class Merc and it took my trusted indie ages to figure out the wiring as the loom was there (it was the same for the windscreen washer) but important control wires were missing within it.

Does the dash of the IS have the solar sensor dome fitted? Or even a location for it?

Yeah that is good point as well, taking another example of IS250 - there is grille on Non-ML car for central speaker in the ML speaker, but no wiring. So in case anyone wants to retrofit the speaker the positive is that they don't need to cut the dash as there already is bracket and place for speaker, but they would need to run the wiring. So if we adapt that to this case - place for sensor would be good start, the wire would be even better story, but not everything.

That's not the case. Different wiring to the seats for example based on having heaters or not.

I don't know specifically about the auto lights but the dashboard wiring is also dependant on the options fitted. Toyota don't typically have any extra cost in a vehicle that isn't being used, even if it is a couple of meters of thin copper

Don't think you will have the solar sensor either (you might have one for A/C if you have that but there is a separate one for the lights on the dashboard near the windscreen).
