Toyata Celica Gt 4 Turbo V Is 200.

The 3S-GE BEAMS engine doesn't have any valve lift change as it's only a VVTi engine, even if it is dual VVTi.

The latest Celica 190 engine, being a VVTL-i, is most comparable to the Honda engines and arguably more advanced.

I always wanted a GT4 205 too - went to see a few, went on a couple of test drives, etc. Only problem is most of the ones out there now are high milers, haven't been looked after, or have a questionable past.

I wondered about a Supra for a while too ... same problem with them.

Or perhaps even the old shape Impreza (new shape ones look ugly).

Sometimes these cars attract the wrong sort of attention though. Having a scooby is basically just an open invite to "da Saxo/Nova/ClioT massiv" to 'ave a go.

As these cars get older, a lot are becoming more affordable to the Chav/Pikey types which really puts me off ever buying one.

Kind of - the 3S-GE BEAMS in the Altezza is quite different to that in the Celica. Same block, i believe, but the BEAMS motor has VVTi, ultra light components (crank, pistons etc) and very high compression. As an engine it is more like the Type R/S2000 or Renault Clio Sport 2 litre (although the Clio Sport's 2 litre is not peaky like the Honda/Toyota motors, with excellent torque from 4000rpm)

Funny - i saw a silver ST205 on my way home from work tonight. They are quite rare down here in Oz too.

Yes those are different a bit. Of course you could boost up the Altezza's engine, but you'd have to take care a bit. The AltezzaEngine is an N/A engine so the compression is at least 10:1 or 11:1, and if you would give it too much boost it could blow up. Yes and not to forget the VVTi in the Altezza.

Not for the Celica's engine.... :D it's compression will be around 8,5:1 or such and is made for being turbocharged.

I heard many times of over 400HP Celicas (GT4) on completely stock internals.

No Problem. :)

The engine in the ST205 (2.0 N/A) and ST205 GT4 are completely the same except of the pistons... of course in cause of the compression ratio.

But it would be all too easy to turbocharge an N/A Celica.
