Goodbye NX450h+ ....Hello NX450h+

Recommended Posts

Like Ken R, I too am changing my 2 year old NX450h+ Premium Plus, but I'm staying with the NX, same model just a different colour - so the neighbours know I've got a new car 😁

I only went in because I got a puncture!!! 😁

Swapping Sonic Grey with Red interior for a Sonic Titanium with black interior

I did look at the RX but it is too big for our needs.

I pick my car up tomorrow, it's been in the UK since 6th March and I could have had it at the beginning of this week, but had other things to attend to.

The general rule of thumb is that cars depreciate by 15 - 35% in their first year - and up to 50% in the third year.  But that’s in a normal market.

So I wondered if you were getting a newer NX450h, or one the same age, or getting a big discount for the part exchange - or taking a hit on the depreciation?

Or something else?  Was it really all about a change of colour?

No Len,  I am getting a different colour although the comment about colour change was a joke about ensuring the neighbours know I've got a new car.

You are never going to win buying and selling cars (sometimes even if you are a dealer)!

I'm getting a new 24 reg one. I am fortunate in being able to do it, I bought it in February when there was an offer on, got both a discount and a good price for the p/x (ÂŁ6k better than WBAC), although I didn't shop around.

Also, they have transferred my pre-paid service contract so I've got 2 years with only RFL & insurance to pay (touch wood). 🫰

This may be my last 'family-size' car, so I'm just kicking that decision a bit further into the long grass.

In typing this, Len, you've made me think - maybe I should cancel 😂

Forgive me for commenting Alan, no offence intended, but it never ceases to amaze me how anyone can prudently afford to buy a new car given the immediate depreciation the moment it's driven off the forecourt 🤔 .  Unless of course there's some kind of tax dodge or corporate involvement, then I might understand.

As for selling to WBAC, it's not difficult to beat their prices which must allow for a significant profit margin at auction, namely that of their owners, BCA 😋 .

Now that’s another joke, isn’t it Alan, you wag!  😄

And I don’t know about your neighbours, but its certainly impressed me!   👍

I do recall that when I had to work for a living, our accountants would recommend changing cars every three years as being the most efficient way of running them.

I always preferred to buy them outright - or buy them once the particular lease arrangement had expired.  But I hope that the new one will give you at least as much pleasure as the current one.

Yes, I know who they are owned by.

If we were all wired the same and did the same, wouldn't it be a boring existence?

There is no right or wrong, we generate income and have the freedom to spend how we want. I suppose because I had jobs with company cars for a long time - often changing at shorter intervals than 2 or 3 years, I have that mindset. As I said before, I am now looking at retirement and whilst I still can, I am changing. It may be that I end up keeping this one for many years, but I doubt it.

I suggest you fit runlets on your new NX, this will mean you won't have the urge to visit your dealership again, 😭

And I was congratulating myself for having the forethought to have bought the Tyre & Alloy cover so I got most of the cost of the tyre back 😂

It has got runflats on, but I needed it changing quickly (Dad in palliative care in hospital) so I needed a speedy solution and Lexus Leeds stepped up to the plate having a replacement in stock.

By the way, i didn't stay in the showroom buying a car rather than visiting the hospital - I revisited after my Dad's passing!!

And I was just about to expose my ignorance by asking what ‘runlets’ were…

Fortunately, Alan’s reply clears that up!

So sorry to hear of your loss, Alan.

I can understand how the diversion of a new car could be a welcome distraction at such a difficult time.  🙁

Yes, agree with this.

Enjoy your new car.

Car collected yesterday afternoon.

A far better experience all round this time (salesman, car & paperwork all ready). They have a 'handover specialist' now who helped me set everything up on the multimedia stuff. So far, no issues with profile not been recognised or anything. 😁

I guess last time (March 2022) we were all learning together as the car was still a new model and the salesman didn't have much of a clue.
