Cloud in every silver lining. Guy came to see me yesterday to go through a bathroom project. First thing he said was "I saw your car collection behind the gate and my price just doubled", do I hope he was just joking?

The fact that he thinks along those lines and is actually stupid enough to tell you should warn you that the guy is not to be trusted. An honest workman sees the job, costs it, adds his margin and quotes a price. Simples!  Find someone else.

My key observation is the age and quality of the van the new proposed contractor arrives in …… if it’s too smart and new he’s making too much £££££ from his jobs …….

Any works guys I use just know I’m broke coz of my old and ancient cars …… I hope they pity me 😂

To explain, the guy was having me on. I used this chap a few years back to do another bathroom and at that time I actually didn't have a car. There was just my wifes car parked out front. This time he arrived while my daughter was here and the driveway was crammed with 4 cars. Hence, he decided to pull my leg that if we could afford  4 cars we could double his price. Just a joke as he is a straight guy otherwise I wouldn't have asked him back.

Lexigirl was a bit jealous of the attention the XK was getting so took herself off  for a car park shoot. I warned her you won't look your best in this weather, but the green bug of envy had to be satiated.

Glamorous location.

I will try for a Biarritz photo shoot in May. I see the bar is set high.

Will that be before ,or after you wash it?

Might wash it before then. But it will have travelled 2000 miles before Biarritz so no promise. Dirty glamour.

You've picked a heck of a place . If you are driving the SC down there I have to admit to some jealousy. Was hoping to do something similar in late Spring, but it might not happen now.

Staying half an hour from Biarritz for a couple of nights on way back from Andalucia. Seems the flashiest place on the route, closest to thing Monaco I can pose in.

That is a test for the new car, I'm sure it will be super reliable and give you 33 plus mpg 👍🏻

start a new thread with a few photos of your adventure.

Biarritz and Monaco nightmare parking and prices. There are some much nicer places not far away.🤫. Have a look on TripAdvisor.

Starting to feel a bit jealous myself 😉😉

have you done this trip before ?
Fuel tank is a 75 litre…wonder what mileage you can get per tank ?

I have worked out the options many times and come to the same conclusion. It costs a lot to get to Spain with a car whichever way you go.

Portsmouth Bilbao/Santander  about £1000 return inc cabin. Portsmouth Caen then a stop in the Loire valley plus fuel plus autoroute charges plus a hotel/meals etc about £1000.   The big difference is to make sure you enjoy the travel through France and stop at nice places.   I came to the final option that I will travel down via Caen and visit the lovely Loire region overnight and travel back from Bilbao with the final night in Bilbao - some great food and drink there.

Got to be 500 miles minimum from a tank over that kind of distance.

16.4 gallon tank …at 33 mpg so yes 500 plus 👍🏻

Depends how you drive. The roads are great, not too much traffic normally, more relaxed, less speed or pressure, therefore 28mpg for me. So, about 500 miles? At €2 per litre that's 4 or 5 tankfuls equals about £650 for fuel. plus autoroute charges of course. The A9 Clermont Ferrand route is the cheapest.
