Loss Of Generator Belt

Recommended Posts

The generator (serpentine) belt came off and damaged the connector and pulled apart the wires to the engine's No. 1 cam position sensor.

The belt has been replaced and the wires to the sensor have been reconnected, but the engine will not start. I can't find any other damage.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance !!

Diagnostic codes are read with a diagnostic computer which plugs into a socket under the steering wheel. All dealers and most garages should have one, problem will be getting the car to the machine as its not a runner.

The other option would be to buy / borrow / hire one. This site has some background.

As above, it would be worth asking on the US forums as there's a chance someone there would know more about US LS's (this section is mostly UK owners) and where you might get some more information on the problem.

Good luck.

See this link - hope it helps. You will need to find an Obd2 code reader from somewhere to find out diagnostic codes.

Just to help others, on Mk1 and Mk2 models you can actually get diagnostic codes without buying any scanning tools. The instructions are on the link.
