I was sorely tempted to trade my 3 year old 200 SE in for a Golf. What on earth posessed me I don't know, could be something to do with the 50mpg figure and complete insanity. I test drove the GT PD TDi (anything with that many acronyms really does have an issue) and I have to say within 3 seconds (the time it took start it) I realised I was making a HUGE mistake.

I'm now awaiting delivery of my new IS200 Sport in Black. 2 weeks to go! I just couldn't face the anonymity of the Golf (not that its a bad car mind).

Whats even more amusing about the sorry tale of the Golf is the cost to change my car was less for the is200. By the time I had leather, heated seats, sunroof, etc. etc. on the golf It came out at over 20k and that coupled with the low trade-in allowance LED to a very quick decision. Well, aside from driving the car and an emotional decision rather than the financial one ;-)

Yeah, my car is due to be changed soon and I really can't make up my mind between an IS300 and the new Saab 9-3 Saloon - both look good, but I suspect Saab will depreciate faster. Will most likely stick with the Lex :bounce:

Thats pretty much where I got to (well, the depreciation thing). The best trade-in was at Lexus, and the residuals in the Lexus are among the best, certainly comaprable to the likes of BMW.

I like the fact that when you consider depreciation you don't immediately lose the value of costly upgrades coz its already in the car!
